Fashion, it was the way of the world if you asked Limos. It had a curious mix of starvation for a perfection that was never achievable, and a need to be ‘healthy’ that just went beyond healthy at all points. It was intoxicating for Famine, who could breathe in the scent of decay as if it were the sweetest of perfumes. No one would ever think Limos was a beautiful man, gods forbid that, but he was certainly a desirable one in this world. He had the thinnest models, the best shows, and knew all the right people.
It was why Limon Théoden was the most sought after agent, and why designers were always sending him samples- in hopes he’d bite.
“Janie, baby…where is my latte?” He asked as he walked into his offices, a hand hiding his yawn as he picked up the paper. His assistant was holding a stack of fashion portfolios, before she bounced them up on her hip. Her name wasn’t Janie, or Jennie, and Jasmine, or any of the countless other J names that Limos fired at her…
But she didn’t mind so long as he paid her. And Limon was a the best job you could have if you wanted to break into the industry.
“Its on your desk Mr. Théoden.” She trotted into the office after him, carrying the portfolios with a smile as he rounded his desk as sat down. “You look tired.”
“Mm, long night.” He commented blandly, frowning as he looked over his desk. Picking up a card, he made a face. The card read ‘Thanks for last night, M.’ and smelled of manly musk. Huh… “Who sent these?”
“Those? Uh, I don’t know. They were on the doorstep when I came in this morning.”
Frowning more, Limos shook his head before tossing the card aside and sitting down. “What do I have on my calendar today?”
“You have-“ She was interrupted by a knock on Limon’s door, having them both look up with a be of a perplexed look.
“Mr. Théoden?” A man asked, pulling out his wallet and flashing a badge before he walked into the room. “I’m Detective Morison, can I talk to you?”
“Uh,” Limos blinked at him, clearly lost as to why the man was there, before he stood slowly and told Janie to go make some calls for him. “Sure, Detective.” He took the man’s hand and indicated the chair in front of his desk before he closed the office door and moved back to his seat. “I’m sorry, but…I’m not sure why you are here. Why are you here?”
“You’re the agent for a girl, Satine Noel?” He waited while Limos looked at him blankly. Did people really expect him to remember everyone’s name? “Uh, we checked, but I was wondering if you were aware that she was attacked last night. She’s in pretty bad shape, and you were the last one seen with her.” He waited for Limos to say something again, but Limos could only shrug his shoulder and move his hands in a rather baffled way. “I’m sorry…I do not know…”
“Mr. Théoden, you can’t tell me you don’t remember what happened last night.”
“I have a terrible memory, Detective. I assure you, I probably won’t remember this conversation by tomorrow morning.” He made a face at that, before he shook his head. “Look, I don’t know what happened to…..”
“Satine,” the detective offered.
“Satine. I don’t even remember what happened last night?” He frowned, before he reached out for the box of chocolates and the card. “Maybe you can find whoever this is, and ask them. But you’ll have to excuse me, I have some meetings to attend to.”
The detective frowned as he took the card and box of chocolates, before he nodded and stood. Limon was really as odd as people claimed. Limos saw the man out, before stalking back to his office and picking up his keys.
“Jennie,” He called from his desk, “call Kia Montgomery, and ask her if she can set up a meeting.” He didn’t wait for an answer, before he started toward the door. But he walked back to her desk a moment later. “That’s a café on M street we’ve gone to, ask her to meet me there? Call me with a time.” He started away again, but turned as his assistant picked up the phone. “And find out who sent the chocolates. Call….Call all the delivery places.” He turned again, only to pause and look back. “And push all my meetings back.”
And with that, he actually left the office he’d only arrived at twenty minutes ago.
