How Do I Tell Him This?
Who: Mere and Pat
Where: Mere and Jack's Place
When: The Same Night that Patience is brought back
Mere figured that this was something better to tell in person. Pat was much less likely to stake her than Ash, plus she could toss him through a wall if need be. Her dad would probably get pissed because she hurt the lead singer of his band, though. So, she hoped it wouldn't come to that. She went back home and started to look for Pat. "Pat, where you at?"
Pat had been in the kitchen, where until a few minutes earlier, he'd been sharing a few beers with Jack, until the guitarist decided to head off to bed. So for now, he remained there, finishing the beer he was on. "Yo. In here, Mere."
Mere stuck her head in the kitchen. "If I tell you something completely out of the world, promise to believe me and not stake me for mistakenly thinking that I'm fucking with you?" She was one to get right to the point, after all.
Pat blinked, and... after a few quiet moments, burst out laughing. "Meredith? Both pre-and-post vampire... that is the most nervous and rambly I have EVER heard you. What's going on?"
"Sorry...really don't wanna get staked here," Mere pointed out. After making sure there were no sharp wooden objects around, she continued. "I have good news. Freaky, beyond the grave news, but it's good. You should keep sitting down for it."
"Oh. Good. More beyond the grave shit. Who's back now, my English professor, so he can kick me out of his classroom again?" He was happy for Iris, he knew... but the whole ghost thing still irked him a little.
"Um...it's Patience..." Mere said. She then winced. "No staking! I'm totally serious here! She's back and a full human person! No vampire in her."
"......" Pat just.... looked at her. "Meredith... you... please, tell me that even if you've gone full-blown evil vampire, you'd never say this if it wasn't 100% true."
"Um...no, there are some things that you just don't even joke about," Mere pointed out. "See why I was so nervous? Everyone assumes that since I'm a vampire, I'm going to fuck with them."
"It's not... I mean..." he couldn't verbally spar with her... not now. "Mere... I mean... are you sure it's her? I mean... how...?"
"I really don't know how," Mere admitted. "Ben called me over and there she was, laying on the couch. She was going to take a shower and then I think that Ben was going to take her to see Ash. She really wants to see you, though."
"BEN?" Pat blanched, his face turning white. "You left my Patience alone with BEN? Ohmygod. OhmyGOD." He looked sick. "I love you, Mere, but if he lays ONE dirty finger on her..."
"He's not!" Now she just sounded downright indignant. "Goddamnit! Ben is actually a really nice guy! He's not going to bang Patience six ways from Sunday just because she's around. Amazingly enough, he does have a little in the way of morals!"
Pat was too freaked out to argue, or apologize, whichever. "Is she... I mean... you knew her... is she the same?"
He didn't have the courage to say the words, 'did she ask about me?'
"She seems pretty much the same. I mean, she did ask about you and try to find you, but we thought that it might be a good idea to warn you first instead of you thinking that she was a zombie or something," Mere told him.
"Where is she?" He asked, almost demanded. "I... I have to see her..."
"Right now, taking a shower at Ben's place," Mere said. "I figure Ben's gonna take her over to Ash's as soon as she's done. We could probably intercept there."
"I'm gonna... gonna go change my clothes... and then.... yeah." He was stunned. In disbelief, actually, as if nothing would make this sink in until he actually SAW her. "Then we should go there..."
"Sure, sounds good," Mere said. She went to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of beer out of it. She was pretty sure that she was going to need it by the end of the night.
