Who: Dori, Monica. Where: Lorrayna Phoenix- Infirmary When: May 8th, EARLY morning around 4-5AM Why: Dori don't much sleep, and the infirmary is like her home. Rating?: PG13 Status: Complete
doctor_dori Dori woke, breath hitched in her throat and sweat pouring down her face and back. Rubbing her hand over her face, she untangled herself and her blankets and crawled out of bed. Her legs shook, but she ignored them. All she wanted that very moment was to get out of her bunk. Standing in the middle of her room, she pulled off her pjs. Pants and a long sleeve shirt taking their place.
She pulled her long hair back into a messy ponytail, then quickly exited the room. Same as every morning she headed straight to the kitchen to start a fresh pot of coffee. Between her nightmares and Ace flying the ship alone, fresh caffeine was a must. With an almost longing look, she took a seat on one of the bar stools, willing to wait. After a few moments she stood back up, gathering her cup and keeping her hands busy.
Once there was enough coffee to fill her cup, she did just that and left. Heading straight to the infirmary. Life for Dori was fairly routine, 'less o' course the crew had a job and got themselves into a mess o' trouble. Wearing a small grin, she pushed through the door with her back, so she didn't spill her coffee. Turning around, she nearly did so anyways. Sloshing coffee over the cup and onto the floor. For a second she thought she'd lost it, but no, that was defiantly Monica sleepin' in the infirmary.
Sitting her cup down, she moved over to Monica. Though far enough the red head couldn't accidentally hit her or anything, and quietly called, "Monica? Monica, wake-up."
__walker__ Monica stirred in the chair; she'd gotten herself in an odd position and her hand got mangled under her leg somehow. She wasn't sure where she was, not at first. She glanced around the room and then the pain of her leg on her hand hit her and she wanted to scream and in that moment she remembered where she was and why. She grumbles to herself, while sitting up. Stretching out her legs and back, not saying anything just yet as to why she was sleeping the chair. Though her hand was covered in the bruising and swelling, if Dori could see it from her spot in the room.
doctor_dori Dori raised one brow, watching Monica like a curious hawk. "Mornin' Ms. Walker," she greeted politely. The fact that she'd come into the infirmary voluntarily worried Dori a bit. "What can I be helpin' you with?" she asked, since she didn't notice anything out of place yet. Of course, if Monica wanted to be stubborn she'd circle and poke at her until she found the problem.
__walker__ Monica nodded just slight. "Wha time is it?" She'd asked with a yawn. As to Dori's question, Monica lazily held her handout holding it up in front of herself. It limply hanging at the wrist, she eyed it then looked back at the doc. She didn't say nothing else, just had these sort of pout-y face. She glanced around the infirmary, god how she hadn't this room. She placed her hand down again on her lap gently.
doctor_dori "'For five," Dori answered, distractedly. "Wou Duh Tian Ah," she muttered, stepping closer to take a better look. Not much caring if it was invasive, she picked up Monica's wrist and gave her hand a good once over. She touched one of the more mangled and bruised fingers then, to determine how bad it was.
__walker__ Monica sort of slid back in the chair a bit, well as much as she could when Dori came looking at her hand. Though she didn't say anything about it, it was her job and why Monica's neck was all stiff now. Though when she went touching the figures, particularly the pointer and the middle finger Monica practically yelped in pain.
doctor_dori Dori let go of Monica's hand gently, shaking her head more. "Gorram it all Monica," she tisked. Stepping back to her overly organized supplies, she found what she needed to fix up her hand, and something to kill the pain.
"You shoulda come to see me ma shong. You got at least two fingers broken, and you ain't gonna like it none when I set them." Moving back toward the patient, she set up her things and turned back toward her. "You want somethin' to numb you, 'for I start?"
__walker__ Monica made a face. "Yea... Sooner? Lucky I came at all." She chuckled, still half asleep despite the pain. Monica watched Dori fussing with her things, no Monica knew that she wasn't going to like it one bit but her gorram damn stubborn self wasn't going to have herself all numb up on something either. She shook her head, "Na ..." Was all she answered, was part her trying to proof she wasn't weak like. Something usually expected outa a man, but Monica always was acting off of it. Sometimes realizing, sometimes not. The other part of it was so to have the pain to focus on, oddly enough it helped her head. In a sort of way. The same reason she was always drinking, keeps her head busy with something else. It was how she operated. Though she could use something to bite down on, perhaps. Though she didn't ask for nothing.
doctor_dori Dori shook her head, not at all surprised by the answer. Not pleased, but not surprised either. Monica was a worse patient then most of the males on board could ever be.
