Who: Monica, Dori, Emerald Where: Lorrayna Phoenix- Lounge When: May 9th, morning around 7AM Why: Because the air needs cleared, and Emerald has orders! Rating?: PG12 Status: Complete
__walker__ Monica was sitting on the floor next to Emerald's leather lounge chair, her cards sprawled at her feet. She was relaxing, she'd thought about visiting Ace but figured it was something she would rather avoid; or at least until she got more alcohol. She had that bottle of vodka that she had found hidden in her berth. But she was only drinking it when the pain, caused by her fingers, got unbearable; since she had run out of painkillers and she had avoided Dori. Monica avoided her more than usual; since Monica was pissy with the idea that Dori told the captain things. Monica also assumed that she probably then told Ace what she also said; since the two appeared squeamish at the sight of her yesterday. It didn't matter to the red head that it wasn't true.
doctor_dori Dori was in a fairly good mood. Today had been, so far, injury free. And considering just how injury packed yesterday had been, that was a right blessing.
Though that faded just a bit when she walked into the lounge and saw Monica. They'd yet to run into each other since the whole thing with Ace, and really, Dori wasn't exactly looking forward to what she was sure was going to happen. For a moment, she thought about walking back out and heading to the infirmary. But instead she stepped further into the lounge, taking the seat furthest from Monica. "wai Walker," she said in a sort of unsure way. She knew Monica thought she'd run her mouth to the captain, so she was trying to mentally prepare herself for whatever was about to happen. It was sort of comically. Here she was, pretty sure she was defiantly getting yelled at, thinking it was likely she'd get beaten on too, and she was almost as calm as could be, just waiting.
__walker__ Monica heard somebody enter the room, but she didn't bother looking up right at first. She was concerned with her cards; they oddly had her full attention. She was playing solitaire and currently she was searching for the Jack of hearts. Finally she found it under the third stack of cards. Monica's eyes drifted upward across the room. She had heard Dori, but figured it wasn't worth an answer.
Her eyes settled on the doctor, quickly she found herself glaring as she thought about the reasons she was avoiding the lady. "How's Ace?" She finally managed asking. She didn't sound enthused, but really she was concerned. It was just some broken rips, or rip. Monica wasn't sure, she didn't bothering asking yesterday. But she knew what the wrappings around his chest meant. So she didn't need to ask. But that didn't mean she didn't care. She'd been happy with the idea that everyone else figured she never cared, but she did. And not just about Ace, although presently she didn't care at all for Dori.
doctor_dori Dori just sort of nodded to herself when Monica didn't answer her. When the red head's eyes did drift up, she kept her gaze steady. The doctor wasn't exactly ballsy, but she'd seen and lived through to much to be too scared of Monica. Being nervous, however, was totally allowed.
At the glare she frowned a bit. While she knew it to be true, she also found it just slightly hurtful that Monica thought she'd really ran off to tell the Captain everything. She didn't take the lack on enthusiasm to mean Monica didn't care about Ace. Instead she took it to be a result of her being pissed at Dori. "Doin' just fine," she answered finally with another small nod.
After another moment of just sitting there, staring at Monica, she looked away. Then looked back as she tried to figure out how to go about this. She knew she hadn't said anything (okay, hardly nothing. Surly nothing that would actually piss Monica off. Tiny, small, off hand, non-descriptive comments, really.) to the Capin', but she doubted just saying that would make her believe. Which was, really, the important thing here. Clearing the air. She had enough problems gettin' Monica to take medical assistance, she didn't need the woman hating her on top of it. Then she'd likely bleed to death 'fore Dori could do anything.
So in a fashion that made her think she'd been on the ship with Akira too long, she asked, "why?" And despite realizing afterwards that there should be more to the question then that, because really that was too vague, she left it be.
__walker__ Monica just blankly stared at the Doctor for a moment, before rising a brow curiously. "Why ... What?" She asked in a short snippy voice. Why had she asked if Ace was alright? "Ace busted himself up; he is the pilot of this ship. It is my affair to know what every single one of you are doing to keep things running smoothly and the captain notified." That was her bull shit answer, although it wasn't anything but the truth. But Monica wasn't even sure if that was what Dori was asking her. Honestly she didn't really care. "However" She began, her glare piercing more. "I don't really see how any of that concerns you!" That's all she said, despite the fact she wanted to say more. She wanted to get up and deck Dori. But she was securely on the floor.
doctor_dori Dori looked confused for a moment. Of all the things she figured the redhead would assume she was asking, it surly wasn't that. She flinched slightly when Monica continued and glared more.
