The Morning After Who: Chloe Van Warren, Kevin Van Warren, and Lady Godiva (aka Irene Turner) When: Monday morning Where: Van Warren household
Dressed in nothing more than neon yellow underpants and one of Kevin's more larger shirts, Irene Turner had been given permission to raid the fridge while Kevin got dressed. Looking for some fruit and yogurt, the bassist for Coma White rummaged through the fridge, humming.
"WHAT... THE.... HELL???" Were the words that squeaked almost cutely from the lips of Chloe Van Warren as she stood, gape-jawed, in the doorway of the kitchen, dressed in a fancy Chanel skirt and Versace blouse, small bag of groceries in her arms. "You! You're... I mean.... what the hell are you doing in my house? AND IN YOUR UNDERWEAR???"
Irene had found an apple and had already crunched into it when the words were shouted and she froze, wincing. While the girl was perfectly in her right to react the way she was, Irene certainly didn't appreciate being yelled at first thing in the morning. Straightening, her platinum blond and black tipped hair was free of its millions of braids to hang around her shoulders. Finishing the bie of apple Irene swallowed the apple bite and replied, "One, I was invited, and two, yes I am in my knickers. Three, I was informed that no one else was around and I didn't think your house would mind my yellow undies."
Kevin ambled in then, still a little sleepy-eyed. "Hey, What's all the yelling abuot, Ir..." then he saw Chloe. "Aw.... shit."
"KEVIN!" Chloe squealed again. "This is... this is.... she's in the same band as that foul little skank that keeps insulting us!"
The witch casually resumed munching on the apple she'd found, moving over to hand the other one in her hand to Kevin. Chloe's outburst about Paige didn't even phase her and she asked him, "Might I inquire where you keep your glasses, love? I thought orange juice would be lovely."
Balls. Kevin hadn't expected Chloe to be home when he sent Irene out to the kitchen. "Chloe, calm down." He looked to Irene and then grabbed a glass from the cabinet, handing it to her before continuing.
"Look. Neither of us knew who the other was, ok? We met, we got along."
"And you had a one-night humpfest and now you're dating the enemy?" She asked, not even sounding angry, just...a little hurt.
"She's not the enemy, Chloe." Kevin thought for a moment. "And we're not 'dating'. I don't think, at least. I don't know. We JUST MET, sis."
Irene opened the fridge again and pulled out the OJ, pouring herself a glass and took a sip. Turning back to Chloe, "For the record, whatever Paige says, doesn't mean the rest of us feel the way she does." She hoisted herself on the kitchen counter, taking another sip of juice.
"Ok, ok... we'll talk, at least." Chloe sighed. They were the competition, yes... but Chloe was a generally sweet person. She motioned to the other girl with a little 'yuck-face'. "But please... off the counter? We all share it, and frankly I dont know where that butt's been in the last 24 hours." She looked at Kevin. "NOR DO I WANT TO KNOW."
The bassist shrugged and hopped down off the counter, looking to Chloe and suddenly asking, "Would you like some toast? Tea, perhaps? Egg?"
Kevin watched the two, wondering if world war three was going to break out.
Chloe, for her part, looked like she was still expecting to wake from this nightmare aaaaaany minute now. "Um...I...sure?" She looked at Kevin and almost whined. "Kevin, I thought I was gonna try to get you hooked up with Lexi?"
And there, Kevin just glared at his sister. "Chloe? I love you and Lucy more than anything, you know that. But PLEASE stop with that stuff. I like Lexi. And I know she likes me. Always has. But if we want anything to happen? IT WILL. On it's own. And for your information, Ir... Lady G and I get along VERY well."
Since Chloe seemed rather rattled at having Irene in the house, she pantomimed to Kevin where the toaster was and bread. It was probably best that she didn't speak for a bit. Irene tried VERY, VERY hard not to grin at just HOW well they got along. She barely surpressed it, hiding it behind a cough.
"Fine." Chloe grumbled under her breath. "Admittedly, me and..." she pointed to Irene, not really knowing what to call her. "have never even really met... so for now, I reserve judgement. But if you EVER bring that tattooed skank that talks all the shit home, I will KILL you."
"Oh, please, darling. I would NEVER subject you to the likes of Paige in your home. I may be the competition, but I wouldn't wish that on you, ever."
And that, actually brought a giggle to Chloe. "Well... since you put it THAT way..." She relaxed a LITTLE bit, and popped a piece of candy from her purse, and into her mouth. Yes, it was early morning. YOUR POINT?
