Sullivan spent all week preparing for his party, despite the wandless incident the other day. It ended up working out in his favour, as his parents felt sorry for him and allowed certain things they otherwise might not have. Like a champagne fountain that greeted guests when they arrived. There were dancing, drinks and appetizers. For music, Sullivan hired a string quartet comprised of ghosts, one of whom was a Burke. The house elf, Worthing, surreptiously poked his head in every 20 minutes or so, and every time Sully noticed, he frowned. There was also an animated swan ice sculpture, running (gracefully) around the ballroom. Dancing lasted until about 8:15, when a five course dinner was served. It consisted of a potato and leek soup, salad, risotto with seared sea scallops, beef Wellington, and tarte tatin.
After dinner, guests could go outside into the Burke's small garden (they are in central London), where there were fairy lights strung up every where. There, flying chocolates bees and butterflies flew around the guests for them to catch. After a while, the lights were dimmed and a short, 15 minutes fireworks show started. The party lasted until about 11 pm or so. If guests needed to spend the night, there was plenty of room and there would be brunch in the morning. |
