Going for Honesty
Who: Jodi and TJ
Where: TJ's place
When: Saturday, February 5th
After a … frankly Hellish night the night before, TJ decided to spend her Saturday at home alone... which was what she was doing now. She was dressed in boy-cut panties and a white see-through tank-top and kneeling on the floor, overlooking all of her old artwork... looking for something. She had bandages on her neck and back, but thankfully her parents weren't home last night when she finally made her way in, so she didn't get into trouble for breaking curfew. She simply told them that she'd had a fall on a friends skateboard when they asked about her neck the following morning. Apparently she was a good liar, who knew?
Unfortunately for her... this was the day Jodi had decided to surprise her with a morning visit. She'd had a HORRID first week at 'work', as most of the slayers already HATED her. Oh yeah, and Faith fucking SLAPPED her. Lovely. Knocking on the door, the little brunette practically WHINED. "TJ... pleeeeeease lemme in? I'm sore and tired and I think I reallllllly need cuddles..."
TJ smiled faintly at the sound of Jodi's voice and glanced up toward the direction of the door, she called: "It's open," but very softly for her.
When Jodi came in, dressed in baggy light blue jeans, a flannel shirt open over an Intangible Now t-shirt, and with her favorite newsboy cap on backwards, she straightened her glasses and EEPED as she saw the condition of her girlfriend. "Ohmygod... TJ! What... what happened to you? You look like death warmed over!"
"It's nothing to worry about," TJ murmured, sitting back to lean against the wall. She noted the bruise that was on Jodi's cheek and frowned faintly. "Did someone else hit you?... You'd think that wouldda healed by now otherwise."
"Oh. Um... yeah? Kinda? Nobody at school though. Trust me. It's a... work thing." She shook her head, frowning. "Now tell me what happened... you look pale, and judging from those bandages, I'm REALLY trying not to freak out."
TJ lowered her gaze and shook her head. "It's nothing. I'm just a stupid slut who should know better."
"Stupid sl..." She stopped herself, as she went a little green, feeling ill. "You... you didn't... please, TJ, tell me you didn't go and... you know... what we did... with someone else?"
TJ shook her head, yet still couldn't quite look Jodi in the eyes. "...Was going to. I told her to stop and she... she bit me. I've never been more terrified in my life." She added, quick to wipe the tears from her cheeks.
"Bit... oh my god... you almost cheated on me with a VAMPIRE?" She blurted out, squeaking as she realized how close she had likely come to losing TJ forever. "I'm so proud of you for... for NOT doing it... but how are you ALIVE?" And how did SHE know about vampires, hmmmm?
"I... get the impression that she wanted to keep me. Like a pet, y'know?" TJ muttered as she started rifling through her sketches again, only frowning after a moment when she realized something: "...How do you know about Vampires?"
"Oh god... again, it's a 'work' thing. We'll get back to that. Are YOU ok? And can you find this vampire again? Because I'm gonna make her about 39 types of DEAD." Aww... lookit little Jodi being all protective...
"Probably could..." TJ muttered, finally finding the sketch that she'd been looking for. A picture of a blonde woman... feasting on a faceless brunette (which she now sickeningly realized was her) , pinning her to a wall... She handed it to Jodi. "Look at the date." She'd sketched it over six months ago.
"......how did... I mean...." Jodi gulped, realizing that maybe she wasn't the ONLY one who had supernatural secrets, hm? "Ok... I... I think we REALLY need to talk. You up to it?"
"As much as I *can* be," TJ replied with a nod, actually daring to look at Jodi now, just feeling sick with guilt and disgust with herself.
"We promised each other honesty, right?" Jodi asked, sighing, and steeling herself for the reply to her next question. "How did you get yourself in position to be bitten? Did you... I mean... did you willingly intend on 'being with' her?"
"I... think so? I remember being attracted to her... but GOD there was some kind of pull. I can't explain it," TJ replied, worrying her lip between her teeth.
Other girls? Would have started a fight. Or broken up with her. Or SOMETHING. But poor Jodi? Was too insecure. She was stupidly in love with TJ already, and felt deep down that even if someone was gonna cheat on her... it was the best she could do. So she tried to hide the hurt on her face (unsuccessfully) and tried (also unsuccessfully) to mask the tears welling up as she changed the subject. "Well... we'll... we'll get you all better, then I'll talk to my boss and we'll find that bitch and DESTROY her."
