Dear Aloysius, First let me begin by expressing my displeasure at having to hear of the incidents at Hogwarts through Mrs. Travers rather than from you. It is your responsibility to keep me informed on all matters concerning both your and your sister's well-being. That said, with Professor Slughorn's assurances I have decided to keep Cecilia in school for the time. I am confident that you and Evander will continue to keep an eye on both Cee and Cressida and will inform me immediately should you think their safety in immediate danger. This is not, however, the intentions of my letter. Having taken steps subsequent to news of Cee's enlistment, I have made arrangements with the Malfoys which I realize may at first give her some discomfort. While it pains me to see her distressed, I have made the decision for Cecilia's well-being to arrange the engagement between she and the eldest Malfoy, Lucius. In the end, I believe this will be to everyone's best interest and I dearly hope she will quickly come to find him a suitable match. If we proceed quickly with the nuptials, Cecilia will be spared enlistment and we can assure her safety with more accuracy for longer. Further, even without the threat of war, a marriage with the Malfoys is sure to be seen as wholly appropriate and Aloysius, I would ask you tell your sister in the gentlest terms possible. I wish that I might keep her at home forever, but I have come to realize that it is not possible. Particularly not now. Your mother agrees that your sister ought to be married immediately, if for different reasons than myself. It has been a difficult decision, but I have every confidence that it will all be right in the end. I should think you yourself will soon begin thinking in a similar vein; you are never very far behind your sister. Write to me should you need any advice in the matter. Take care of yourself, will you dear boy? Love, Father |
