Kitties With Cat Claws
Who: Andrea and Payton
Where: Regan High
When: Wednesday Afternoon, 3/23
Ah, finally. It was lunch time. Payton didn't have a chance to get breakfast in the morning, which meant that she was absolutely famished hours before lunch and completely unfocused during class. The brunette cheerleader made her way to her locker, dressed, as usual, in her cheerleading uniform, intending to stash her bag inside before dashing off to lunch. Hopefully she'd get a chance to see Eric, as well, but she wasn't about to say that one out loud.
Andi slammed the door of her locker shut after removing her bagged lunch from the metal holder. Readjusting the strap of her backpack on her shoulder the teen track star headed down the corridor toward the lunchroom.
Payton almost made the mistake of running into Andi, but had sense enough to skid to a stop behind the girl, almost unbalancing and toppling over in the process. "Shit. Sorry!" ...Wow. There was a word that likely few people had ever heard Payton utter. "Didn't see you."
"It's okay." Andi started to say as she glanced back to the girl who almost ran her over. No harm done sat on the tip of her tongue never finding a voice when Andrea recognized the cheerleader behind her. Andrea had never been formally introduced to her brother's girlfriend, but that hadn't prevented Andrea from finding out a little about the girl, including what she looked like. And caught in the unexpected moment all Andrea could do was stare at the other girl.
While no formal introductions had been made, Payton recognised Andrea as well. However, Eric had never told her about Andrea's... misgivings about her, so she gave the girl a hesitant smile. "Andrea, right? Eric's sister?"
"Yeah," Andrea returned stoically, "Payton, right?" The teen refrained from adding 'Eric's girlfriend' as she was still hoping that relationship status would change.
"Yeah," Payton replied, unsure how to proceed with this. Given her shapeshifting ability, she was good at reading other people, meaning that she could read Andrea's dislike of her. Awesome. "Yeah." She started walking towards the lunch room, a little slower this time. "How are... things?"
"Good." Andrea answered as they both walked the corridor toward the cafeteria. "What about you? How's the cheerleading thing going." While she did indeed have a dislike for her brother's present girlfriend, Andrea still had tact enough to make small talk with the other girl. Which was most because of the fact that she'd probably hear from Eric after word of her mistreatment of Payton got back to him.
"Busy," Payton replied as honestly as she could. Wow. This was a riveting conversation, wasn't it? "Eric tells me that you're on the track team. Are you any good?"
"If you consider beating the current record of 10.49 being good, then yeah, I guess you could say I am." Andi told Payton trying not to sound anywhere near boastful. The teen knew she was good in track, but Andrea had never been one to brag about her accomplishments in that field. The way she saw it, Payton had asked and she had simply given an answer.
"Impressive," Payton replied. She wasn't much to talk about her personal life, let alone accomplishments, so she left it at that. "I'll have to see you run sometime."
"Maybe Eric will bring you along next time he comes to watch me run." Hopefully not, though, but with Payton now being the center of her older brother's universe, it would be more likely then not that Andrea would see the cheerleader at her next meet.
"Hopefully," Payton replied. She knew how much Andrea meant to Eric, but rather got the impression that she wasn't a welcome part of his life. Then again, she'd rather keep Eric to herself and not have anything to do with his sibling. They each had their cross to bear, didn't they? Finally at the lunch room, she stepped inside first, already looking over to her usual table. "I guess I'll see you later."
"More likely then not." Andrea responded when the reached the cafeteria doors. That they attended the same school and the fact that Payton was dating her brother, it was inevitable that they'd run into each other again. And while Payton seemed like an actual nice girl in the short walk they shared, it was the cheerleader's rep that was a concern to the track star.
