Wednesday 2 June 1943.
Wednesday 2 June 1943 Dear Aurors Savage and Viridian, This may seem rather odd coming from me, but I'm owling the two of you today on official business between Hogwarts and the Auror Office. However, given the circumstances, I must ask for the utmost discretion on your parts -- no other Aurors or members of the Ministry can be involved in this case at the moment, and you both know the media cannot be notified or an investigation will be much more difficult with them and the public interfering. You may have already heard from other Aurors who have children at Hogwarts that there have been a series of mysterious attacks on students at the school -- as of yesterday, there have been twelve victims, including a school-master; six of them are also in a condition that is similar to the Full Body-Bind, but irreversible and likely due to dark magic. The other six didn't see who attacked them, and none of the professors have been able to figure out how the perpetrator(s) are able to do what they're doing or how any of the evidence and testimonies come together. There was also a message written on a wall this morning, allegedly by the same parties, about how these attacks will continue until Muggle-borns leave the school; however, most of the victims have actually been Half-bloods. If you are wondering why I've waited so long to contact either of you about this, Headmaster Dippet has been adamant until yesterday that the first nine attacks were merely school-boy 'pranks' and forbade any of the staff from contacting the DMLE. And yes, I was about to get around that anyway to get in touch with you, but he was rather easily persuaded last night without my having to do anything. I would very much appreciate it then if you could perhaps come in outside of your usual working hours to visit the school and take a look at the latest crime scene, investigation notes, and possibly interview several suspects who have been identified by the victims and others. And again, this requires the utmost discretion so as not to incite a panic in the wizarding world that will only make this more difficult for all of us and ruin the good will the headmaster has extended to us. Thank you, and I look forward to your response and seeing both of you later today. Vindictus V. Viridian Duelling Master Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry |
