A talk about a job, and place on Lorrayna Phoenix. Who: Emerald; LOCKED to Lola Where: Paquin- The Marrs Estate When: May 11th, 8AM after breakfast. Why: Because it’s something Lula really wants, even if it might be awkward. Rating? PG Status: Incomplete
Emerald spoke in detail to General Marrs concerning Lula’s request. Explaining everything to him about the job, Serenity, and Lula’s feeling about Talos and things in general. The man had always had an odd sort of understanding with the woman; long after all the others on the property went to sleep, except for patrolling guards, the old acquaintances stayed speaking, discussing all matters. After decisions were decided upon Emerald was given her old room, which oddly still hadn’t been changed any.
In the morning she was invited to breakfast, where the majority of the family eats together. Most the household always started early in the day, so breakfast was usually served at seven in the morning. All of those at the table knew Emerald years before, when she was known by a different name and lived with the Marrs’. Jonathan Marrs, the girls’ father and head of the house hold, introduced the lady captain as Emerald Storm, Johannes' Captain. Not many mention, or verbalize the oddity of the changed name, since everyone, or at leased those of the family and any house hands that worked for the family years ago when she lived at the estate under another name, and friend of Lula’s and a few of the others. Nobody seems to question the name difference, but all those that knew her do remember. She wasn’t the sort of woman you forget. He also explained that she was in town for a few days.
Emerald really didn’t speak a whole lot, unless spoken to. People’s opinions and thoughts on her being there where mixed, although most weren’t spoken aloud. However, they didn’t need to be, do they? Lula was giddy to see Emerald at breakfast, and sat next to her while they ate. After finishing, the captain lady made her way towards the library in the main section of the house. After everyone else had gone about their morning business Lola’s father approached her, saying that their guest would like to speak to her in the library.

[info]highflying_lola 2008-05-27 02:23 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Lola had been somewhat startled to see Kara/Emerald at breakfast. She didn't offer much to the conversation herself, mostly concentrating on her food instead. Giving her mother a reassuring smile when she turned concerned eyes on her.
It wasn't that Lola didn't like Emerald, it really wasn't because she liked the woman just fine. Even though of them somewhat as friends. But seeing her there and how excited Lula was.. well it had Lola wondering if she'd be loosing her sister again. She wasn't sure if she could handle that again. If she could ever forgive Kara Emerald for stealing her twin twice.
She'd been surprised when her father had approached her, letting her know that Kara Emerald wanted to speak with her. Though something, she wasn't sure exactly what since it was an odd mix of fear, anxiety, and maybe interest, settled in her stomach, she headed toward the library. Mostly curious what it was the other woman wanted from her. Surly she wasn't actually planning on telling her that Lula and she were taking off again, without her, was she?
Letting out a deep breath she pulled the library doors open and stepped in. When her eyes found Emerald she walked closer, looking curious. "I was told you wanted to speak with me?" (Reply to this)(Thread)
[info]drunkincapngal 2008-05-28 07:43 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Emerald had gotten distracted with a book while she’d been waiting. Something that was sitting on a side table next to the sofa she was sitting on. A Chinese folk tale about dragons, something she’d heard once or twice and really loved the story. She hadn’t heard the doors open or close, so when Lola spoke, she startled Emerald a bit. Then she closed the book returning it to its place, and took to her feet. It wasn’t that things where necessarily weird between the two. But, it felt that way to Emerald. Mostly it was the woman’s fear of what Lula might have said happened last time when the girl returned home, with out Emerald… or rather at the time, without Kara. And then, Lola’s favorite cousin left with her and Lorrayna, and, well the captain wasn’t exactly sure how the other girl felt about any of it. She didn’t know if Oddball was Lola’s favorite, but it was sure apparent she and Lula was his.