After a second she spoke up. "Weren't askin' that." She looked at the other women warily, treating her a bit like a caged animal. A very angry, caged animal. "More wonderin' why you'd think I'd run and tell the Capin' things like that." She was going for smooth tones, trying to keep her voice completely even. "Haven't never done it 'fore," but the hurt may have shown through just a bit. Couldn't be helped. She'd never betray the crews trust, they were her family after all, and it stung that Monica believed she had.
__walker__ "Capt'n was sayin' things, things I only told you. Makes it obvious where she heard it... don't ya think?" Monica wasn't going to believe Dori, unless shown that it wasn't the Doctor for certain. And wasn't like that was easy, couldn't even be done. "So I don't care about ya bull shit, I didn't do it... I ain't done it 'fore... cause you apparently did tell her things. How else woulda she have known? I'm just wonderin' if she was the only one ya said anythin' to." She was meaning Ace of course. Monica over looked the fact Emerald always knew things for no apparent reason at all. Monica usually figured she had ways, but that she couldn't just know a thing without somebody else indicating it first. "I don't rightly appreciate tattle-telling..."
doctor_dori "No, no I rightly don't think tha'. Seein' as I didn't see Capin' all mornin'." Dori was recognizing the impossible position she was in. She doubted even if Emerald herself told Monica what had happened she'd believe her. Normally the doc was great at keeping her cool and staying collected, but this situation was hurting her heart and her head in ways that made even her loose her calm some. "No, ya know. Rightly reckon I went off an' told everyone. Go right on an' ask 'em all Walker." A little calmer, "fixed you up. Fixed Ace up. Then managed to 'ave time ta run 'round an' tell the whole crew all sorts o' thin's." Not really, since she'd nearly taken a nap on the exam table once she'd made it back to the infirmary. "Didn't say anythin' to anyone, an' I don't rightly appreciate ya thinkin' I did."
drunkincapngal Right as Monica opened her mouth to speak, not looking to happy about what she was going to say, Emerald came skipping into the room. She smiled at both, sensing the incredible tension in the room. "Howdy gals." She nodded at each. "Don't mean to break up this love-fest, but I need to talk to both of ya. Soo if you could put off this misunderstandin' long enough I'd appreciate it." Emerald hadn't heard a word spoken, but she of course knew what was going on. "Ohhh and for the record, Dori is right you are wrong Monica. Dori said nothin' to me about anythin' I went to her this mornin' after you n' me chattin' in the dinnin' hall. So I'd appreciate you stop scoldin' my doctor with your eyes, it's very rude to do. Especially to someone that fixed up your hand that you stupidly broke cause of a guy... again... I figured that out all on my little own." She waited for Monica to say something, in which only was a ... "Fine." ... that came out of her mouth, and then Emerald moved on.
She turned to Dori then, "I received a Wave from a man... Sentinus... he is one of three that are injured. I'm uncertain as to what their injuries include. But two of them seemed to be in n' outa consciousness. They are survivors of a raid on a cargo vessel. He has asked for help." She chuckled. "Not only asked but went about seekin' me out, n' went about stating of the unwritten code of maritime impressments." Emerald didn't think Dori knew of the pirate codes or laws, since they were practically dead, used by few. "Basically it means, if I help them out he has offered his services to me and my crew. So you see I need you to be on the ready for anything when we arrive, which should be in 10 hours or so."
__walker__ Monica listened; she didn't believe Emerald despite the woman putting Monica in her place. Emerald was just saying that, Monica seriously couldn't understand Emerald just knowin' things. Monica was always in a shitty mood, and was no way Monica had hinted at anything. So the only practical reason was Dori said something. But Monica supposed she'd let it go, for now at leased. Didn't change her thinkin' about leaving, although Monica was starting to think that was a stupid idea. Least here she'd been put up with, most people, most captains would had had more of a fit with her actions by now. Emerald was different; but didn't hurt any less with Guinivere being around. Monica waited until Emerald needed to speak to her, and so she went back to her cards.
doctor_dori Dori straightened up when the Capin' entered, looking a touch embarrassed when she said love-fest (wasn't often she had a tiff, after all). Despite Emerald telling Monica what had happened, she didn't exactly feel better. Nor did she think Monica did. She eyed the red head for a moment, then turned her full attention back to the Capin'.
The doctor nodded as she listened, taking in everything said. Emerald was right, Dori knew just this side of nothing about pirate codes or laws. "Alright Capin'. Won't take me much time to get everythin' ready to go." As she spoke, she was already working out a quick schedule for the next 9 hours. She knew she needed to get at least a nap in there, and pack up all her supplies to take with, probably eat as well. Wouldn't do anybody any good if the doc was useless, after all.
drunkincapngal Emerald nodded satisfactorily. "Very good." She knew it wasn't a problem for Dori to be ready. She was very good with her duties, and a very good doctor. She smiled, and then turned to Monica; having no concern about speaking to her in front of the doctor. Sometimes Emm rather speak to the security officer in private about business and protocols but didn't see the reason at the moment for moving the conversation.
