lula Lula had been rather satisfied at finding the girls and flyboy the day before. She'd given them the tools needed to help her Nim... well she wasn't her Nim anymore, was she? But the lady was still her Johannes’ captain. And Lula wanted nothing more than to be helpful. To help her pretty birdie and the birdies caretakers. So yet again Lula had slipped out of her sister's watchful eye. Her bag was over her shoulder snugly with another large wrapped gift inside of it. The girl had been satisfied with the making of the thing and along with the one she had given 'the protector'.
Lula stood at 5'3", and very noticeably scrawny for her height. However not sickly so. She had brown hair with chucks of white laced throughout all of it. She wore a bright colorful outfit and no shoes. The clothing showed off her familyies apparent money, however the lack of foot wear was odd. But then that was Lula, and odd little bird that does what she pleases, even now. Lula sat on a bench waiting for Talos to pass by. She knew his face; she'd seen it many times now. He was part of the plans, not always but now he was so. The other face had faded, the one that had known the angry red head. He was gone, and Talos was in his stead; of course he didn't know, nobody even knew. The pawns always unaware before the match should begin. Only it had begun. Only just, but everything was in motion. And Lula was ready to help and even considered joining in the fight; for it would be a fight, not as simple as it seemed. Not for coin, not to sell; but to find the secrets, to share the secret that would destroy the monsters. The monster that broke her Nim, and her ownself. Many others in the black, in the dirt, lost because of the scary monsters. Not men, couldn’t be.
talos Talos was on move again. Peeking out of his gray jacket was his old Alliance gray sidearm; it seemed as though his efforts to blend with the evening theater crowed where for not, as the eyes of passersby seemed drawn to conspicuous item. After three years on Paquin he found the planet’s festive atmosphere had become jarring, and was finally testing his patience. lately he is running out of resources, both financially and navigational. He was thinking of riding with a crew. Any crew. It didn’t really matter, he just had to go. There wasn’t a lot of available space on many ship for an ex-Alliance out-of-work mercenary. He’d just gotten paid for a hit job; he’d killed some gangster no one had ever heard off for a measly amount, just enough for a room and some bullets.
As he was walked through the crowed he saw this girl. She had brown hair with some white highlights… but something seemed strangely off. Examining the situation further, it occurred to him that despite the way she was dressed she lacked shoes.
He found this rather puzzling…a feeling which only grew when he realized that she, among the crowd, was not moving. She was really small and appeared to be by herself. Talos really wanted to go to sleep, get some more ammo and find a ship to get off this rock for some real work, but something told him he couldn’t just leave. He walked up to her and was going to offer his help - to try and find out what is going on. It was bad enough she looked like she had money on her but she had a bag on her shoulder… No shoes and a bag…this did not look promising. His moment like this training kicked in, whether he wanted to or not. He was going to walk by ,but realized that he would not get any sleep if he just left her there.
As he walked approached her, she continued to stare at him. Knowing the possible danger he was about to speak , but something stopped him. What it was he couldn’t quite say, but it was something about her stare.
lula Lula had waited all day; she hadn't seen him once. So she wandered and then came back to her little spot. Some of the people that passed and knew who she was tried talking her into going home once the sun had set; that her family would be looking for her. Which was funny cause one of her cousins seemed to pass just then and told the folk that she'd be alright. That Lula, whatever she was up to, could take care of herself. And then he ran home and told her sister, Lola, where her twin was. Lula only found that funnier than anything in days.
But now she was sitting back on the bench; and not only had she spotted Talos as she stared at him knowing that he is important, but the puppy had found his way to her. She laughed just a touch. Yeah, he'd be puppy. She eyed the weapon under his jacket. Alliance? She hadn't known that, it wouldn't matter. The gem captain didn't care where you come from, just that once you join her you're loyal and have no problem plundering both sides. Although usually it was Alliance boats Emerald raided for no particular reason.
