Everyone I Know is Getting Married
Who: Isabella and Rebecca
Where: Their home
When: Tuesday, March 8th
Given that it was a Tuesday, Isabella didn't have much trouble kicking the two teenagers out of the house early in the morning. She stuffed a few bills in each of their hands and sent them on their way, telling them that they could order something for breakfast. With that done, she quickly showered and got dressed before Rebecca could wake up, changing into something surprisingly feminine (for her) and set to making breakfast for Rebecca before she woke up. While... Isabella wasn't much of a cook, admittedly, she'd been taking classes recently, so she was confident enough to cook breakfast, at the very least. Oh yes, she had something in mind for this morning. Couldn't you tell?
When Rebecca finally pulled herself out of bed, made some order of her hair, and threw her bathrobe over her flimsy black nightie... she couldn't help but smell the food downstairs. Isa? Cooking? Riiiiiiiiiight. What the hell? With an adorably perplexed look, the woman padded barefoot into the kitchen, eyes going wide when she saw Isabella's outfit. "....holy CRAP."
Isabella looked over to Rebecca with a spatula in hand and couldn't help it but grin. Rebecca wasn't much of a swearer, so hey! At least what she was doing had an effect, huh? "Take a seat, it's alllllmost ready. Do you want tea, or coffee?"
"Tea, please." Becca looked, well... like a deer in headlights, honestly. "Did... did someone die or something? And you're trying to soften me up?"
"No," Isabella laughed. Fortunately the kettle had already boiled, so she set about to making Becca a tea, while she made a (gasp!) coffee for herself. Once Becca was situated at the dining table, she set the tea down in front of her and kissed her temple. "Do you know what today is?"
"....Tuesday?" Rebecca asked with a blink, clearly still a little shocked here. "Wow... I, um.... Ok, did I miss something, dear?"
Isabella wasn't entirely shocked. She remembered the date for a reason. She smiled and set about fixing up a plate for Becca. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, the works. "The eighth. This time last year... you were accompanying your daughter to a dance and happened to notice a stunningly beautiful woman standing at the bar."
"Oh... yes." Becca blushed, grinning brightly. "How could I forget the first time I laid eyes on that CJ girl..." Oh, what a cheeky one she could be! Sin's mother? Any doubt?
"Cheeky!" Isabella replied, grinning in a shocked way before moving over and setting the plate down in front of Becca. "You're lucky that I love you so much."
"I do have my moments..." Becca smiled at the other woman and blushed. "It *is* hard to believe we've been together so long... I remember thinking I didn't have a CHANCE with you..."
"I can't imagine why," Isabella murmured, going to collect her coffee before returning, sitting down beside Becca.
"Well... you have this intense, exciting life, and I'm... just a single mother." She smiled, nuzzling against Isa a little. "And now? We have this little family of ours. I love it SO much."
"Me too," Isabella purred, placing a kiss to Becca's temple. "Even IF Sin irritates me sometimes," she joked. "Hm. I think I've forgotten something." She frowned lightly, looking down at the table in front of them.
"She irritates ME sometimes too." Becca laughed, thinking back to the 'pitbull and poodle' remarks. "And I can't think of anything you could have forgotten, love. It's perfect."
Isabella smiled slyly. Oh my. What was she up to? "Well, there was ONE more thing." She reached under the table and pulled out a small jewelery box, setting it down on the table in front of Becca. "Open it."
Becca blinked again, feeling more and more like this was some surreal dream, before opening the box and gawking at the gorgeous engagement ring inside. "....um.... so... maybe I'm being a little dense, but.... is this...?"
Isabella smiled softly and pushed her chair back, kneeling down beside Becca. "I know that we still have a lot to learn about each other, but I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Before you came into my life, I had nothing. Now my life feels complete for having you in it. And more than anything, I'd like to spend the rest of my life making you feel the same way. Rebecca, will you marry me?"
"I.... I think I'd be the stupidest woman alive if I *didn't* say yes..." Rebecca stammered a little, fidgeting before sticking her hand out for Isa. "Yes, Isabella... I'd be honored to be your wife."
Isabella's smile widened then, as she took the ring from the small box and slid it on Becca's finger. "There. Perfect fit."
"I cannot believe this... when... when Cynthia's father and I split up, I figured that I'd never be married again. For obvious reasons..." She grinned goofily, that lopsided smile showing that she was DEFINITELY Sin's mother.
Isabella smiled as well, since she couldn't HELP it when Becca did, and gradually stood up, leaning over to press her lips gently against the other woman's. "Well, that's not something that you have to worry about."
"Never again?" Becca asked sweetly, resting her forehead against Isabella's, looking as though she were convinced she was in a dream...
"Never ever," Isabella murmured, smoothing a hand through Rebecca's hair soothingly. This was perhaps the most tender moment of Isabella's life, but damn if it didn't feel just RIGHT.