Irene quirked a brow, but didn't say anything. Everyone had their ways of dealing with stress. Instead of saying anything about the candy the bassist inquired, "How do your like egg?"
"Scrambled, please." Chloe felt a little odd, letting a stranger, and one who was in direct competition with her at that, cook in her kitchen. But she was a guest of her brother's, so she shut her mouth and smiled sweetly.
Gorgeous blue eyes then flicked to the only male in the room, lips that had long ago lost their ruby color last night and smiled, "Kevin?"
"Over easy, if you don't mind." He gave her an adorably sweet smile, before giving Chloe a look that BEGGED 'be nice'.
Looking to Chloe, Irene cleared her throat, "I'll just...ahem, put some pants on. Be right back." The witch then dashed down the hall to put more clothing on.
As soon as she left, Chloe pointed at Kevin with a look that was meant to be intimidating, but came off as cute. "Of ALL the skanky, easy girls that hang out at Eden, you end up bringing one of the Coma White girls home???"
"Hey! I dont LIKE skanky, easy girls. And you know that! Look, I know your bands aren't on great terms, but she's never made ONE comment about you girls, right?" Kevin asked, pleading.
Irene paused outside the kitchen, listening. Even if she wasn't a witch, you could feel the stressful energy radiating from the room like waves. Just what on earth had Paige been saying about this band, exactly?
"Alright, alright. I mean, you already said you're not exactly DATING yet... so... just take it slow, ok?" Chloe looked like she was going to faint. "Meredith's gonna blow a freakin GASKET."
Irene re-entered the kitchen with a smile pasted on her face, wearing her yellow leggings and red mini skirt from last night, still wearing one of Kevin's shirts.
"Yeah, I know. I didn't even know you guys were competitors, really. Kinda found out during..." he coughed "conversation, last night. But trust me, she's a great girl."
"Perhaps the two of you could help brew up some tea and make toast?" She suggested, pulling out eggs and trying her best to calm a tense moment.
"I'll make the tea." Chloe smiled again, trying like hell to be nice. She was a ncie girl by trade, and wanted to like any girl her brother liked enough to bring home.
As Irene tended to the eggs, she questioned, "You must be Chloe, right?"
"Yeah. AKA the one hidden behind the drum kit. I notice your guitarist doesn't have any trouble knowing who we are." She sighed, not saying it in anger. She got the impression that this girl at least wanted to be friendly for Kevin's sake. "I believe she said our new guitarist is a '5th grader who acts like she snacks on uppers'. That's my sister."
Irene's shoulders sagged in annoyance. Paige definitely had a way with words. "I don't know if I should apologize or not, but...I do apologize for Paige's behaivor. It's rather unprofessional in my opinion, but..." The bassist shrugged, "She's good, so Ginny puts up with her."
Kevin sat there in silence, while Chloe told the other girl what their biggest problem with the other band was. Finally, he spoke. "Yeah. Um... I don't blame you at ALL for it, hell I didn't even know that's the band you're in. But that guitarist... Paige, is it?... she's said some hurtful things about Lucy. And the other girls, too."
While they were talking, Irene found plates and served Kevin his over-easy egg and Chloe's, scrambled along with the toast. Pouring tea for everyone, including herself, Irene sat with the siblings and felt she needed to explain things, "Paige...has her moments. When she's not starting trouble, she can be quite tolerable. When she wants to be, that is," Irene added with a sigh, sipping her tea. She smiled, nodding to Chloe, "Lovely tea, darling." Pinching a piece of toast for herself, Irene continued, "All I can say is, I'll talk to Ginny and Ginny can talk to Paige." The witch shrugged "I can't garuantee anything, but...I can try." Irene smiled at the two of them and then sipped more tea.
Kevin grinned at her and kissed her on the cheek. "Hey, it's ok. You're not the one any of the girls have a problem with, ok?"
In a total 180 from her casual demeanor, color blossomed on Irene's cheeks at the kiss and she smiled shyly at him, "I know, you're right..."
Chloe sighed, realizing Kevin was right. Hell, she'd heard the group's singer was actually a wonderful young woman. It was mostly Paige they all wanted to kick the ass of. "Fine, fine... yuck." she giggled and stood. "You guys...you know...have fun. I'm gonna go find Lucy and make sure she doesn't have to go through the same convo we just had."
Irene gulped down some tea while Chloe spoke and then called after her, "It was a pleasure meeting you, Chloe!" She smiled and waved a little at the girl.
Kevin held back laughter as he watched Chloe leave, and shrugged to Irene. "Congrats. You just survived Hurricane Chloe."