Stepping forward she picked up the damaged hand again, giving it another look over. She really hated this part, especially when a person was too mule-headed to numb themselves up. Not setting down Monica's hand, she half turned toward her things. Grabbing a thick leather-like strip and handing it to her. Wasn't anything worse then watching a person bite their own tongue off.. This was one thing she wouldn't argue about. "I'm gonna need you to bite down on that there, 'for I'll touch these here fingers."
__walker__ Monica bit down on the strap, and prepared herself for what Dori was about to do. It wasn't the first time she'd broke a finger or two. Though in all honestly, it was the stupidest way yet. Not that she wasn't prone to hitting things in a fit of rage, but wasn't usually the ship walls. Lorrayna's haul was made out of some sort of unique metal, which was the hardest thing Monica had ever seen.
doctor_dori Dori offered a little grin, a thanks and slight reassurance. She doubted the tactics one usually used to distract someone from this particular pain would work with Monica, so she wasn't much going to bother with them.
Looking into her blue eyes, Dori gave a nod to indicate she was ready. "It's a wonder, you breakin' things like this," she mused. Then snapped the first finger back inta place. "Rightly think I kept snappin' 'em, I wouldn't much be usin' 'em anymore." She mused on, snapping the second finger inta place as well.
__walker__ Monica was listening, and then the first wave of pain surged from her hand into her arm. And for the most part she just kept looking at Dori, grunting and biting hard as she could. When the Doc snapped the second one back in place she was a little more fidgety, her face reading more into the pain.
doctor_dori "Rightly sorry about that," Dori told her. Though she didn't stop moving, just went straight to setting the fingers up so they could heal all nice and proper. "Throbbin'll die down in no time," she nodded. "I'd suggest you get yerself a nice drink before then, though."
__walker__ Monica removed the strap with her other hand. "No worries, needed done." Monica told Dori in a matter or a fact type tone. "Not likely, unless Capt'n left the cabinet open in the kitchen." She commented about the drink, sort of indicating the fact that she had drank gone everything she had. She said it in a shitty annoyed tome to. "So pain killers will be delightfully welcomed." She knew, or at leased thought Dori might be wondering how she broke her hand this bad, especially being that wasn't any fight to break it in. Least wasn't any sort of announced fight. And if'n she asked Monica was sure if she'd answer. Most likely not, she wasn't talkative on the hows usually. But didn't stop Monica from wondering if she'd say something.
doctor_dori "Not likely," Dori smiled a little. Then moved her stuff back to the counter and grabbed the pain killers. To be honest, Dori hadn't much thought about it yet. Wasn't like she was much of a talker herself. So instead she handed over the medication, and offered a little.. friendly advice, tinged with slight curiosity. "Might I suggest, what ever it was you did, you don't be doin' again. And you let me know if you need any more of those."
__walker__ Monica took the meds, "No worry on that, I let ya know if I be needin' any." She sat quietly for a moment contemplatively thinking, on what Dori said and searching her wandering brain for the exact reason why she had done it. She sort of spaced for a moment, in fact. Getting lost, though the pain was sort of leading her along that empty sort of glare she was giving the wall. "Ain't likely be doing that again... not likely... only in Bai Lih Mohn... fuck it all to hell shut up dumbass... Damn boy get outa my head." She was mostly mumbling to herself, fact was Monica wasn't even certain on how loud she was. Or if even she was speaking, or was it just thoughts. That happened to her sometimes; she lost herself in a moment which caused her head to get confused a bit. Was no doubt she had her self a bit of a leaky brain pan.
doctor_dori Dori nodded, then continued on in her cleanin' up. Though she moved quietly, so she caught some of Monica's mumblin'. Wouldn't have caught her interest any, but then she had to mention a boy, and well even Dori couldn't help being curious. Wasn't like that was something a person expected Monica to be mutterin' one about.
Puttin' down her things, she could help but turn toward the red head with a curious look. "If you don't mind me askin', just what boy is it in yer head?"
__walker__ Monica's eyes drifted onto Dori, she wasn't glaring at her, it was more of a contemplative considering glance. Monica stood going to the sink; she swallowed some water and then two of those pills she was given for the pain. Monica stuck the rest in her pocket.