"I'm not proud of myself," TJ muttered as she pulled her knees to her chest, hugging them. "I wish that I ... was better for you, y'know? I'm just... weak. I've always been weak."
"Just... just don't worry about it. It'll be ok. I promise." Aww. Poor Jodi... all she cared about right now was TJ's health. She could cry herself to sleep later, after this was all taken care of.
"...Funny thing is... I was always okay with that before. But now it just seems... empty. Shouldda figured that out sooner, huh?" She thunked her head back against the wall and tried to catch Jodi's eyes. "I'm sorry."
"Like I said. Don't worry about it...." Jodi said with a forced smile, not the type to toss her drama on anyone else. "I'm just glad you're ok. Stupid vampires... don't worry, I know some people to send after her."
TJ cupped Jodi's cheeks and looked into her eyes then. "You're amazing and I'm an idiot, okay?"
Jodi just gave her an adorable little smile and nodded. "Okay." She just wanted to keep TJ. Even if she felt like she'd never really be enough for her. "So... you wanna hear about my rockin' job or what?"
"Please? I feel like you've been holding out on me," TJ replied, giving Jodi a gentle little nudge.
"Wellll... there's a group of girls called Slayers. They pretty much exist to FIGHT things like vampires, demons, etc. and there's these people called Watchers, right? THEY'RE the ones who TRAIN the girls..." Hoooooo boy. Jodi was getting all giddy now. "And me? I'M the first and only official intern of the Watcher's Council. I help them and learn from them and one day? I'LL be one too."
"Fuckin' impressive, kid," TJ replied with an impressed nod. "So that's what you've been spending time doing after school lately, huh?" She'd noticed. Good.
"Uh-huh! And ok, so maybe one of the girls thought I was being annoying and sorta smacked me in the face... but I probably deserved it..." Oh my lord... poor thing was bullied so much that now when someone DID hit her? She generally figured she deserved it.
"What's her name?" TJ immediately asked. Sure, she'd likely get her ass BEAT if she went after the girl herself, but she DID know someone surprisingly strong now, didn't she?
"Like I'm gonna tell you that!" Jodi said with a lopsided grin. "She's like... Supergirl, TJ. She'd beat you to within an inch of your life with both hands tied behind her back."
"Who says that I'm gonna lift a finger against her, hm? Your friend Kir's weirdly strong. I bet she could hold her own against this girl easily enough."
"Ok, very true..." She said, babbling a little now. "But still! Faith was just mad. I was telling her what she was doing wrong when I probably didn't NEED to and I was just trying to look good for my boss and stuff just happened and she DID apologize!"
"... I still don't think she should have hit you. You had good intentions, y'know?" TJ sighed, wrapping an arm around Jodi to give her a side-hug.
"Please! You got BIT! I think a slap in my face is the least of our worries right now." Jodi pointed out, her common sense taking over. "Please don't get killed? I couldn't deal with that..."
"Yeah. I'm probably gonna become a hermit now," TJ admitted, ducking her head again.
"Just gives ya mooooore time to spend with me!" Jodi said with a little giggle, trying her best to make the other girl smile.
"Like that'd be a bad thing," TJ replied, smiling warmly.
"I mean... you know..." She said in a forced confident voice, "if I'm seriously what ya want... if not I understand..."
"You are," TJ replied, not even pausing for thought on that. "Can we start again? Forget the whole... me having a lapse of judgement?"
"Like I could ever let you go?" Jodi asked incredulously, as if that was the most ludicrous thought imaginable. "You're like... my dream girl, TJ. Haven't you realized that yet?"
"I ... sometimes I think that you could do better than me, y'know?" Well, it looked like TJ had no problem saying SOME things, hm?
"I don't think so..." Jodi shot back, looking a bit huffy now. "Even if I COULD... I don't want to. So there." Yep, that was her mature, thoughtful response. "So you're all weak now... can I like... sex you back to health?"
TJ let out a husky chuckle. "I'm not sure if that's possible... but like I'm gonna say 'no' to trying, right?"
"Fine." And look at that cheeky little grin! "Then lay back and relax, and let Dr. Hanson take care of ya..."
TJ laughed and leaned over to give Jodi a sweet kiss. "You got it."