The dark haired woman nodded then, “Ahh, yeah.” How was she to ask this, or say it? She didn’t even know if she’d fancy the idea in the slightest and if Lula had spoken of anything that’d happened, well, and then Emm could already guess at Lola’s answer. It’d be a big fat hell no. But, the girls’ father didn’t seem to know, so maybe Lola didn’t. But then the two were close and shared things most people couldn’t. She sighed; she’d just do it simply. She wouldn’t get lost in small talk, or dance around the question. “I don’t know how to guess you might feel, or what your answer might be. But… your sister wants more than anything to come back to Lorrayna. I’m guessing she misses it something fierce.” She stopped, and then continued with a small sigh.
“But, she wants you to come along with her. Lula refuses to go without you, and well… I talked to your father last night about it. And he said long as it was right by you, for the both of you to join the ship, and the crew, well then he’d allow it. But, would you want to?” She spoke, looking Lola in the face. Then with the last question she sound curious, Emerald didn’t even know if she’d want to leave and head into the black. It was why Emerald never even considered it the first time. Though considering the way things turned out, Emerald was glad Lola hadn’t gone with them; some how it would have made it all so much worse. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]highflying_lola 2008-07-08 05:11 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Lola made an apologetic noise, as she hadn't realized Emerald was into the book. She hadn't mean to startle the other woman. Of course, her fears were unnecessary, since Lula hadn't told her anything about what had happened. Not really. And now that she was standing in this room, face to face with Emerald, it did sort of bring back the curiousness.
She folded her hands together behind her back too keep from fidgeting them. Emeralds reluctance to say what she was thinking had the shorter girl getting even more nervous. And then it felt like someone had pulled all the air from her lungs, especially with the pause the Captain took. All Lola could think was Lula wants to leave again. She's going to leave without me again. The thought nearly made her knees buckle.
Then Emerald was speaking again, and it took her ears a moment to catch it, but this time her knees did buckle and she just barely managed to sink into the couch cushion instead of on the floor. She just sat on the couch, staring up at the woman, for a moment. Trying to gauge if it was for real. "Would I want to?" She sounded confused, but only because she truly couldn't understand how that was even a question.
"Of course I want to," she said firmly. Then offered up a somewhat hesitant smile. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]drunkincapngal 2008-07-11 11:29 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Emerald watched the girl, completely unaware of her fears about Lula leaving without her again. Although she did see a hint of it in her eyes, but, didn’t know what it was. When Lola found herself on the couch, Emerald moved over and sat down beside her, sideways; one leg and knee folded on the cushions, the other hanging off the side of it.
Emerald bit her lips some listening to Lola; hearing the confusion and taking it as if she didn’t know if she wanted to or not. And the older woman, started thinking how she was going to tell Lula, who seemed so happily wanting to go. But then she nodded a bit when she answered. And emerald gave a look that said, you don’t have to, if you don’t want. … “You sure? Cause, it’d be wonderful. But, you don’t have to. And, well, things be a bit, complicated lately, with me helping out Talos and other stuff. Sometimes work gets a bit… well dangerous. But… you and Lula won’t see any of it. Ships safe, keeps folk out, you should know that.” She knew she sounded rambly, but, she figured Lola needed to know, that going with them meant there might be risk at some point.
She knew that Lola knew that the ship had really advanced shielding, and weapons, along with two of the shuttles, the specially designed ones. It would have always have been clear what the ship was built for, so, Emerald sort of felt that maybe she didn’t need to point it out. But, thought it was needed, maybe she forgot, or, being sheltered here on Paquin, she never known what it might be like. Emm didn’t want to frighten the girl from changing her mind. But, felt everyone that ever got on her ship, that, they needed to know what sort of crew they were joining. Then she added, “I was really hopin’ you’d want to… cause… well I could really use your pilotin’ skills. And, I know you can fly her.” (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]highflying_lola 2008-07-16 12:46 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select It was something Lula never seemed to pick up on either, which Lola didn't fully understand but appreciated nonetheless. She didn't want her petty jealousy and insecurity shared.
