Making A New Friend
Who: Miranda and Naomi
Where: Regan High School, Quad
When: Wednesday 2/2, Lunch Time
Thankfully, Naomi had remembered to pack her lunch today, and had taken it out to eat on the quad instead of heading into the crowded cafeteria. Even if it was a little chilly for LA, wearing a slight jacket was more than enough to keep the cold at bay so that she could enjoy her meal of the sushi rolls that she had picked up on her way to school this morning. She was extra glad that she had spent extra money on the lunch thingie that kept her food nice and cold and kept her fish from getting hot and nasty. She opened up her soda and set it on the ground before starting to pick at her sushi, pouring some soy sauce on them before popping them into her mouth. Thank god for Slayer metabolism, or she might have to worry about sodium and bloating, eh?
"As if I have even an ounce of interest, ya over-sized ogre." Miranda voiced nowhere near subtle as she pushed her way past Tommy O'Roarke who tried blocking her way onto the quad to try and 'persuade' a date out of the red head. What was it with the football jocks there past few days anyway. The cafeteria was crowded as usual, and finding no sign of Clark in the lunchroom, Miranda was taking the assumption that he was off somewhere spending time with the girlfriend, Mir decided to take her lunch outside. Once past the jocks, Miranda stopped a moment to glance around to locate a place to sit and hopefully enjoy her lunch.
After the little 'incident' that her and Syndey had caused, the football jocks had actually been avoiding Naomi. Sure, she hadn't been the one to whip out the switchblade, but she had palled around with the girl who did, which was just as frightening in their eyes. When she saw Miranda coming out after dealing with them, she glanced back and saw Tommy coming out behind Miranda. With one nasty glare from Naomi, though, he turned tail and headed back inside. Better for him.
Miranda hadn't realized that she was being stalked from behind, all the red head knew was that some girl had sent a nasty little glare her way. Well, that was nowhere near nice as Miranda didn't know the girl anywhere near well nor remembered having had a bad encounter with her. Pushing back the hood of her hoodie from her head, Miranda, with bagged lunch in hand, started over toward Naomi. "Is there a problem?" The red head not being one to try and escape from a problem, but rather engage it if she felt there was no reason behind it. At least no logical reason.
"Other than one of the football jocks following you, no," Naomi said, pointing to the retreating back of Tommy. "Sorry if you thought that the look was at you. They're just well known for...well, being assholes, really."
"Hmm?" A faint line of confusion creased her features until Miranda glanced back just in time to note a retreating Tommy O'Roarke. "God," Miranda said with a roll of her eyes as she looked back to the other girl, "just because he digs red heads the immature oaf thinks all of us should fall at his feet, well actually into his bed, which I think is quite the disgusting thought. That's asshole football players for you." She added with a light shrug of her shoulders.
"They pretty much all think that they're god's gift to women in general," Naomi said with a slight snort. "Glad to see that some girls here also realize that they aren't worth the air they breathe." For some reason, the football players at Regan High School were almost all complete and utter jerks. Lovely.
"Some have the sense that God gave them." Miranda said in return. "And I think you and I top that list. Miranda." The red head smiled offering her hand to the other girl.
Naomi smirked at her when Miranda pointed out that the two of them were at the top of the list. "Naomi," he said, taking the other girl's hand and shaking it. "Wanna join me for lunch?"
"Sure. Why not." Miranda responded with a smile and light shrug. It was better then eating alone, and she definitely wasn't going to track back into the cafeteria and risk the chance of running into any of the football jocks. That would only further serve to ruin her appetite and have the red head dumping her lunch. Miranda dropped her sack lunch on the table and then sat down to join the other girl.
Naomi gave her a grin when Miranda sat down with her. Well, her lunch had gotten more interesting. "So, Miranda," she said, fishing an apple out of her bag. Had to keep her fuel good as a Slayer, right? "How do you like Regan High? You know, other than the asshole jocks?"
"Aside from the jocks and the stuck on themselves princesses, I'm finding I like Regan High." Miranda told the other girl while unpacking her lunch from the paper sack she had brought it to school in. "But then I guess all schools have their negative points." Which she found to hold much truth from the many times she had had to relocate due to her father being a military man, and herself a military brat.
"One of the negative points being the food," Naomi joked. "Always remember to pack your own lunch or you'll end up with a terrible case of indigestion." Or poisoning, if you weren't really careful. "But avoid the jocks and their hangers on and some of the people here are cool." She found Sydney and her barely contained angry activity to be neat, actually, and Phoebe was always awesome. Plus, Julian was cute and had that bad boy tinge and Brandie was just adorable.
"I've already learned how under talented the culinary staff here at Regan High really is." Miranda had made the mistake when she first transferred to the high school of actually eating something that the cafeteria had on its menu. That had been the first and last time she ate cafeteria food. "The coolest being one Clark Duquette." Miranda smiled not able to refrain from making mention of her bestest friend. And she had met Phoebe and felt the girl was pure awesomeness. Hey, anyone who could swing a bat the way that girl did AND had an appreciation of classic Belushi and Murray films was A-Okay in her book.
Naomi laughed. OK, the school cafeteria was overwhelmingly hated by the student (and teacher) populous. No one could really stand the food, but the cooks kept making it just the same year after year. Go figure. "Clark Duquette?" She knew of him, but she didn't really KNOW him very well.
"Yeah." Miranda responded and then went on to describe Clark in great detail. She was sure that even if Naomi didn't know the name she would surely remember the guy by description. In Miranda's eyes the boy was hardly one to miss or forget.
Naomi nodded when Miranda gave her description of Clark. "Sounds like a great guy," she said with a smile. Of course, she couldn't help but wonder if he was single.
"Dude is awesome." Miranda smiled brightly as she sang her best friend's praises. "A girl couldn't ask for a better best bud."
Naomi grinned. "Glad to hear that you've at least got one great friend here." Right now, she had a best friend, Julian, and Sydney...and maybe Miranda if things worked out well.
"Well, I hope I just increased that by one." Miranda said with a smile, and the hopefulness that it would indeed prove to be true.
Naomi gave her a slight smile. "I think you can count on that," she said with a nod.
