Meeting Another Influence
Who: Mere and Natalia
Where: Avarice
When: Late Night
Avarice was jumping, full of people of varying ages, and the music currently piping through was a thumping, bass-heavy mix of "You Can't Bring Me Down" by Suicidal Tendencies. Not exactly a song you can dance to, right? Not if you're the slightly-whacked, ensouled vampire named Natalia. The pale, gothic vampire with the bright red hair swayed to and fro, as if some slow, rhythmic stripping music were playing. Her eyes closed, as she was in her own little world. Was she hearing some other music in her head? Or was she just... in her own mind, finding this utterly dancable? Who knew? But in her white, torn corset and gown with different colored thigh high stockings, she stood out like a sore thumb.
Mere was sitting at a table, off by herself for the time being, nursing a drink. She watched the woman dance to her own tune off on the dance floor. Even from all the way over here, she could sense that the other woman was a vampire. At the same time, she wasn't getting quite the same vibes that she got off of others, like Willow. Fascinated, she watched the woman for a while, as if hypnotized by her swaying hips.
As the song ended, Natalia kept dancing (to no music at all) for about ten seconds before realizing, with a childish pout, that there was no more music. With a long sigh, she shuffled sweetly over to the bar, looking like a kid who'd just been told Santa was a lie.
After a few moments, Mere got up and walked over to the bar herself. She needed a refill on her drink, anyway, and she really wanted to get to know this other woman. "Hi, mind if I buy you a drink?" she asked her when she walked over.
"That would be wonnnnnnnderful!" The woman said with a chipper tone that sounded slightly odd, considering the dreamy, otherworldly drawl she spoke in. "Maybe something pretty... like something blue or green..."
"Alright," Mere said. "Hey, barkeep, can you make us up something either blue or green to drink?" Quickly enough, a blue drink was served up. "It's a Blue Hawaii," the bartender said, passing it to the woman.
"Blue is SUCH a lovely color, don't you think?" Natalia grinned at Meredith, before sweetly poking her in the chest. "YOU are not like all the others."
"Blue is a great color. It used to be my favorite color for bikinis before I developed such a terrible skin allergy," Mere said with a grin. "How am I not like all the others? Neither are you, at least compared to what I've ran into."
"You still have some good in you. I can smell it." The girl twirled around once, like a twisted ballerina. "I can smellllll ittttt..." she finished with a singsong voice.
"I didn't develop that nasty habit of wanting to eat my loved ones, or kill them in slow and painful ways," Mere said with a shrug. "Seems to make me unique in these parts. Why are you different? You don't give off the same vibe as the others do."
Natalia looked to and fro, as if expecting someone to be listening, then leaned in conspiratorially. "...*I* have a soul."
Mere tilted her head at Natalia and looked at her for a moment. "Really? How did you get one of those?"
"I wanted to be with the man I loved...." She sighed and twirled again. "He was such a lovely, lovely man.... and I knew to make him happy.... I needed to be the girl I was before this..."
Huh...what a coincidence, considering what Ash said to her the night before. "Kind of know where you're coming from with that. I know a guy...he said to me that he wishes he could make me the way I was, too."
"Looooove... it's such a wicked, but grand invention..." She said it with a tone that would sound sarcastic if not for her nature.
"Definitely wicked," Mere said. She'd buy that in a heart beat. "So, how did you get that soul back, anyway?" If it involved finding a lamp in the desert, then no freaking way.
"It was a lonnnnnng journey... I had to pass tests, to see if I was worthy..." She shivered a bit, cutely nibbling her lower lip. "It hurt more than you would think one of our kind could feel..."
"You'd think that they'd be happy to stick souls back in vampires," Mere said. She wasn't really looking to get a soul, but it was definitely an idea to keep around. Just in case.
"It's not always niiiiiice..." She sighed, holding her hand to her forehead all dramatically. "You suddenly realize... just how many horrid things you've done... and those things can never be undone..."
Not exactly a selling point there. "Sounds like a lot of trouble," Mere said, ordering herself another drink finally.
"Trouble... trouble trouble trouble..." She sang, almost to herself, like some little lullaby, before grinning at Meredith. "I've decided. You're going to be my friend."
"Am I trouble, or am I going to be in trouble?" This chick was weird. Cool, but really weird. "Sure, I could always use more friends, especially other ones who have skin allergies."
"Ohhhh, yes. I can see it now!" Natalia was getting as excited as a child on Christmas morning. "We'll fix each other's hair... and watch movies in our pajamas..."
"Sure...mine have cartoon vampires on them." A recent gift from Skylar after everyone adjusted.
Natalia clapped happily, hopping up and down once, tiptoeing closer to Meredith, unwittingly thrusting her cleavage almost into the other girl's face. "You're going to be a fun, fun friend."
Mere merely blinked at the nice rack thrust into her face for a moment. "I think we'll have a pretty good time together, too."
"You're really very pretty. I hope very much I don't have to kill you." She said it so sweetly, though, that it almost sounded adorable.
Mere just smiled. "I'll try to play nice then." She really had no intention of pissing off the more powerful vampire.
"Let's go have fun. The niiiiiight is young...." Natalia sang, taking Meredith's arm in hers.
"What kind of fun do you have in mind, darling?" Mere asked, letting the other vampire link up arms with her.
"Anything our wondrous minds can think of..." She said, not really helping, as she led them towards the exit...
