Awakenings Who: Vladmir, hopefully Dori & Simon if they don't mind Where: Lorrayna Phoenix, Docked on Paquin When: May 10th, about 11 in the evening Why: Vladmir would like to be awake now. Rating: PG (the old man just woke up, he feels mellow) Status: Incomplete, OPEN
Vladmir opened his eyes to see he wasn't in the shadow anymore. He looked for a doctor. He didn't even try to get out of bed, knowing that would increase his downtime. Vladmir couldn't stand not working, so he didn't want to be injured and longer than he already was. He didn't want to make it worse either.
"Hey, Doc. Where am I? Is this the Lorrayna Phoenyx? Where's the captain?"

[info]civilizedman_st 2008-04-20 02:34 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Simon was sitting in a chair near the double doors that lead to the main infirmary area. Three of the six beds in this area had patients on them; Simon notices somebody moving slightly. So he placed his book down in his chair and moved over to the man. He noticed it was the first that was operated on, which meant he’d been the worse of the three. Simon knew that the second man had woken earlier before landing; he’d been awake off-and-on, and the Captain had already spoken with him during the afternoon.
When the man started talking Simon gave a small smile, “Yes, this is the Lorrayna Phoenix. I think Captain Storm is tending to ahhh… things. I can’t really say. I’m simply assisting Lorrayna’s medic, ummm she may know where her Captain is, if you would like be to find out from the lady?” (Reply to this)(Thread)
[info]steelhydra 2008-04-20 11:06 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Vladmir looked at the young doctor and said "I see. Than am I to assume you and the resident doctor are the ones who saved our lives? If so, I thank you. I wasn't expecting to get shot."
Vladmir then asked "Two questions. First, where is the other doctor so I can thank them as well. Second, can I have the bullets i got tagged with? I want to put them in my memory box with the other 26 I've had removed before?" (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]civilizedman_st 2008-04-21 10:21 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Simon nodded, “You have assumed correctly. Miss Dori and I are the ones that preformed the surgeries that saved your life.” He quirked his eye brows curiously, “I do believe that not many of those that are shot, expect it.” Then he added in a slightly befuddled manner, “Umm, with exception of those willingly going into a gun fight.”
“Bu no worries, it’s our job do just that.” Simon then added, nodding again. Oddly reflecting how if the man had been Jayne, Simon would have never gotten a thank you out of him. Maybe Dori would have, but for a completely different reason besides her medical doctoring.
“The other Doctor; she is in the main infirmary section.” He point to the double doors, “Past those doors, or in her office which is also off of the other room. Last I’d seen of her anyway.” Simon explained. Simon nodded; it was a sort of odd request. But he’d heard it before. He didn’t comment on the about of times being shot. But he found that odd, the number. The man must have been over telling the amount, for the simple reason that Simon hadn’t seen that many scars. “Well, If Dori hasn’t discarded the bullets. Then I’m sure she wouldn’t have a problem with that request; however I’m unsure if she kept them or not.”
Simon moved over next to the bed, figuring it’d be best to physically check his vitals at this time. “You had two slugs that were removed; one was in your stomach region, the other in your shoulder. You also had a clear shot wound in the arm on the same side as the shoulder wound, meaning the bullet hit the arm and passed completely threw.” Simon checked his heart rate, listened to his lungs and heart. “I have to take a look at the wounds, make sure that everything is looking good. Infection can be horrid, though no worries. I don’t foresee that happening, and if it were Lorrayna is stocked with the finest medications this side of the Verse.” (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]doctor_dori 2008-04-23 12:34 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Dori has been in the main infirmary. Strangely enough she'd been cleaning up the bullets they'd collected, making sure she knew which bullets belong to which man. It was a common thing back in the war for folk to keep anything that was removed from their body (bullets, fragments, shrapnel, that sort of thing).
She came back into the room, hands tucked into her pockets, just as Simon mentioned Lorrayna being stocked. "Well we do try ta keep stocked," she agreed. She smiled a little upon seeing Vladmir awake. "Wei! How ya feelin'?" (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]steelhydra 2008-04-24 12:28 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select "I don't feel like I got hit by a mule now so I gotta say both of you did a good job. I'm 94 years old and have been shot 26 other times during my life. I mine Silvyte so my old wounds are calloused over or covered with newer scars."
He then stops takes a breath and says "I thought this one was gonna be my last rodeo." He then looks towards the resident doctor and asks "Ya saved my slugs, right? Ya know, old gunslingers thing." He then got a look of fear on his face. "Where's my boy? Where's Greg? Is he alive?" (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]_angelofdeath_ 2008-04-24 01:23 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select The doctors and the old man hear in an soul-chilling voice, "I'm right here." The younger man then looked at Dori & Simon and said "How many slugs did I have removed. And where's my knife? I don't want it. I just wanna know it wasn't left behind." He then thought for a second and then said "You did find my dog tags sayin I'm allergic to penacillin, right? I don't wanna swell up like a baloon. You know what I mean?" [info]civilizedman_st 2008-04-24 02:40 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Simon nodded slightly at the arrival of Dori, a small smile followed it. He listened to the man talk, knowing that he didn’t exactly appear to be that old. So sort of in response Simon was staring at him in a bit of disbelieve. He looked at least 20 years younger if not a bit more. Or maybe he had just kept in good shape. The doctor shrugged it off a bit.
