[The first letter was addressed to Kennan and Jameson with a second for Graeme]
Boys,
I think your father said it best last night when we received an owl from Graeme: thank Nessie at least one of you has the courtesy to tell us what is going on at school. Now, I know neither of you are happy with him as of late, especially you, Jamie, but does that really warrant keeping secrets from your mum?
You are both fortunate that I drew the short straw this time, so here we go. A lecture. Your father would want me to scream at your professors and the pair of you for not being more responsible. Your mum would worry about your well being. Both would want you to pack your trunks and plan on coming home this Saturday. (Yes, the little snitch told us about this weekend as well.) Being your uncle, I am going to remain calm and keep faith in your superiors as well as both of your abilities to use your brains and listen to their instruction. Five mysterious attacks is something to be concerned about, especially with two happening in your own house, and if anymore do happen I want you to let us know immediately. I cannot guarantee how your parents will react but at least we will know what is going on in your lives.
Kenny, I urge you to remain focused on your studies as well as your brothers. NEWTs are not to be taken lightly and you will need all the extra sleep you can grasp. We will all see about your willingness to join the war efforts this weekend or when you are home. Jamie, my brave lad, Drummond may not agree with what you have decided but know that your mum and I are behind you one hundred percent. I know his logic may not seem clear right now, but trust me when I say it is with good intentions that he wanted to see you fighting if anything else. When he was your age his own dream was to become a Hitwizard for the Ministry. Your grandfather put a stop to it, and I will be drowned in Loch Ness before I see another dream crushed in this family due to ridiculous expectations. The same goes with you, Kenny. Your father may believe fighting and being with men who know how to fight is the best way to protect yourselves but I say staying within the hospitals and the communication centers will hold just as much risk. You are good lads. Good men. At least choose where and how you want to fight before the ministry does it for you.
Do go easy on your brother. He may be a teenager now but he is still a scared child in many ways, and don't you dare tell him I said that. He thinks I favor him the best and keep his confidence. Remember that together you can. Either your father or I will see one of you this Saturday I hope. Your mum hopes for a letter from at least one of you by the end of next week.
Concerned but hopeful,
Uncle Millan
PS: Jamie. Tell your friend, Hector, it may be best to keep his opinions to himself for a while, but thank him for the particular shade of red in your father's face. It was rather amusing.