Lula stood as he approached her. She smiled a friendly welcoming smile. Although this next part was what she hated, the talking. But she had ways around that, the easiest she didn't use often; since it usually scares the gorram out of everyone. So she just waited for him to talk, then she'd deal with her inability to do so her own self. She spotted the patrol officers that were on the street making sure that nobody got rowdy. Sometimes in the evenings there could be nasty fights and the like; especially by some of the tourists who often enough were actually more than that.
talos Talos had been up for 26 hours straight, he as tired, and hungry. But he couldn’t leave this young woman alone in the middle of the crowded street. He walked up to her; making sure is posture was not threatening And let down his guard a little bit he said in a mumbled voice “where are your parents? It’s dangerous for someone like you to be out here. Do you know where you live? Can I take you somewhere safe??” he just looked and strangely she stood there look at him smiling a warm smile not knowing what to make of this situation.
lula She made a face at the mention of her parents. She knew where they were and was a chance her sister was on her way to snatch Lula up and take her home. But she couldn't let that happen, not just yet. So Lula knowing what to do smiled even more, a smile that sort of said thank you without the actual words. And then she shook her head slightly, a bit of a yes. And without giving him a moment to respond to her mostly lack of response, she linked her arm around his. And then pointed down the street, she wasn't pointing toward home, but a place that a friend owned. It would be out of sight, plus she could order food for the both of them. She was famished to, since she'd mostly not eaten while she waited; although she normally didn't have a big appetite anyway.
talos Caught of guard he realized her arm was around his, he looked at where she was pointing. It was a small food shop. Looking around he say these men he recognized where at the lobby of the building he was in not to long ago so without though he walked with her trying to cover his face with his cap.
he opened the door for her and he gave her his jacket. “its not much but you can have it, it will keep you warm for now id give you shoes but I don’t carry those on me a lot” he said to her . He examined the areas for emergency exits and possible a possible place to sit. He leaned over and told her “Im sorry my name is talos and I guess dinner is on me” he said with a smile. Lula reminded him of an adopted sister he had. He had made up his mind that he would watch over her and take care of her no matter the injury to him and his wallet no matter how empty it would be. And hopefully find her family so at least she would be safe.
lula Lula watched him shielding his face. She eyed the men with a small twitch of her nose. She would have said Sheh Sheh at the giving of his jacket. She didn’t find it entirely needed since she was use to the cool Paquin nights. But it was nice. So she slid her arms into it and smiled tilting her head. She sort of laughed, she could make noise. She couldn’t speak, but it was more of a too frighten to. Her voice box was fine. She just hadn’t spoken for many many years. She reached into her bag were she had placed her shoes. She lifted them to show him she had some, and then put them back. Lula hated wearing them, even in town. But she took them just so Lola wouldn’t find them laying around and yell at her.
Inside the shop it was a quaint eatery with back rooms for guests. A young man, Joshua, the owner’s son spotted Lula. Her father had given his father the money to start the shop many years ago. And apparently he had learned since then that in the time of war both had fought together on the independence side. He waved to the girl, eyeing the man carefully. He was almost glaring since he didn’t recognize him. Least he didn’t think he knew him. Joshua approached the two.
Lula smiled, no worries she’d planned on paying. But she could say so. She noticed the owner’s son and she waved back as she led Talos in that direction. Lula pointed to one of the private rooms, and then gave the young man a puppy face basically asking if she could use it. He nodded. “Yep, Miss Lula ya can… Long as ya don’t mess anything up.” He said teasingly. She gave him a playful giggle. “Ummm, are you with her? I mean I don’t know ya?” Joshua said in a bit of a protective tone. Lula shook her head as a response thinking why she would have had his arm if he wasn’t. Folk just silly. The girl moved into the room to one of the long dinning tables; leaving Talos with the young man for a moment with the door open. Figured he’d have questions maybe for him, since honestly Lula hadn’t said anything really to Talos, which in most company is plain weird.
talos Stood in front of the door way and look at the young man up and down he asked “does she have anywhere to go any family I mean I saw out alone in the street and didn’t think it would be safe for her to be out there alone. So is there anywhere I can bring her and will she be ok I do not want to leave her alone” he said at the boy he was willing to let her keep the jacket .