When Emerald gave her the look, she straightened her back and held her head up higher. Her eyes hardening slightly, her jealousy making Emeralds innocent question and look into the older woman trying to prod her into changing her mind. Especially when the woman continued speaking and listing all the downfalls of her going along. "I am very sure Captain." She folded her hands in her lap, nodding. "Complicated, that's a good word for Talos." She turned to look at the woman, repeating her like she was confused by what the other woman was saying. "Won't see any of the danger?" Curious, "are there really folk on ships like yours who don't see the danger?" The younger girl didn't sound scared, she wasn't looking forward to danger or anything, but she was willing to take the risk. Willing to do anything to not be left behind this time.
Lola had never been the best engineer, but she'd seen the girls plans. She knew all about the ship, and it wasn't really something you could ever forget. Nor was the ships purpose. Neither of these were big enough things to stop her. Though Emeralds final statement made her pause a bit. "You want me to fly Lorrayna?" She knew she could fly her too, but the fact that Emerald wanted her to fly, that was something else entirely. It was surprising, and an honor. And also the scariest thing she'd heard through the whole conversation. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]drunkincapngal 2008-08-25 08:35 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Emerald wasn’t trying to make Lola change her mind; she just wanted the other woman to be aware. Same as any individual that joined her ship, the Verse could be nasty. And Emerald had a personal vendetta against the Alliance as a whole. So, often she didn’t tread lightly. She sometimes was very stubborn when set with a certain idea.
The dark haired woman nodded when she stated she was very sure. Well then, to the Captain it was settled. She chuckled some at Lola stating complicated was a good word for Talos. “O’course they see parts of it, was just meaning. Won’t see more than you have to, have… people… that take most the danger face on. And even when it comes to us, purple bellies, and everyone else for that matter can fire on us all they like. But thanks to Lorrayna’s shielding, thanks to her unique design. It’d take a great many vessels to breach our securities. So, all within, are usually kept from seeing the danger. But, there’s always risk in any path a person takes, no matter how simple or innocent a thing is. And well, innocent would not describe me and mine.”
She grinned almost giggly. “Yeah I do. I even figure you’re the best choice, maybe always was the best choice. Of all the pilots she’s had, even her last pervious one, who could handle her somethin’ smooth as could be. I know you’ll do her justice, and well coming from a nice long line of genius pilots, I know you were meant to. Meant to be in the skies, not here planet-side. Really when was the last time you were in-the-black? I’ll be guessing, a while… at least truly free, just letting yourself be soaked in. Running between surface and moons is something entirely different than sailing across the ‘Verse.” (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]highflying_lola 2008-09-09 03:31 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Had it been anyone else sitting there, explaining these things, these downfalls and risk to her, then Lola would have looked at it logically and understood. But because it was Emerald, and despite her trying, honestly trying, she still felt some resentment toward the woman, she couldn't look at what she was telling her logically. Not really.
Not that it really matter, because even the immediate threat of a Reaver attack wouldn't be enough to keep Lola planetside this time. If she was honest, there was a good chance, should they have left her on Paquin this time, she would have borrowed a ship of some sort and followed them. Lola nodded at the Captains further explanation, actually sharing a small smile at the last bit. Couldn't be helped though, when she thought of her cousin Oddball on board, she most defiantly didn't think of the word innocent in conjunction with him.
The look Lola have Emerald then would have fooled anyone into thinking she was the other twin (if you ignored the difference in their eyes and hair, anyways), what with her tilty head and considering eyes. Then she turned her head upright completely again, sporting a small smile and looking like herself once more. "Sheh-sheh," she said quietly, unsure about the compliment really, but her momma raised her right. She narrowed her eyes again, just a touch. "It's been awhile," she agreed. She'd been busy trying to protect Lula, and helping their parents, and trying to pile all these things that weren't her responsibility onto herself.
"This previous pilot of yours, they're no longer flyin' her?" She couldn't be sure, but the petite brunette had thought it sounded suspiciously like she'd be the only actual pilot on board. Which might be a little scary, actually.