The young doctor was going to point out the other men in the infirmary, unsure which would have been his son, but then he spoke and Simon didn’t need to worry about it. “There was one removed; was in your upper chest. It got lodged between your rip cage. You’re awful lucky, if it hadn’t been stopped it’s very likely it would have penetrated your right lung and that surly would have killed you without immediate medical attention, or even on the spot.” Then he nodded again, “Yes, they were around your neck. No need to worry, you were given an alternative drug. It should be alright, though if you experience any sort of reaction let me or Dori” Simon pointed to the woman doctor, “know immediately.” Far as the knife Simon had not an idea, and hoped Dori could cover that point.
Then as he’d warned Vladmir, he removed the bandages over the wounds, the arm and shoulder first and then the stomach area. Everything looked to be healing up nicely. He resealed the bandages, and then smiled at the man. “Everything looks to be healing nicely, though in the morning we’ll come to change these bandages for fresh ones.” (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]doctor_dori 2008-04-25 01:27 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select "Sounds ta me like ya been livin' a rough life," she said to Vladmir with a little nod. Not even phased by his claim of being 94. After all it wouldn't be the first time a persons looks were decieving.
At his question about his slugs, she nodded. "'Course. Don't throw none of 'em out 'til I know they ain't wanted." Dori felt a shiver run up her spin as a new voice joined the conversation. Though she turned in the direction of it with a slightly raised brow. "Nothin' of no value got left, so yer knifes 'round here somewhere." Her tone clearly read that it was something that could be worried about later. "Ya gonna want yer slug like yer old man?" And in her curious doctor way, "an' how ya feelin'?"
After Simon spoke, she nodded to Gregorio. "We'll change yers, and yer friends, up for clean ones then too." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]steelhydra 2008-04-25 11:32 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Vladmir looked towards Dori and said with a little smile, "Good thing he's alive. I can't afford to hire another security officer on my little rinky dink ship. That and I can't cook worth a crap. Greg went to a culinary school on Ariel. Cost me an arm and a leg to send him, though"
He then asked the doctors a question. "There's an old mechanical powered wheelchair on my ship in the infirmary. Am I clear to use it yet so I can look around without hurtin myself? I really would like to look around. Can't stand bein still for very long." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]doctor_dori 2008-04-25 04:05 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select "Good thin' all three of ya are," the Doc nodded. Then Dori looked over at the man, a little surprised for some reason that he could cook. "Culinary school, aye? We gotta couple folk on board who might just fall in love wit' ya then. Big time food lovers," she sounded amused.
Since the two doctors hadn't stuck around with their crews to hunt for things, she couldn't be completely sure what was left behind. But she knew her crew, so she doubted anything of value or use was. "Haveta let Simon answer tha' one, since he's done checked out yer wounds already." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]civilizedman_st 2008-04-26 05:31 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Simon nodded, just listening while the man talked about his son and the schooling on Ariel. He really didn’t have anything to comment on it. Simon wasn’t the best cook, which is actually an understatement if you’d ever eaten his cooking, although it’s not always awful and sometimes editable. And River doesn’t always want to throw it at him.
The young man nodded, “Ummm, I do believe if you have help getting into and out of the chair, and you don’t do a lot of lifting or moving things with your arms, well then you should be alright to move about. One of us should help lift you in and out of it, and then another person should walk with you so you aren’t alone in case of anything. But you’re looking good; healing nicely, quicker than many folks I’ve seen after such a surgery as yours was.” (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]steelhydra 2008-04-27 03:31 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Vladmir looks at simon and says "Fantastic! If someone will go get the chair, I'd appreciate it. It's on board the Shadow. It's in the infirmary. The door is marked with a King Of Hearts at about eye level. It's on the right after you board. Whoever gets it, tell em' I said dont whack their head on the external tow rigging. It hurts like a son' bitch if you do. It has a motor and batteries so you could ride it here. When you get it out I have a wheelchair lift that will put it on the floor of Lorrayna's cargo bay." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]doctor_dori 2008-04-29 03:26 am (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Dori smiled a little at how enthusiastic the man seemed to move around. She turned to Simon, "Ifin' ya don't mind sittin' 'ere a tick, I'll go find Capin' and see where his chair is?" She also planned to make sure it was alright with Emm if Vladmir rolled around. Not that she thought the woman would mind, but it was better to be certain. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]civilizedman_st 2008-05-10 10:49 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Simon nodded; he had not a problem with staying. He could go ahead and check the other man’s bandages, vitals, and whatnot. “That’s fine with me, Miss Dori.” He offered a small smile. It was a very small smile, but still a smile.
Emerald still in fact hadn’t returned to the ship yet; which could easily be learned if asking Gwen, or even Oddball. Neither Emerald of Monica had retuned to the ship by this time. Oddball knew where the chair was. But he wouldn’t have known the answer on whether or not she’d want the other man moving around the ship in the wheel chair. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
[info]doctor_dori 2008-05-19 09:27 pm (local) (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Dori was surprisingly amused at being called Miss Dori and flashed him a small smile back.
Glancing at both men, she nodded, "well alright then, be back in a tick." Then she left the infirmary to hunt down her crew and get some answers. She figured even if she couldn't find Emm and none of the others would make the judgment call, well then he'd just have to roll around the infirmary for a bit was all. (Reply to this)(Parent)
