Welcome to the Brightstar Reserve, nestled in the Beartooth Mountains of Montana. It's employees are responsible for a large and diverse group of beasts, beings, and plant life. Located across Hercinia Lake from the small, unincorporated municipality of Snowcap, the Reserve is far from the unrest in cities like New York, Salem, Chicago, and Monterey, just as everyone likes it.

However, just like the latest trends, politics and discord never seem to stay confined to the cities for long. Beings and those with cross-species lineage are pushing back against generations of regulations and even deeper entrenched suspicions. Leaving one to ask, what does it mean to be magical?

Hey everyone!

Can I just say that I am in awe of everyone’s having come to the sandbox I helped put together (with lots of help) and the sand palaces they have put together? Like, I can’t even begin to say how much I appreciate all of it as plot definitely isn’t my strong suit. This has been the easiest game I have ever run, by far. And we have a whole lot of exciting things coming, I promise.

I was talking to some people last night and in my excitement for upcoming plot, I didn’t take into account anything that might be triggering, especially without a fair amount of warning. I, as both a mod and a player, need to strike that fine balance of not wanting to spoil anything and taking into account how in-game actions might impact a person in real-life. RP is meant to be an escape and I don’t want that to take that away from anyone.

We haven’t billed this game as a dark one and I have no intention of turning it into one. However, there will be likely incidents of violence upcoming, but it’s my job as mod to know when to scale back. I would like to take a poll of all the players (comments are screened) as to where you’re comfortable treading and what subject matter is a hard line.

I’m borrowing Ginger’s brilliant traffic light system. If, in the comments you could let me know what’s green/yellow/red light for you, that would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know f you may need lead time for major upcoming plot events if something might be triggering.

Currently, as the game stands now we would not go above a Yellow, with the following definitions:
  • GREEN LIGHT: canon-typical violence against poachers/other bad actors, canon-typical violence to own PCs, injuries to creatures.
  • YELLOW LIGHT: Deadly violence against PCs or NPCs (including Unforgivables) even if it doesn't result in death; creature death.
  • RED LIGHT: Killing NPCs; sexual assault; violence above PG-13/R rating.

It’s entirely possible I didn’t explain this perfectly clear (I’m sort of doing this up on the fly) and just word vomiting at this point. I will be around later this afternoon/this evening to answer any questions. My goal is to make this game fun and enjoyable for everyone
