The last time he was in Margate and walking the shallows, he visited with a chest that looked suspiciously like the one Elizabeth kept. Meanwhile, one of his crewmembers had seen something shiny on the water's floor while Will walked, and picked it up. As if Will wouldn't realize what the boy did when he kept fidgeting and hiding his hands. What was with sailors and shiny things anyway?
It had to be a piece of jewelry, but unlike anything Will had seen before, so he rescued it, in exchange for not keeping the boy aboard the Dutch for one hundred years. Amazing how quickly someone would give some thing up if they thought it would make them part of the hull of his ship.
So now he walked in the water, fingering the brooch, waiting for someone to come down to the beach.
