There is still a mastermind at large but without further information, it would be too risky to pursue this route without exposing the Council’s interest in this matter.”
Elemmírë waited as she watched the ink on the parchment dry before adding on the last sentence.
“As for my services, I would request for the payment to be made through usual channels.” Not that she really needed the money, but merely the act of asking for payment would signify to the Council that she owed them nothing since this was done basically as a business transaction. Carefully sealing the letter and burning all remnants of scraps of her coded message, Elemmírë slipped the thick wade of paper into her pockets before making her way down to the inn keeper slowly.
“See that the priestess of Lorien gets this – she will know what to do.” Elemmírë did not truest anyone to deliver the letter and if there was something that the priestesses were good at would be to deliver messengers between here and Astarii reliably.
She turned to make her way back to the room when she noted the arrival of Vaera – not as how she remembered the White Rider the days before but as a Free city noble lady. Judging from the expression on Vera’s face, there were something she wanted to say but was waiting for an opportune time. Elemmírë turned and moved silently towards the back of the room while watching the crowd and in particular, Vera.