"I have no question in my head that this raid Sentinus was subject to has ta do with the Job we were... are contracted to handle. I haven't the name of the cargo ship he was on, but I'm guessing it is the same one; especially since the coordinates he gave me are dangerously close to the original ones." She nodded as she spoke. "My only concern is, was this raid planned by somebody to take the artifact or was it random and is the object still a board. Soo... when we arrive, and if it ends up being the same ship. While Dori," She indicated to the Doc with her hands. Emerald did that sometimes, talked with her fingers and hands. "And I find the survivors. You and Oddball search the ship to see the damage and if the artifact was stolen too."
She turned back a moment to Dori. "I would also like you finding Akira and telling him I'd like him to come with you and me to assist in transporting the men to our infirmary. I'm sure we'll need the help carrying them. Monica Oddball and I will insure the ship is secure; no lingering raiders are aboard before you and Akira come over." She turned looking at Monica. "Gwen will stay with the ship, keep an eye on the radar and wave channels. And locked on the guns incase the raiders or somebody worse comes along. I'd really like Ace sitting with her at controls. I'm certain he can read things a mite better than her, especially the radars. But..." She looked back over at Dori. "He isn't well enough to do that is he? I mean still on pain killers and out of it still?" She was asking really not sure if he was. She was certain he woulda tried to break out of bed and climb onto the bridge by now. But she hadn't seen him up; it was good he was getting bed rest. Emm just usual had trouble keeping him away.
doctor_dori Not that it mattered all of that much, since Dori was mostly lost in her thoughts. Though she did look up and over at the two when she heard her name. Seeing that neither were actually speaking to her though, she went back to her plan (she'd moved on to figuring out exactly what she did and didn't need to bring).
When Emerald turned back to her, she listened and nodded. "Alright Capin', I'll stop in an' let 'em know he's ta be helpin' us." She gave a brief smile at hearing they'd be making sure the ship was raider free. The doc shook her head a little. "S'pose he could sit with her jus' fine for a while, be a bit o' help with the radars anyways." She finally said after a moment of thought.
__walker__ Monica nodded with a question; "Captain, if he sent out a Wave then shouldn't you know if it's the same ship?" She asked with the tilt of her head as she stood to her feet. She stuck her cards in her pocket once they were gathered off the floor. Other than that tiny question, she understood completely. She shifty in to security mode and forgot for the moment her annoyance with Dori. Monica rather security mode, she wasn't so scatter brained and troubled with the past.
drunkincapngal "Alright. I'll go down and see him later on and tell him he'll be needed to sit with Gwenny." She nodded then glanced at Monica. Rather happy to see her head in the right place. She smirked. "Well, usually yeah. But he has a smaller ship, about the size of a Wren Class I'm guessing... which he sent the Wave off of. He didn't lock the message, or send it direct or anythin' so I requested him to do disclose anymore details so that outside ears would pick up. If another raid ship found them they'd be dead. And if it has to do with what I think it does. I don't want random folks showin' up too." She explained and then waited to see if ether lady had anymore questions.
doctor_dori She knew Monica was still mad with her, but she admired how the women pushed things like that away and took her job completely serious. Dori nodded at Emerald. Since she had no more actual questions, she asked, "be needin' anythin' else from me Capin'?" Didn't want to be rude and just head off, but she did have to talk to Akira and get her things ready.
drunkincapngal Emerald nodded, "Nope, not at the moment." She leaned over, since she was standing closer to Dori than the red head and whispered. "Maybe make sure Walker has pain killers, don't think she's had any ta day." With that Emerald smiled. "Alrighty, I have to go see Ace. If ether of ya gals need me, you know where ta look." And with that Emerald exited the room, leaving Dori and Monica alone again.
doctor_dori Dori looked mildly surprised for just a moment, then the look was gone and she nodded. "Will do Cap'in," she replied back in the same whispered tones. Once Emerald had left, she turned toward Monica. "S'pose we'll be finishin' this talk later?"
__walker__ Monica looked over at the Doc. Pain shooting up her fingers. She didn’t make any sort of face; she was good at ignoring the pain. “Ya, we done.” Was all she said, Monica wasn’t any happier than she had been a few moments before Dori walked in. But she had something else to occupy her time with. So she was fine, least for the moment.
doctor_dori Dori sighed just a little. Not entirely sure why she even tried. She shook her head a little, turning to leave the room. Then paused, turning back around. "Don't rightly reckon you'll be thrilled, but I'll be findin' ya 'fore we leave. Ya haven't come ta get any pain fighters, so I'll be bringin' 'em to you 'stead."
With that the doctor continued on her way out the room. Ready to get to work.
