What Friends Are For
Who: Shiloh and Baily
Where: Avarice
When: Monday Night, March 21
While most people who might have been traveling for weeks would be thinking of nothing other then getting home and just relaxing the night away, Shiloh only had one destination in mind when she hit the city limits.
Entering the club, Shiloh worked her way through the crowd of people toward the DJ booth. Once she reached it the blond smiled lifted up on her toes to knock on the glass in an attempt to get the attention of the DJ inside.
Baily happened to look down at around the right time and see Shiloh standing down near the DJ booth. With a big grin, she gave a signal to the relief DJ so that she could take a break and, once he came over, she hopped down from the booth. "Long time, no see!" she said with a big grin to Shiloh.
Shiloh couldn't help but give a grin in return to Baily after catching the other girl's excited greeting. "It has been a while, hasn't it." The blond stated moving in then to hug her friend. "Good to see you again, Baily." With her job having kept Shiloh away from the city for a couple, three weeks, it was definitely good to be seeing a familiar face again.
Baily hugged her back. "I'm on break now if you want to go grab a table and get a drink." She certainly wanted to do some catching up with her friend.
"That'd be great." Shiloh smiled warmly when she drew back from the hug. She had only intended on letting Baily know she was back and collect her spare key from the DJ only for the reason that she was sure Baily would be too busy to do much more.
Baily was due for her break anyway, so Shiloh was lucky that she had come in when she did. After picking out a table for the both of them, Baily flagged down a waitress and ordered herself a drink. "So, how was the latest trip?" she asked Shiloh.
Shiloh ordered herself a beer before answering Baily. "Guess you could say it was productive. Need approval from the top man, but I think Full Moon will soon have two new acts under their label." Out of all the acts she had scouted, Shiloh only found two she felt were worthy of being signed to the record company she worked for.
"That's great," Baily said with a smile. Even though she hadn't been doing good lately, she was SO happy to be seeing her friend again. With Pat pretty much out of the picture, she didn't have much in the way of friends outside of her family. "I'm sure that they'll get approved."
"I hope so. There's some real talent in what I found." Not that Shiloh was doubting herself, she was too good at what she did, and she had a proven track record that result in profits for both recording companies she worked for. Past and present. "So, what's been happening with you?"
Baily sighed a little when she asked what was happening with her. "Ugh. What's NOT happening with me?" she muttered, taking another sip of her drink. "My love life is kind of in the toilet right now."
"What do you mean?" Shiloh asked, her voice filled with concern. "I thought you had got yourself involved with Patrick McConnell and things were great between you two." Shiloh had definitely been away from L.A. far too long to have missed the disintegration of Baily's relationship with one Patrick McConnell.
Baily made a face. "Yeah....that didn't work out," she said, tipping back her beer and downing half of it. "Apparently I wasn't his wife, which just made me not enough for him." Unless it was brought up, she'd probably leave out the part where he found another Patience. That was just...extra complicated.
"My opinion," the blond started before taking a swig of her beer, "his loss. Guy obviously is in need of a strong pair of glass not to have seen the good thing that was in front of him." Shiloh's opinion of Patrick McConnell took a dive then, Baily certainly had deserved better then what he apparently put her through.
Baily nodded. "I agree. He's a dumbass. It's just the real actual 'moving on' that's starting to be an issue. After all these relationships, random sex just ain't doing it." OK, that was mostly a joke, but it really wasn't.
"What you need my friend is an escape from this damn city. Some place where no one knows you and vice versa. Some place where you can just forget everything and actual live for a couple days." Sure it might be easier for Shiloh to say then it would be for Baily to actually do, but at least it was a suggestion that might be workable for the dark haired DJ.
Baily nodded. "Maybe a vacation in New York for a few days or a week wouldn't be the worst idea in the world." She would go to Vegas and stay with Gwen...but that's where Pat was now. Still, she might visit Gwen and just make sure that Pat wasn't around anywhere at the time, anyway. "A vacation isn't a terrible idea at all."
"New York, Sweetie? You've got to expand your vacation horizons." Shiloh grinned at her friend. "I'm talking Hawaii. Fun, sun and surf, which is as far as you could get from your norm in my opinion."
"More like as far away as I could think while still speaking English," Baily admitted with a laugh. "Hawaii totally covers that, too." Plus, her getting out during a sunny day would probably do her some damn good.
"I think a change of scenery would do you good, Bai." Shiloh told her in a tone that was a little more on the serious side.
Baily nodded. "I could definitely stand a chance of scenery." She knew that she hadn't been herself lately at all. Maybe a trip to Hawaii would do her a lot of good.
"I make all the arrangements." Shiloh knew her friend well enough to know that if Baily had the chance to consider things she very well may have a change of mind. And Shiloh wasn't wanting to give her friend that option.
Baily gave her a nod. "Sounds like a plan," she said with a grin. This was definitely what she needed. A week on the beach sunning herself and not thinking of a damn thing other than where her Mai Tai was. Sounded perfect.
"When's the earliest you'd be able to get time off from your DJing gig here at Avarice?" Shiloh asked her. The sooner the better was her thought, but Shiloh didn't want to push things too much with Baily. She didn't want the other woman to feel that this was something she had to do, but rather something she wanted to do.
"Hmm...a week, maybe two?" She was pretty sure that Ben would give her some extra leeway, considering she was family and all. Plus, he was sensitive to what she was going through right now.
"Great." That grin of hers coming ever so easily as Shiloh spoke. "We leave a week from Saturday." That should give Baily enough time to arrange time off for this little talked about vacation. And Shiloh? Well she wasn't figuring she'd have any trouble gaining a little time off for herself as she had brought back talent from her extended scouting trip for Full Moon Records.
"Sounds awesome." If Baily thought about this too much, she might schedule herself an even longer trip. Damn if she didn't need it.
"I'll get you details in a day or two." Shiloh told her while waving a waitress over to order a second beer even though she was only partially done with her first one. This trip was coming in close quarters to the one she had just returned from, but at least this time Shiloh was going to be able to relax and enjoy herself instead of dedicated the majority of her time to her work.
