War Were Declared
Who: Eve and Kayla
Where: Saints & Sinners
When: Thursday Night, 3/10
Even though she was having to put on a nice face at work, Eve was, in a word, pissed off. She'd had to comfort Deanna after her rather disastrous meetings with both Kayla and Meredith. For two women who both claimed they loved Dee, they both sure had a fucked up way of showing it by constantly making her upset and cry. Personally, Eve hoped that Dee would grow to love her and fully move of from Kayla and Mere. She was more than happy to wait for her to become OK. However, with them continually fucking with her? Not so much with the happy. Right now she was giving a customer a lap dance, mainly trying to focus on work and not her continually unlucky love life.
Of course, tonight was the night that Kayla decided that she wanted to talk to Dee again. Little did she know that our favorite stripper wasn't working tonight, hm? She might have called Meredith and asked, but... frankly, she still wasn't overly fond of the other woman. Funnily enough, she'd always been jealous of the connection that she and Deanna had. Anyway. The Slayer made her way inside the club, dressed in low-slung jeans and a black corset, her mohawk styled to one side. … Yep. Noooo Dee as far as she could tell. Awesome.
Oh, as soon as Eve happened to scan the room and catch sight of Kayla, all thoughts of work ceased. She swung a leg right off of the lap that she had been dancing on and marched over to Kayla, still wearing her matching bra and panty set that left nothing to the imagination. "YOU...are not welcome here," Eve said straight to her. "Now do us both a favor and get the hell out."
While, yes, Eve was far older than her and likely had a few tricks up her sleeve, Kayla didn't budge an inch. "According to you, I'm not welcome. One owner seems to disagree, so no. Thank you. I think I'll stay." She tried for a sweet smile, but it came across as vaguely menacing more than anything.
Eve smiled and tilted her head. "One owner of the club, maybe." At least with Meredith, Eve knew that she would step back if Deanna decided that she wanted Eve instead. Plus, she probably hated Kayla just as much. "That owner isn't here tonight. The one who isn't so pleased with you IS, however. Shall I go get her?" Her smile faded. "Plus you upset the talent, here."
"Oh yeah. Big group pop-wow. I can see that ending well," Kayla replied darkly. She'd... remembered how well her conversation went with Deanna the night before, and assumed that's what Eve meant when she said she upset the talent. "I just came here to talk. No need to get your..." She looked down at what little Eve was wearing and grumbled, "terribly designed panties in a bunch."
"It would end fine for me," Eve said simply. "And my 'terribly designed panties' are worth more than you." She rolled her eyes. "Deanna's taken the night off to try and get over the mess you turned her into last night with your idiocy. What is with you ridiculous people and your inability to decide on one person to be with, anyway? Care to explain that when you're destroying the one human I've met in this wretched city worth taking care of?"
"This coming from a succubus who's had sex with how many people? And I know for a fact had sex with Ben and his wife just last month? That's a case of the pot calling the kettle black right there." Yep. Ben had told her about that. They'd become very … close, lately. "So get off your high horse. You're no better than me."
"Sex has nothing to do with what I'm talking about," Eve said, seeing that she was starting to hit a nerve. "Sex is mostly meaningless, Kayla, at least until you do it with someone you truly love. Now, how many in the past couple of months have you played with the hearts of?" Eve knew A LOT more about plenty of people in LA than she usually let on. "I can pick the one person I love and stay with and love them until the end of time. I literally worship the ground that Deanna walks on and would give her the world. What do you have to offer other than more heartbreak?"
"I'm stable now. I can be what she needs," Kayla replied. "See me not hitting you right now? Six months ago? Nothing would have stopped me." Well, maybe Gabriel... or someone stronger than she was, but that wasn't the point. "Hell, I might have enjoyed it. Point being, I'm stronger than I was before. I'm a better person than when I left. What about you, Eve? What can you possibly offer her that I can't?" Yep. She was starting to get herself riled up here.
"Someone who's always going to be stable for her," Eve said. "Someone who won't go crazy every time she has a bad day. Someone dependable. Are you always going to be dependable, Kayla? Or is something going to piss you off again and you'll walk around with a giant chip on your shoulder until you explode again? Gonna fuck your Watcher or Chloe Van Warren when things get you down?"
Kayla gave an almost imperceptible twitch then. Almost, but it was visible to those who knew to look for it. "You don't even know me, so don't start preaching at me, woman. Can you honestly tell me that you haven't made mistakes?" Not that she was calling Chloe or Gabriel a mistake, mind you. "That you haven't fallen for more than one person? What makes you so fucking perfect?"
Eve actually noticed the twitch. "I'm not perfect. I just know what Deanna needs, and it sure as hell isn't you. Every time you get someone, you seem to decide that the grass is greener on some other side. You can't just get her back because you suddenly think you're good for it again. Go find someone else's life to destroy already."
Kayla took in a breath and let it out slowly. No hitting, heh. Good for her. "If you thought it would be that easy to get rid of me, you're delirious. And... suddenly I'm thinking about taking your 'advice' and leaving. If I wanted to talk to you—actually, I don't ever want to talk to you, so, there we go. Whatever Dee decides, I'll respect, but that sure as HELL doesn't mean that I have to respect you. Or even like you."
"Feeling's mutual," Eve said with a smile. "So...are you leaving or what?" She was tired of this conversation.
Taking in another breath and letting it out slowly, Kayla gave Eve a good glare before turning and leaving.
