Friends Till the End
Who: Lilly and Paige
Where: Lilly's Apartment
When: Tuesday Night
Lilly was sitting on her bed, watching television while having a beer. It had been a week since anyone had been able to get in touch with Paige, and she was starting to get worried. Had the girl gone off the deep end or something? Where the fuck was she? Lilly looked at the wall of her little studio apartment, looking at the few pictures of Paige and her that she had hung up. She still hadn't given Ginny an answer about whether she would stay in the band or not. She wanted to talk to Paige first and just ask her what in the hell was she thinking? If she could come up with something good, then maybe she'd forgive and they could start their own thing. She prayed that she would come up with something good.
As if in answer to some unspoken prayer, there was a sudden knock at her door. One that sounded urgent, impatient.
Lilly got up and looked through the peephole. After seeing who it was, she yanked the door open. "Where the fuck have you been?" she asked.
Paige stood there, all Cheshire grin, hands at her hips. She wore leather pants laced up the sides and so tight they looked to be a second skin, and a matching halter top. "Hey, babe... C'n I come in?"
She grabbed her by the arm and practically pulled her in as she said, "Get your ass in here!" Once she had her inside, she kicked the door closed and asked, "Where have you been? I've been trying to get in touch with you for a week!"
"Oh... it's been a long, interesting week, Lil." Something about her voice was off. She was always cocky, arrogant... but now? She sounded on the verge of being downright self-absorbed. Odd for someone who'd just been humiliated in public... "Didn't mean to... worry you, or anything." The way she said the word 'worry', you could almost hear the quotations around it.
Lilly looked at Paige for a moment. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" she asked. "You're acting really strange."
"Want to hear about my wonderful, glamorous week, dear?" She asked, as if she hadn't even heard the question her friend had worriedly spouted out at her.
"Uh...sure, Paige." Something was really, really up, but Lilly couldn't quite put her finger on it. "Tell me about your glamorous week."
"It started with that bitch Ginnifer choosing to humiliate me onstage, just to look good in front of her junkie girlfriend. And yes... that was WONDERFUL, thanks for asking." She wasn't even giving the other girl a chance to talk here. "The night after, I decided to go looking for Wilson or Delany. Want to know how THAT night ended?"
"Go after them?" What the Christ was she talking about? "What did you do, Paige?"
"I wanted to have words with them. Mayeb give Wilson a punch in the head to repay the one she hit ME with. I ended up IN A FUCKING DUMPSTER, Lilly." She looked more mortified than scared or upset. "ME. Delany bit me, almost KILLED me, and left me in a god-damned DUMPSTER."
"Delany bit you?" Lilly looked suitably horrified by that. "Are you OK? Why the fuck did she do something like that?" Oh, Delany was going to get an ass kicking of epic proportions now.
"Oh, she bit me alright. Tried to kill me, really. Dumbass just let go of me a liiiiiittle too soon." She grinned. "Luckily... someone came along and found me."
"Give that person a fucking medal," Lilly said. "Who was it?"
"Oh, I don't know his name..." she grinned, crossing her arms. "What was more important was what he DID. He told me a war was coming... and that I could be very, very valuable in it. Because now?" She laughed coldly. "I'm going to kick the living SHIT out of Delany... and make her rue the day she fucked with me."
Lilly felt her blood run cold at that laugh. Paige was always...a little off kilter, but she had never sounded like that. "War?" she asked. "What are you talking about, war?"
"I'm talking being powerful, Lilly. I don't need Ginny anymore. I don't need ANYONE. Well... right now... I need you." She sounded almost sincere for a moment, before her face suddenly shifted into the ghastly visage of a vampire. "... for FOOD."
Lilly screamed and took a few steps back. In the back of her mind, she remembered something she had. Some crazy Christian who didn't seem to understand that she was Jewish and going to stay that way had given her some wooden cross. She had tossed it aside and completely forgotten about it. She reached into the open drawer of her nightstand/end table and snatched it out of there, swinging it around and basically smacking Paige in the face with it while screaming, "Back from me, demon!" in Hebrew. Hey, some of us tend to fall back on comforting things when we're in trouble.
"ACK! GODDAMN IT!" Paige shrieked as she stumbled backward, clutching her face. Sonuvabitch! That shit really worked! "Fuck! That hurt!"
"You're goddamn right it worked," Lilly hissed at her. "Now get out of my home before I shove it up your ass." She narrowed her eyes at her.
"Well... looks like some things CAN scare Lilly Maymin after all..." Paige said, backing out with a grin. "I'm going to get each one of you, you know... you, Ginny, Irene... along with Delany and everyone she holds dear."
Lilly just kept the cross held directly in front of her. "I said get out, demon," she said to her in a steady voice.
"Oh, Lilly... how you hurt me. And I thought..." Paige put on a hurtful, whiny tone. "We were frieeeends..." and then she laughed again, before bolting out the door... to go find out more about what she was, and what exactly could hurt her.
