civilizedman_st Simon knew he had to do this no matter how many knots he had in his stomach. If she wasn't a danger like River was so certain of, then the worse that was going to happen was Mal ask her questions. Oh god this could be bad. He shook his head, glancing down the corridors looking for the captain. He just had to tell him the facts; she knew who he was. Well sort of; last Simon had known she hadn't remembered his surname. But Dina could have easily found out by now. And if she had, had she done anything dangerous like waving the feds to collect the bounty. Oh god, even more than getting upset at Dina he was going to be so angry with Simon for not speaking up sooner. It wasn't that Simon feared him. The doctor really didn't for the most part; Simon would in fact speak up and tell Mal he was wrong if he ever thought Mal was out of line. He had nothing holding him back, except River liked it on Serenity. And deep down so did Simon, it was really more home to him than on Osiris the last year or so. And the crew, and Mal in particular was more family had done more for him and River than his own father was willing to do. And that really is why Simon didn't like the idea of another run in with Malcolm. Plus the man could be frightening at times. Simon would just hope Mal wouldn't get upset, least not very much.
mal It was just great. Kaylee decided to go and invite more on the ship. They needed passage which wasn’t something Mal could really offer right now, what with two convicts runnin’ from the law on his ship. Then there was the whole issue with not making ends meets lately and hardly having enough to feed his crew. Jobs were running few and far these days and with every job they picked up they risked the chance of Simon and River being found. But when she told him they were willing to pay he couldn’t say no. They sure as hell could use the money just need to make sure these new passengers don’t get in the way and aren’t on for long.
Heading down the bridge towards his room Mal notices Simon looking about. Simon had one of those looks on his face that didn’t hold too right with Mal. Of course a lot of his looks looked the same to Mal but usually that look meant one of the bad things. “Lookin’ for something?” Mal asks Simon as he nears.
civilizedman_st Simon spotted Mal and quickly moved over to him. "Yeah, Fact I was looking for you." He made a face, then continued on to his point. "Hopefully it won't be an issue, however." And Simon made a face. The 'you won't like this but it's true' face.
mal Mal could've only figured what Simon was going to say. Of course the doctor was looking for him and of course he had something to tell him. And Mal knew whatever it was he wouldn't like it, didn't really want to hear whatever it was for that matter.
"Don't think I even want to know." Mal sighed as he looked Simon in the face, the very face that was telling Mal everything he needed to know. "This better be good." Mal's face kept a stern look on it as he waited to hear whatever Simon had to say. Probably something to do with his sister or of that sort, what else could it really be.
civilizedman_st “Ummm… Well. Do you know those passengers you let on?” Simon started, not so certain now about this. “I-aa heard somebody in the infirmary. Figured if anyone needed assistance that I should tend to them… and well…” He sighed. “Thing is Dina, Ms. Reed. The girl, young woman… come to figure she knows who I am. We went to Med Academy together. And well… We weren’t really friends. But she knows of me. Recognized me. Was hoping she wouldn’t, but she did. And last I seen her she hadn’t remembered my surname. But… considering everything. Well … just … I imagine she’d know about the bounty on me and River. She don’t know she’s here. River that is.” He was his usual rambling self. He was good with words, but not usually with some people. Mal and Kaylee mostly, they just turned him into all sorts of uncertain about himself.
“She’s a good, nice girl. I don’t think she’d be here to do anything to us. Maybe she doesn’t even realize. Plus… Hey. She’s this wonderful psychiatrist. Could really help River… you know if she isn’t here for other reasons. And I’d imagine, she’d want to help. She’s just that sort. But… Figured. You needed to know. Talk to her. Make sure things are alright, her not looking for the bounty. And hey… Not my fault she’s here. Ahh… not that it’s your fault. Didn’t mean that. Just she happened to board. And hey… it’s a good thing. Cause like I said, she’s wonderful in the her field. Plus, don’t know how good of a pilot she is. But I imagine Wash would appreciate some extra time with Zoë… and stuff.” Yes he said and Stuff. Simon was in fine form. He was trying to point out all the right reasons not to toss Dina out an air lock, or to not shoot her. He didn’t want Mal to go and do anything too frightening. Just talk to Dina. But he knew sometimes Mal couldn’t just talk to people, and particularly reasonable sorts of people. Which in Simon’s head really just meant people from near the Core; Simon’s sort of people.