He sat down on the table for a while with this strange young girl. And trying to make conversation asked “so uh u got any jobs I can take I do protection security hit jobs…………just kidding you haven’t said a word and I don’t think a nice girl like you needs a dangerous person like me.” he said laughing and sipping some water from the cup that was in front of him.
So there he sat in a way protecting the young girl from any harm and for some reason he had grown attached to her as if leaving her would bother him for some reason.
lula Joshua nodded, “Yeah. She has family, a whole mess of them actually. Although I’m sure they don’t know she was out by herself. She shouldn’t be left out by herself.” He didn’t add to the reason why, other than the apparent one. “Thank you for looking after her.” The young man found Talos to be genuinely concerned for Lula and that was good. “Her parent’s home is a few miles outside of town… to the East. They own a whole lot of land, many places in town too. After you eat I can fetch a mule for you to take up that way. If ya would like, Mister.” He watched Lula through the doorway. “Although you should know, Lula, she doesn’t speak. Hasn’t long as I’ve known her. She has ways of letting you know what she wants though. I’ll send somebody in to take your orders in a few.” And with that he headed away to the back.
Lula had taken out the wrapped package and placed it on the table. She smiled at Talos when he sat down. At his question she perked a brow, chuckled a bit at his nice girl comment. It was true but only sort of. She slipped out a data book, the one she used for writing to people she needed to talk to. She typed something quick into it and then handed it across to him. “I’m Lula. Sorry for not saying so sooner. Talos is a shiny name. Work to be had on Lorrayna Phoenix. The gem captain could use you, like snow at Christmas time. Santa has more gifts to give.”
talos He picked it up and read and a smile the almost no one ever sees grew on his face. He looked at her with a warm grin.“lula Is a beautiful name, you know I had a sister she was not my blood but she mind as well have been she looked like you I loved her a lot so much.”
“So you know a crew I can join”? he found it hard to believe this girl was on a crew the man just said she had a home to go to why would she go out in the verse for?? And she looked like she was well off for money. The dinner he had ordered came it was so long. He hadn’t had a full-course meal in such a long time and he was truly enjoying it. He looked up at her and after he drank his water
“is there somewhere safe I can bring somewhere you will be taken care off and warm?”
lula Lula smiled listening to him. She nodded her head; yep she knew a ship. She wrote in the data book again. “Yeah, Birdie be here in a few days. Emerald, Emerald Storm is the captain. Ya can tell her little Marrs sent you. Or maybe I’ll go with ya, my cousin Johannes is on her crew. Open your present. When we leave, it should be out of sight. Less eyes the better.” She handed over the data book once more, and then slid the wrapped item that had been sitting next to her this whole time. She then went back to her food finishing it up. She hadn’t answered about where he could take her, but that was because she wasn’t ready to go home. Despite the fact he could sense her sister was freaking out looking for her. She didn’t want to worry her, but she was fine.
talos Talos couldn’t believe that she new a ship with a crew still even after she gave him names and a time. He cleaned his hands And read the data book at held the package. “thank you so much he said” he went into his wallet and took out a old faded picture of his adopted sister he put it in the data book and gave it to her. And gave it back to her. He grabbed her hand “ you remind me so much of her and I will keep my eye on you and not let anything happen to you until you are safe and sound ill take care of you first by paying for this” he took out all the money he had and went to go pay for the dinner this meant his wallet was empty but as long as she was well fed and energized he didn’t care who would never abandon his sister ever again.
lula She took back the data book with the picture. She was pretty. Lula was happy for him; he seemed to already become attached to her. It was sweet. And she chuckled at his thoughts about Zorya. She was going to pay for dinner but that’s fine she’d let him. And when he comes back he could open up the gift and then she’d tell him he could stay at her family’s home until Emerald Storm arrived.
