Cate clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth and shook her head at him. "I still don't think it's a good nickname. Something more uplifting might be better for morale." She wasn't sure if she could think of a job that needed more of a morale booster. "Anyway. That's how he heard about us. And tell me the next time they bring one in, why don't ya? I'm sure Miss Kayla would love to see one, huh, baby girl?" she said, turning her focus back to her daughter for a moment.
Especially since Colin was being grumpy about AJ's Toyota. If she'd seen that expression once, she'd seen it a hundred times. She had it memorized by this point so there was no need for a refresher. "He did," she answered. "From LA. I said he was new in town. It probably just took a bit of a beating. You'll have it all fixed up in no time. Heck, the thing might just need a little R and R."
Taking another bite out of her donut, she shrugged. "He was a bit of a nervous type from the get to. And no. He didn't." Then she frowned cause Colin wasn't gonna like the next revelation. "He doesn't know anyone in town. I was just giving him suggestions of things he might be able to do to make some friends. Thing like that." She waited until her brother had taken a nice big bite. "And I invited him to Kayla's birthday party. Don't go fussing at me about it, either." Then she held the baby up to distract him, hoping that he didn't choke.
