Evelyn, I am unsure how many details Vindictus has shared with you about the investigation currently going on at the school, or how much time he has had to contact you, especially over the last week. However, I am writing to you because I am concerned for your husband's well-being. I think we both know Vindictus to be a tenacious and capable man, but the strain of this investigation seems to be taking a heavy toll on him. He seems very agitated, frustrated, and paranoid that the students do not believe he is doing enough and blame him. His frequent ink spills over the journals and emphatic mood seem most unlike him. Of course, he is doing all that is humanly possible to aid the investigation, but I believe that he thinks that this is his sole responsibility -- or, that even if it is not, he has to shoulder all of the blame. With his sister and Auror Savage aiding in the investigation at this point and therefore capable of relieving some of Vindictus's burden, I see no reason why he should not take some time to himself for his own peace of mind. Not only, were he to have a nervous breakdown, would conditions at the castle be much worse, but as his friend, I am concerned. He is most adamant that he is fine and does not need rest, but I think he may be more willing to listen to you than to his colleagues at this point in time. As exams are this week, he does not even have the pressure of teaching. The professors and staff are concerned that, at this point in time, he may react badly if told that we contacted you and believe that we are conspiring against him -- he certainly seems to believe the students are. I am sure that you know how best to persuade him without mentioning this letter, being a bright woman and the one who knows Vindictus best. I hope that you and Valerius are both well. Horace |
