Making Things Clear
Who: Kate and Paige
Where: Avarice
When: Wednesday – AM, February 23rd
As she walked into Avarice, it was quickly apparent to anyone who knew her that Paige Bennett meant BUSINESS tonight. Why was that? Well, let's see. Tons of hot guys and girls on the dance floor? Check. White Zombie's "More Human Than Human" playing? Check. Paige? NOT DANCING. When Paige skips dancing to her favorite band? Yeah, you know the rest. The leggy, vampy demon prowled over to the bar, clad in her favorite barely-there denim cutoffs, black cowboy boots, and an old, skintight Motley Crue 'Dr. Feelgood' tee, that stupidly sexy grin firmly in place as she gave a scary little grin to Mia as the girl tried to take her order, just to scare the skittish tender away. Yes... Paige was here to see an altogether DIFFERENT bartender, thanks...
Clearly Kate had no idea what she was in for, huh? The leggy blonde was currently serving a couple of guys a few beers, playfully but politely telling them that no, she didn't bat for their team. Wearing something a little different tonight, she could hardly blame them for their persistence. She was clad in a tight black mini-skirt and a low-cut leather shirt that left VERY little to the imagination. Apparently she'd taken fashion tips from CJ, hm? Anyway... she got to Paige, all smiles, and asked: "What can I get for ya, good lookin'?"
Paige gave her a good once-over, and suddenly understood why Ginny got so... giggly over her. Damn. Anyway... she shook herself out of it and smirked, looking like some animal about to devour it's prey. "So... YOU'RE Kate, hm? Seen you a few times... but never had the pleasure of talking to you..."
"Well, now ya do," Kate replied, her smile faltering slightly. The look that Paige was giving her was kind of freaking her out a little, although she hid that well. "Don't have to ask who YOU are," she added. Being semi-famous had its privileges for Paige, hm? "Something tells me you're not here for a drink."
"Nope. I'm here because I understand that you're interested in taking my best friend out." Well, there was honesty, hm? "And quite honestly? I'm here to make sure I approve of you. Because frankly? Ginny's had a fucked-up life, and she has TOO good of a heart. And the last thing she needs is someone fucking her over again."
"Mia, could you take the bar for a minute, please?" Kate asked over her shoulder politely, before rounding the bar and taking Paige somewhere a little more private. Wow. There was a first. Ben's office used for something OTHER than sex. Gasp. Anyway... Shutting the door behind them, Kate turned toward Paige and crossed her arms under her breasts. "Alright. I can understand that. I don't plan to... fuck her over, so if there's anything you wanna say or ask, now's the time." Bold for someone who was actually shit-scared of Paige, huh?
"Fine. I'll just say it then. Ginny's got more issues than a god damn comic book store, ok? She's been used, abused, and left for dead. And you seem nice... but so help me GOD, woman..." Sickly? All of this was being said in a sultry, almost SEXY, tone. "If you make her so much as SNIFFLE IN SADNESS, I will break every bone in that hot little body of yours... and it will TURN ME ON."
Kate's eyes widened comically then, as she didn't doubt for a SECOND that Paige would do just that – with a smile on her face, too. Kate pursed her lips together. Despite how OBVIOUSLY afraid of Paige she was, she said: "You don't know me. If you did, you'd know that I'd sooner hurt myself then someone I cared about. I hope that one day Ginny will be able to tell me about the life she's had – and if she can't, then I'll respect that."
"Good girl. Also? Don't take this personally. Right now? Anyone who seems interested in Ginny's getting the same treatment. Ginny's been hurt enough. If it takes me being a bitch and a half to keep that from happening again? Then I'm glad to play the part." Her features softened a bit then, and she laughed. "For what it's worth, you seem like a decent chick."
"I can understand that. If she were my friend, I doubt I'd act any differently. 'Course, I can hold my own, but I doubt I'm in the same LEAGUE as you." Hey, may as well be honest, right? Kate's full lips curled into a sad little smirk. "She mentioned that she had... other people interested in her. I made it clear to her and I'll make it clear to you – whatever happens? I'm in it for the long haul, whether as a girlfriend or just a friend. I'm not goin' anywhere."
"Good. Because that's what she needs. People that care for her, and don't just fuck off on her if she can't give them what THEY want. I can be a fuckin' asshole at times..." Paige paused then, before being honest and rolling her eyes. "Ok, MOST of the time... but I'm damned protective of the few people I actually give a shit about."
That actually made Kate laugh. "Look, I like her. ...God knows that I've been dicked around by love. Well, not literally dicked... you know what I mean." Wow. Ramble, much? "I pride myself in being honest. It saves my heart that way," she added honestly. "So, I promise. Around me? She'll have no reason not to smile and be happy."
"Jesus, woman... just show that ass off a little and she'll be smilin' plenty, if I know Ginny." Hey, she knew Ginny's typical type, ok? Paige smirked and made NO attempt to hide the fact that she was checking the bartender out. "Hell, if it doesn't work out... you're MORE than welcome to come party with me and Lilly sometime."
"If it doesn't work out... and if you didn't scare me as much as you do," Kate admitted with a blush, getting the feeling that Paige could break her in HALF if she had a mind to.
"Now... get yer ass back out there before Mia hyperventilates or something. I swear that kid's an anxiety attack on legs. I swear her mother musta smoked crack while pregnant or something." Paige scoffed with a loud laugh. Hey... she admitted to being an asshole, ok?
"Give her some credit. She's a good kid," Kate replied, actually kind of protective there. "Alright. ...I guess I'll see you around. Keep in mind what I said, okay?"
"Will do. Just remember what *I* said." Paige smirked, rising to her feet with a serpentine grace. "Now.... I'm gonna go back to my place and do unspeakable things to my girlfriend. Keep THAT visual in yer head all day."
"Dammit," Kate muttered as she made her way out of the office, back out to the bar, knowing that that's EXACTLY what she was going to have in mind, whether she liked it or not.
