Once again she rolled her eyes at him. She wasn't on his case about anything. Not yet. And they both knew it even if she wasn't going to call him on it. Since she knew why he was being so troublesome. Plus she had quite a bit of experience dealing with him. Sometimes it just wasn't worth it.
"Not particularly," she agreed and then hesitated for a moment, not looking at him when she added, "Sight better than now, though. That's all." Cate worried about him being on his own so much, especially since he seemed bound and determined for it to continue on like that.
"It's not like he walked in and just started spouting it all off or anything. We had a discussion, and it came up." Mostly cause she was a bit of a busybody, and AJ seemed like he needed someone to talk to. "Man needs a friend, that's all. He's nice. Stop being so judgy, huh?" That time she did use a nearby piece of paper to swat him lightly on the arm.
Then she grimaced when he bent down to kiss Kayla because she knew what was coming. "She liked him. She was fussing. Wanted to play with his hair. You know how she is about hair." As if defending her mother, Kayla took that opportunity to grab at Colin's. Cate just made a "see what I mean" gesture.
