Slayer Bonding
Who: Buffy and Sin
Where: Regan High School
When: Monday Afternoon
Another typical day at Reagan High. Cynthia Stone was slightly happier than usual, though. Not that she usually lacked in the spunk or cheer department, but today, she finally had almost everything she wanted. She had a close circle of friends, she had a boyfriend... and now she had a watcher. So the goofy young girl sat outside at lunch today, on a branch a few feet up a nearby tree, munching a sandwich and watching other kids walk around.
Buffy was walking around outside. She had finished off her lunch early and not just needed to find a way to fill the time until she had to go back to class. The 'thing' she had going with Derek seemed to have cooled lately. Not a huge deal, but a little saddening none the less. Hopefully, they could still be friends. He was too normal, though. She kept having to make excuses for her lifestyle anyway. When she spotted Sin, she waved and walked over. "Mind if I join you?" she asked.
Sin looked down to where Buffy was walking over, and waved from her branch. "Sure... be right there." And she flipped down from the branch... a move that would have been graceful for any other Slayer. But for her? Yeah... she lost her balance and fell on her ass. "....ow."
"You OK?" Buffy asked, stifling a giggle. Her and Sin didn't usually hang out. It reminded her a little too much of 'work' to be too fun. Still, she needed to have friends around her. Slayer friends would at least not need the fake explanations.
"Juuuuust ducky, thanks." Sin replied, rubbing her ass. She wore a typically odd outfit today, a baggy vintage Joan Jett t-shirt over a leopard-print skirt and two different colored legwarmers, one green and one blue. "So what bring you to my neck of the... well... schoolyard, I guess?"
"Didn't realize the schoolyard was divided, and shouldn't we be on the same side, anyway?" Buffy asked. Buffy herself was wearing a green dress with little white flowers on it at the moment, so there would be no tree climbing for her. "Just saw you and figured I'd stop by and chat for a bit."
"Sounds cool to me. We've really only met a few times... I figured someone like you was kinda... you know..." she shrugged, not wanting to sound insulting. "Too cool to hang with me. I know I'm kinda a spaz... I mostly hang with the other misfits."
"Well, trust me, I'm not too cool to hang out with anyone." Most people in this school didn't even know who she was, and a part of her really wanted to keep it that way. Not worth the effort anymore.
"Oh come on." Sin chuckled there, motioning to Buffy, then to herself. "Look at you, then look at me. You - hotness. Me - spaz. As it is, I think Meredith only hangs with me because I make her laugh. Me and Catherine are like, the misfits-at-arms here."
"You're still quite pretty," Buffy said. Different, but pretty. "At least you've gotten a Watcher. I *still* don't have one. I think they've forgotten about me, you know?"
"PLEASE!" Sin laughed, waving a hand. "I just got mine, like... YESTERDAY. Plenty of girls still trying to get them. You'll be fine. I've seen you, you at least have some grace. I've gotta be the clumsiest slayer in history."
"Well, I'm willing to be that's not true, since they've got like, ten thousand years or something on you. Statistically, there has to be someone more clumsy," Buffy offered.
"Smart-ass." Sin laughed, warming up to her immediately. "Hopefully you'll get a crusty old dude or something. My watcher? Totally cool, but if I go out anywhere with her, my stock immediately goes down. She's like... gorgeous."
Buffy laughed. "I think Faith got the overhaul on stuff old dudes," she said. "But even then she seems to have rubbed off a little bit of cool on him." That girl had tons to spare, though. "Who knows what I'll get. Who else is still missing one? Do you know?"
"Nah. Like I said... the others kinda avoid me like I had leprosy or something. I pretty much hang with Catherine. And her watcher is pretty cool." She shook her head, her dark red hair shaking like a shaggy dog. "We should train together sometime. I'm sure Delilah wouldn't mind, if I tell her you're still waiting for a Watcher."
"I'd appreciate that," Buffy said about training with them. At least it would make her feel like a real Slayer by training with a Watcher, even if it wasn't her Watcher.
"Delilah's totally cool. She'll be down with it. If not, I'll bat my eyelashes and whine about how I don't wanna lose one of the onyl friends I have." Sin chortled and grinned.
Buffy laughed. "I'm glad that you're willing to go to bat for me like this. Thanks, seriously."
"See, that's why befriending lame misfit kids rocks socks, dude. We know how hard it is to get friends, so we go totally all out for the ones we have." She snorted and leaned against the tree.
"Well, if there's anything that I can do for you, let me know, OK?" Buffy asked.
"Nah, I'm an easy chica to please, for real. Just hang with me, tolerate my increasingly weird sense of humor, and we're the bee's knees, man." Sin shook her head for a second, to shake a few leaves from her mane of oddly-colored hair.
"Then I think we'll be the bee's knees then," Buffy said with a laugh.
