Dear Father, I ask that you please not show this letter to Mother. I have no desire to listen to her criticisms, and though I know that you care for her and you say that she cares for me, she shows her affection in a most grating manner. If I didn't have my NEWTs coming up quickly, I would request that I be withdrawn from Hogwarts straight away. I cannot stand to be in this castle any more. It has gone completely mad. Cecilia's father has been talking about removing her since the attacks and I almost envy her because she has a way out of here. Of course, I've worked too hard and sacrificed too much to give up on my NEWTs now, but I just can't wait until the end of term. On Saturday, four more people were attacked. They're all recovering but understandably the mood in the castle is extremely tense. Then, this afternoon, Headmaster Dippet chose to have an air raid drill and as I've told you before, they put the Gryffindors and Slytherins together during air raids and you know what a good idea that is. There was a brawl and it's just so tense and uncomfortable. I'm tired of being here. Seven years in this school has been more than enough. I miss you terribly, Father. I am also tired of receiving letters from Mother rather than you. I hope that you are well, and that you aren't too busy with work. I know that the Department of Intermagical Cooperation must have a lot to do with the situation in the East, and you must have a lot to do with Helen's wedding. Still, I would appreciate a reply when you get the chance. Love, ![]() |
