Meeting The Offical Intern of the Watchers Council
Who: Cyd and Jodi
Where: The Hyperion
When: Saturday, March 12
Melaka's parting words had remained with her for several days, nagging at her until Cyd found herself packing up what little she had and booking a flight from Alaska to the city of Los Angeles. After her flight landed, Cyd hopped into a cab with instructions for the driver to take her to the Hyperion Hotel. The ride was uneventful, most of the drive done in silence as the Slayer wasn't much in the mood for conversation as she was suffering. still, from a slight case of jet-lag. Finally finding herself at the hotel's front door, Cyd finally pushed through them with her duffel type bag clenched within a hand unsure of just what she should be expecting.
Sitting in the hotel lobby, books spread out everywhere, was young Jodi Hanson, the 'intern' of the Watcher's Council. She was writing in her little notebook, jotting down notes she'd taken on how each Slayer could possibly improve themselves. Adjusting the plaid newsboy cap she wore, she looked up from behind those thin-framed glasses when Cyd walked in. "Can I help you?" She asked politely.
At the sound of the voice, Cyd's eyes shifted toward the direction that the young voice came from. "Hey kid." She said with a fixed gaze on Jodi as she moved forward toward the girl. "You got a Faith or Melaka here?" Jodi looked too young to be a Slayer, even on in training, but this had been the place she had been sure she'd find one of the other Slayers.
Jodi visibly bristled at being called 'kid', but tried being professional. "Mel's in the library reading up on some stuff. Ms. Lehane is working with Mr. Giles I believe." Well. Did Jodi still obviously not like Faith? And ADORE Melaka? Hm. "Who are you?"
"Name's Cyd." She answered giving a slow glance around the lobby when she stopped a couple short feet from Jodi. "Strange place to be doing your homework, kid." Cyd added when she looked back at the younger girl sitting there amidst piles of books.
"Its not homework." Jodi said, raising an eyebrow as she gave a slightly indignant huff, which came off FAR cuter than it was meant to. "I do a lot of important work here."
"Such as?" The Slayer inquired of the girl setting her bag down and then reached for one of the books as she crouched down near Jodi. Definitely too young to be even a Watcher in training, and no where near having the stuff a Slayer was made of. At least those were Cyd's thoughts on what the girl was not.
"Pleeeease!" Jodi scoffed with an adorable laugh, "like I'm gonna just tell you privileged info without knowing anything about you?" Now let's for a moment forget that she was clearly looking at at least five giant tomes that had pictures of monsters and demons clearly visible...
"Privileged info, huh? Shouldn't you be out being a normal teenager with your friends." Cyd commented leisurely while taking up one of the thick volumes to page through it. "Instead of sitting here with your nose in thick volumes on the supernatural."
"My work is more important than hanging out with friends." Jodi then gave a sheepish grin and laughed. "Plus? I don't have many of those anyway. Are you here to meet someone?"
"The guy in charge, if he's around." Cyd answered. The Slayer kind of had the feeling that neither Faith nor Melaka would meet her with open arms if they heard she had come to the city.
"Mr. Giles? He's not in right now... But I'm the intern around here... Tell me what ya need and maybe I can help you!" She said cheerily, just... wanting to feel important.
"Intern of what?" Cyd quirked a brow at that as she closed the thick volume she had been thumbing through and set it down.
"Come on. I can't tell ya anything until you confirm whyyyyy you're here!" Jodi had to laugh there, actually, at the absurdity of the two of them going back and forth like this.
"Kid, I could tell you who I am, but then I'd have to kill you." Cyd said with the straightest of faces. The only thing that gave away that the Slayer was joking was the wink she sent Jodi's way.
"Well? Same goes HERE." Jodi said, trying not to laugh. "Look. I work for the people you're here to see. Just tell me why you're here and I'll see what I can do."
"I'm the Slayer, Faith and Melaka went to Alaska to try and convince to come to L.A." Cyd finally told the young girl. And though quite resistant at first, Cyd finally buckled and made the trip to Los Angeles. And that was mostly due to the parting words Melaka had left her with.
"Oh! Ok! Well, I'm the Official Intern of the Watchers Council." Jodi said proudly not meaning to as, well, cute as she looked right now. "Since Mr. Giles and Ms. Delallo aren't here right now, I can help get you a room, so you can get some rest.."
"That'd be great kid." Cyd smiled as she took to her feet once again. "Just one thing, don't tell Faith or Melaka I'm in the city." Cyd wanted to handle that little bit of business on her own.
Jodi frowned then, not loving the idea of keeping anything from Melaka, one of the few slayers who had been NICE to her... but she nodded. "I won't tell anyone but Mr. Giles & Ms. Delallo. I swear."
"Thanks." And then smiling appreciatively to the younger girl, Cyd grabbed the handle of her duffle bag and readied to follow Jodi to one of the unoccupied rooms. Hopefully the bed would be comfortable and she could crash for the next few hours undisturbed.