When he unwrapped the brown paper that was tied with colored strings it revealed what appeared to be an automatic rifle. It was modeled after the old L86A1 LSW; a heavy –barreled support version of the L85. However it seemed a tad different, perhaps a newer model even. It’s fashioned out of a shiny silver rather light-weight metal. The magazine contains 30 shots, and is able to strap a 200 shot belt to it with the use of a bipod; which is also wrapped up next to the gun itself. The gun has a laser telescopic sight, upon looking at it closer the sight has a starlight scope setting also that it can be switch between. Which in it’s self isn’t found anywhere, to meld the two. Most all guns only have one of the other. In addition to that the gun had a double barrel, which when looking at was apparently almost entirely another gun in its’ self built into the automatic rifle. Being that it was a laser shot, with a double set of triggers beneath the first. Laser pistols inflict more damage than a normal weapon and the wounds they inflict are considered burn wounds and thus are much harder to heal. Laser weapons require extremely high-density batteries. The gun had a slot for the batteries, which seemed to be also refashioned. This indicated that if he had any sort of skill at recognizing the energy and laser type of a weapon, that the energy type and source was defiantly different. Any person especially an Alliance soldier that would have used your normal new-tech laser pistol could clearly see the difference. But was no way of telling how without firing it. Was three magazines, already loaded. The shells looked a bit different to, perhaps made into armor piercing they were made out of the same silver metal. But wasn’t silver or lead, or anything Talos would have seen before. It was shiny like a mirror.
Lula just watched him. Hoping he’d like it. It was incredibly special. She only made a handful. If it ever was found it would be extremely illegal. And if it fell into the wrong hands dangerous beyond believe since she enhanced everything on it. But she liked it, not that she’d ever fire it. Well, not likely anyway. But that somebody like him would make a very wonderful use of it.
talos His eyes widened he felt the gun as if it where the leg of a beautiful companion he began to use alot of old moves twirling the weapon on his finger putting it in his holster. “thank you so much” he said to her now she had just paid for his services. Now he was with her to the end. “so where do you wanna go now lula?”
He asked her giving back her data pad.
lula Lula smiled watching him, sort of chuckling to herself lightly. She found the fact that he didn’t question where she got it or why she gave it to him well she found it lovely, and simple the way he just took it happily.
She took the data book, “Home. Sis be worried, I afraid. You stay with us, till the ship gets here. Ma can take a look see at your arm… and then the sheep can’t find you.” She handed it over to him.
talos He grabbed his wounded arm and must have seen the blood on his shirt. He continued to grab his stuff .he had 2 bags one with all his guns, bullets, and knifes and a lot of other toys. On the other bag are his casual cloths amour and one or 2 gloves. And so with that they both get up. Lula still wearing talos jacket tries to leave through the crowd. In a force of habit he holds lula hand. But the way he held it would strike those who new him as strange. He held her hand soft and gently no squeezing to hard but strong enough to keep her hand there.
he met up with joshua and asked him to send for a mule; and so they both waited talos still holding her hand much like he held his sisters hand when they waited to go to school.
lula Lula followed, although before leaving she slipped her shoes on. Tying them up tight, knowing despite how annoying she found them that if she got home and Lola saw her without them she’d have a fit. Not to mention her Ma would kill her too.
She quietly followed along side Talos. She was watching the people as they passed. Making sure no feds would give the two any trouble, since she knew he had tons of illegal gear, including the gun she’d just given him. She hated this time a night. People were too loud, made her head hurt; too many random voices in her head. She didn’t like it. With her other hand that Talos didn’t have she clutched at the side of her ear.
talos Talos noticed she was covering her ear so he rushed outside as fast as he could and he let her on the mule first. the ride there was rough and long but they made it to her house she seemed a bit more calm not as stressed. After talos woke her up the began to walk to the huge house as they walked toward the door talos was getting so tired he could feel the soft bed already. And Lula would be safe. The walk up the steps and in front of the door. Lula then walked ahead of him to open the door and let them both in.
