Ben and Frost's Excellent Adventure
Who: Ben, Frost... and a surprise guest. When: Monday Night Where: Brightview Cemetary
It wasn't the lazy waking-up-from-a-good-sleep. It was abrupt, jarring, almost painful in its suddenness. Every muscle stiffened up, contracting into vicious, tight knots while her eyelids closed and she clapped her hands to her eyes, which were suddenly assaulted by the bright, cold light of a halogen bulb. She struggled to draw in a breath, and coughed out tiny pebbles, sputum, and flecks of dirt and bits of congealed blood. Three breaths, three choking, bitter breaths like that, and she curled up on her side, willing the cramps to disappear.
The slab she was laying on was narrow than she expected, and she fell to the concrete floor with a thump and a soft cry, and the sound startled her. She hadn't realized she could make sounds.
Wearing a jet black suit and tie, Benjamin Bale stood next to the slab, looking the girl over with an amusing mixture of disgust and awe. "Well. I have to admit, she's damned good looking for a corpse."
It was meaningless noise to the person on the floor. Her hands searched for purchase, and found the leg of the slab. Clumsily, like she wasn't used to having fingers anymore, she worked her way up until she was awkwardly standing.
Frost screwed a cigarette between her lips with dirty fingers. "Fuck her if you want. She's just meat. Concious meat, but meat. Like a virgin all over again - she wouldn't know what the fuck you were doing." She pulled a lighter from her pocket and lit up her smoke. "If you wanted to get really graphic, like a little fucking kid."
"You know, that would be a disturbing visual if I had anything resembling morals." Ben said, shaking his head. "But no... I did this as a favor. A way of getting in the good graces of this new Watcher's Council. Seems that all the trouble we've had recently with time being flipped around caused a few anomalies. This girl being one of them."
"Your loss." Frost went over and swatted the woman's ass, evoking a little protesting yelp. "Grade A meat." She smirked and went over to a bright red tool box, pulling a surgical mask from around her neck and tossing it in, and closing it up with a metallic snapping sound on each side. "Well, if you decide on breaking her in, lemme know when you're done. I gotta get home; babysitter upped her fucking prices. Don't let her loose until she has a bath and actually has blood in her. She reeks of fermeldahyde."
The woman, now ignoring the sting on her backside, was trying to take a few tentative steps.
"She'll heal. It's all part of whatever..." he pointed upward with a roll of his eyes. "They have in mind. All I know is... the warlock better appreciate this shit."
"Gotta fix their screwups somehow, I guess. Last chance to break in that pretty little ass and let me watch." Frost raised an eyebrow at him.
"Are you kidding? I'd more likely break YOU in, gorgeous." Ben said, once more being his usual perverse self. "And let my girlfriend watch."
"You could try." Frost shot back, with that insane giggle bubbling up behind her voice. It was suddenly very obvious why she was considered a very, very, very dangerous vampire.
"God, crazy bitches are sexy..." he mumbled to himself, before looking back to the mostly still form in front of him. "Hey... can you hear me?"
"According to the manual," Frost said, though she very obviously didn't have a manual, "it'll take her a few minutes to start connecting sounds as words again. I'm leaving." She didn't bother saying 'goodbye', she just picked up the toolkit, and headed for the door.
The woman visibly didn't understand Ben, she just looked at him with confusion. But she understood that he was making noises at her, which was an improvement.
"If you're starting to understand this... give me some kind of sign. I need to know when you're coherent." Ben said, hands clasped behind his back.
The look of confusion stayed for a moment, then melted into something much more understanding, and she even managed to take a few steps before collapsing and needing something to cling too - the slab again. She hauled herself her feet with pig-headed determination and nodded to Ben. She also made a sound that wasn't quite a word and completely incomprehensible, but at least she'd given it a shot.
"There has been... a lot going on. And somehow, a time anomaly has given you a second chance on life. And the Powers That Be have deemed me to be the one to welcome you back to the world. Allow me to introduce myself... I'm Benjamin Bale."
"..." She tried speaking again, tried to get her tongue and lips to work in conjunction. It took a couple minutes. See, all those nerves were still kind of dead, in a way. They just needed practice to start working again. Not even practice. More like a reminder. "Pay-pa-patience. Patience." She looked so proud when she said that.
"Yes, Ms. Kowalski... I know who you are. Now... we need to get you healthy again. So that your dear brother can hopefully get his life back on track." He looked at her, trying his best to NOT hit on her. This wasnt the time or place. Patience coughed again, bringing up more lung-sludge flecked with blood that looked more fresh now, and speckled with dirt.
"You're... feeling like hell right now, I know. But trust me... within a day or so, tops... you'll be back to normal." Ben grinned, looking almost predatory. "I needed to do SOMETHING to get myself in the good graces of the new Watcher's Council... and when the opportunity arose to return you to your brother, I knew that was the chance."
"N-need a shower..." She mumbled, as if only now realizing how filthy she was.
Again, he had to bite back the flirting, the offering to help her with that. "Of course. Come. I'll take you back to my home, we'll get you cleaned up, fed, feeling a little better... then we'll see what you need next."
"...kay. Shower. Then Pat 'n' Ash." She might've looked like a zombie at this point, though she was actually getting a little color in her cheeks, but apparently she was still as stubborn as a damn rock.
"Yes. Well." Annnnd there was the part he cringed at inwardly. She hadn't been around for any of the changes that had occured in both men. Better to let hr recover first, before dropping any of this on her. "Right. Shower. Let's go, darling... you've got... a long day ahead of you."
