Shopping for Ash?
Who: Buffy and Ash
Where: One of the many malls in LA
When: Monday Afternoon
Buffy realized that this was kind of going to be like pulling teeth. Ash was definitely addicted to black as his major form of color, but it made him look even paler, if that was even possible. Sure, he still wanted to stick with dark colors, but at least a dark blue or green was a nice change from all the freaking black. "So, what do you think we should shop for first? Shirts, pants, shoes? What? There's so much that we need to get for you."
Ash grumbled to himself, wondering what he had gotten himself into, and briefly, how he went from a warlock intent on destroying the world to a junior watcher being forced to shop in a schintzy mall. "....I suppose the lesser of the evils is... shirts?"
"OK," Buffy said with a grin, pulling him towards one of the male stores in the mall. As soon as they were in there, she turned to him and asked, "So, what size are you?"
"Medium." He said with a hush, feeling himself blush a little. This was... mildly embarrassing. "I guess I need to gain a little weight."
She looked at him for a second. "Nah, you look fine to me," she said. She turned around and started grabbing shirts off of different racks.
"Dear sweet lord." Ash said, watching as she picked shirts that, while nice, were nothing he'd ever choose to wear. "You're not going to make this easy on me, are you." He knew she was enjoying this, especially the part of it making him uncomfortable.
She turned around and smiled at him. "You need more variety in your wardrobe," Buffy said to him. "I'm sure that your girlfriend will appreciate seeing you in something other than black."
"I don't know..." Ash, comically enough, sounded sweetly defensive there. "Johnny Cash made it work.."
"Well, Johnny Cash is a singer, and your a Watcher/Warlock type person," Buffy said to him. "It really only worked for him. Besides, colors won't exactly kill you."
He knew it was useless. "....if I see ONE bright color, I am outta here."
"No bright colors," Buffy promised. They would probably wash him out, anyway. "We're still sticking with the dark color family here. It's all about baby steps, after all."
"....the things a Watcher does to keep his Slayer happy." He grumbled, looking at whatever she was holding, to see if he found it TOO offensive.
Buffy was mostly holding long sleeved and short sleeved shirts in dark colors, like navy, brown, and dark green and purple. She really was trying here. "It might make your girlfriend happy, too, so be quiet."
"Hey, I really do appreciate this." He laughed, shaking his head. "I know a girl as into fashion and stuff as Lucy has to get tired of seeing my wardrobe..."
She laughed. "I'm sure she likes you, dark dressing and all. She'll just love seeing you in something else, I just know it."
"I hope so." Granted, the two of them had gotten closer... but why he was opening up like this? He didn't know. "...I'm not exactly sure what she sees in me. I'm just glad she does."
"She probably sees that you're a pretty caring person," Buffy pointed out as she started to grab a few pairs of pants off of the racks as well. She just made a guesstimate about his size there.
"Which is strange... because you and her are two of the only people I *do* care about." He admitted. "And seriously, have you SEEN her? Like she couldn't get some big, uberhandsome jock or something?"
"I highly doubt that she wants one of those," Buffy pointed out. "I've dating a few of those. Nothing going on up top. If you want to have some conversation with someone past sports, I know you should never date a football player."
"Well, then thank God Lucy can look inside then." Ash said with a laugh. "At least I know I can protect her. Anyone comes near her..." he waggled his fingers, knowing she'd understand that he meant his little 'lightning strike' he'd mastered.
"Does she know that you're all 'super powerful warlock'?" Buffy asked. That was probably something that wasn't fun to spring on a person. She just had known about it for so long that it seemed second nature to her.
He nodded. "Luckily, he sister is a witch, so... she's sort of used to that stuff. I still haven't told her QUITE how bad I got last year, but... it'll come in time."
"Well, at least it's a process in the making," Buffy said. "That's something you need to come clean on, though. I'm sure your ex will probably send her a note or something if you don't, and I don't mean Dawn." Mere was OK for a vampire, but came off as a little giggly and vindictive for Buffy.
"Jesus. Buffy? She's like... a different person now." Ash was finally coming clean on his feelings for Mere, and it shocked him that he was doing so with Buffy. "Everyone keeps saying she's still the same Meredith, but Buffy... she's changed. She's so... vicious now. And not just physically. It kills me to see her sometimes."
"Well, she is and she isn't," Buffy said to him. "Sure, she's got the same memories, the same face, heck, even the same feeling for everyone. However, she doesn't have a soul now. It's going to make her a bit nastier, you know? She dared me to stake in her in a club once, and it turned out that it had a spell on the place that prevented violence. I was blown back into a table. She just cracked up. Of course, it probably depends on who she's hanging with, too. Who's she around now?"
"No clue really. I just know about her bandmates and that... boyfriend of hers." He grumbled that last part. He want jealous of Ben at all, and sort-of got along with the werewolf.. but something about Ben bothered him all the same.
"Sounds like you love him," Buffy said sarcastically. "Sounds like she needs a few better influences, though. Maybe she'd act a little better."
Ash nodded, sighing again. "Ben's... ok. But for a person like Meredith? He's not the world's best influence. I think he could out-immoral most vampires, actually. Hell, if he ever met you, he'd definitely try to bed you in the first five minutes of the conversation."
"Yuck much?" Buffy said with a grimace. "He's the guy that's head of that club, Avarice, right? Guy gives me the willies." She shook her head. "Well, for your sake, I hope she gets better friends. Wouldn't want her to go flat out evil."
"None of us want that." He closed his eyes. "Trust me on that."
Buffy nodded. She would rather not have to stake people she went to high school with, either. Mere hadn't been that bad until she went all vampire on everyone. "So, why don't we get you to a dressing room and try all of this on."
Ash nodded and took the clothing, wondering how he let himself be talked into this...