She took a moment longer, sighing as she did. Was actually two boys in her head. Neither had she particularly wanted to talk about. She chuckled, "Since ya bein' all curious n' the like n' a sort of polite manner... Mr. Mackler ... Ace." She told Dori, then shaking her head with another one of those tired sort of sighs. She wasn't exactly sure why she told the Doc.
doctor_dori Which Dori quite appreciated. Didn't much like being glared at, 'specially right after she'd woken up and set two fingers.
"Polite bein' my specialty," she said with a bit of a smile. Though it quickly turned into a look that was a cross between amused and curious. "Ace? Ace, on this here boat, Ace?" She pondered that a moment, then nodded a touch. "S'pposin' that make sense. Opposites attractin' and such." Back to puttin' away her supplies, she added, "no need to worry none either, I wouldn't breath a word of it to no one."
__walker__ "That work well for ya?" She inquired, half caring about the answer. Monica did just about everything but be polite to get something done, she would nice if need be but she had found a little force and intimidation get you a long way. Most folk are chicken shit rather than polite and upstanding, least in her experience.
Monica just nodded; she appreciated Dori not saying anything. Because that would make her mighty pissy if she would blab about it. Not that Monica think Dori would, she was the most likely not to say, except maybe Neve, and that may only be cause ... well just cause, he was a companion. Monica couldn't actually see him talking about it to somebody. Monica shrugged; her head was filling with stupid non-sense.
doctor_dori "All the time? No. But usually it does me just fine." It was a little funny, since it was usually Monica being polite didn't work on. Damn woman had something serious against going to the infirmary.
Dori gave a little grin, "can't be blamin' ya none on that. 'Cause he sure is a pretty fellow too." Not that she was in the least bit interested, but he was mighty pretty, and there wasn't no shame in noticing.
__walker__ Monica smirked, "That he is… Real spiffy pilot too." Then Monica shook her head. "Ship board anythings, complicates things." Monica gave, not exactly a whine but it was near as close to one as it could be. Monica glanced towards the door, she should just leave Dori to here fixings. But the talking was sort of nice too. She did so little of it, with anyone, especially a gal. So she stayed, for the moment to see where this pointless conversation would lead. Then she could leave, she sighed looking tired.
doctor_dori "Hasn't crashed us, so I'd have to agree." Dori shook her head back, sad look on her face. "May be true, but it isn't always so bad things gettin' complicated a little." Least they hadn't been so bad in her experience.. not that she much wanted to dwell on that none. And truth be told, Dori was enjoying the little bit of gab herself. Even if she kept expecting Monica to up and leave.
__walker__ Monica watched Dori for a moment. Then she shrugged a bit as a sort of response, Monica knew how'd she could be and was likely enough things could possibly get a tad bit more than a little complicated. She wasn't easy; he'd pointed that out the night before. This was all stupid she just needed to get it out of her head.
"Yea, I just think I need me some of that Planet-side time ... been on this boat a bit too long." She was thinking about the leaving again, and so she just buried her face in her uninjured hand. "How do ya think Emm would operate without me? She could do it, don't cha think?" She asked, it sounding kind of muffled.
doctor_dori Dori nodded at that. Fact being just about all of them were looking a little starved for time Planet-side. Which seemed strange, since not a one of them liked to stay Planet-side.
That got her a shocked sort of look, but Dori shook her head and answered honestly. "Of course she could," she agreed. "Don't think she'd much like having to though, what with you bein' family and all." She would have mentioned the rest of the crew would miss if she left, too. But the doc wasn't one for guilting people into something they didn't want. Unless it was medical.
__walker__ At that she chuckled, "Family... Hahhaa ..." She looked up removing her hand, "Mostly was thinking she'd get a mite bit huffy about the training of somebody else."
Monica was quite for a long moment. She made a face, "I'm sorry, I don't even know why I'm still sittin' here. I ought to get out of your way." She pulled herself to her feet. "Ought to get out of the way." She repeated heading towards the door. "I'll see you around." Monica told Dori with a small nod.
doctor_dori Dori shook her head, but didn't say nothin' else. If Monica didn't want to believe the bit on family, then wasn't much she could do.
She smiled, "might want to find out if you're actually in anyone's way dong ma?" And she waved a little, before turning to go back to her things. Shaking her head at her luck of being stumbled upon by this particular crew.
