Sometimes You Just Gotta Make A Point
Who: Faith, Jodi and Giles
Where: The Hyperion
When: Wednesday, February 2nd
Faith had been in the middle of training with Giles (and didn't he ride her like a roller coaster while doing so) when he'd had to take a call and step out for a few minutes. Maybe if he did some literal winding he wouldn't be so wound up, huh? While Faith totally COULD help with that...no dice, so instead she was taking a break, doing some light stretching and trying to work some of the cramps out of her muscles while waiting for him to get back instead of the heavy duty shit he had wanted her to do.
Yeeeeep. Which meant? This WOULD be the point where little Jodi Hanson would come strolling in, glasses on the tip of her nose, newsboy cap turned backwards, tapping a pencil against a little notepad as she jotted something down. "Ms. Lehaaaaaaane..." She said with a little grin. "Aren't you supposed to be practicing with the bo staff and katana currently?"
OK, maybe Faith was out of the loop or something, but she had NO idea who the fuck this chick was. Also, probably being a good six inches taller than her, Faith gave her what might be construed as an evil grin. "Do I know you, pipsqueak?" she asked, not even referring to what she was supposed to be doing or not.
"I'm Jodi Hanson, official intern of the Watcher's Council of North America." The girl said, trying her DAMNEDEST to sound all professional and mature. "And you really should be training. I don't think Mr. Giles will be thrilled to hear you're disobeying him..." In other words? The Informer was gonna tattle.
Faith still grinned at the girl as she started to circle her. "So, you're an intern, huh?" she asked. "Well, let me EXPLAIN something to you. Giles knows me, and knows how I work. You, however, do not. No little kid is going to tell me how to do MY job, I don't give a shit WHO you think you are. Kapiche?"
Yeah yeah. Kayla had tried to intimidate her, too. No way. "Well. Threatening me certainly won't help. In fact, if you spent less time being a bully and more time trying to get your techniques down, you would have enough energy by now to not NEED these little stolen breaks."
"Lookit that...shortie's got a mouth on her," Faith said. Then, out of left field, came a hard slap (she knew that punching her might actually thrown her little block off) that knocked her to the ground. "Think I might of just busted it." She laughed. "I don't make threats, sweetie. If anything, I make promises, and I ALWAYS keep my promises."
Oh.... HELL. Hitting the ground, Jodi felt the tears welling up, threatening to spill over, but did her BEST to remain calm and mature. "I'm telling Mr. Giles!" She yelled. Sigh. So much for calm and mature. "That hurt SO FREAKIN' BAD! Why would you HIT me?"
"GILES! I hit a bitch talking smack at me!" Faith called out loud enough so that people in the next TIME ZONE could probably hear. "And sometimes a bitchsmack teaches you what you can and can't say to people. Trust me. I got the ability to do a lot worse. You keep talking shit at people here and they might not hold back like I did. Gotta learn your place here, pixie. You're bottom of the totem pole. Don't go running around on a power trip. Not good for your face."
"You're... you're MEAN." Jodi said, still a bit in shock, as she picked up her little notepad and started to walk away, still tenderly rubbing her cheek. She did, however, stop long enough to write one more thing down: 'Wow... when Barnes' reaction is the NICE one? Something is wronnnnng'
Faith cracked up. "What...that wasn't in my FILE?" she teased, calling after the other girl. At least Giles knew what he had been getting when he first came up to Faith. This girl apparently had NO idea what she was in for.
Giles came walking in then, clearly looking agitated, as he was cleaning his glasses, which he usually did when annoyed, agitated, or embarrassed. "What the..." he started, before seeing Jodi walking away, her cheek red. "Ms. Hanson... please... please come back here..." He looked at Faith, a look that while not MAD, clearly said 'you know better than this'. "Faith... I understand Ms. Hanson may be a little... bossy... but she's merely trying to make herself more knowledgeable while making you all better slayers. This might not... be the best WAY of doing so... but I don't ever want to hear of you or anyone else striking her again." So he'd heard of how she was bullied in school, ok? He didn't want her having to go through it here as well.
If Faith had known that the girl got bullied in school, Faith might have at least not popped her. Seriously. But she didn't. "Well, then you might want her to work on her bedside manner," she pointed out. "Sorry for hitting you, kid, but walking in here and bitching at me for taking a quickie break is fuckin' rude and ain't gonna work on me or anyone else." She gave a look at Giles. "If she does that shit to Candie, she'll fucking KILL her and you know it."
Jodi made another quick note: 'on possible chance of death, do NOT attempt to correct Ms. Harrington! Ever!' She then looked at Faith and tried to give a friendly smile... although it came off looking as scared and hurt as she felt. "It's... alright, Ms. Lehane. I... I'll be off now." She muttered, and skittered away quickly. Giles sighed, crossing his arms. "Faith. Honestly."
"Was never known for my even keel of a temper, Giles," Faith pointed out with a shrug. "I said I was sorry and I meant it. Won't happen again. Has KAYLA not bitch smacked her yet? Thank GOD Gwen's in Vegas. She'd have at least verbally tormented her." And Candi would mutilate her and ENJOY it. "Seriously. Did you hire her? Why was I not even told some little kid was gonna be coming in here and correcting me on shit? Might have handled it better if someone sent me a memo." True there...
"Bringing Ms. Hanson on board was... Ms. Delallo's call. She convinced me that the girl could offer a lot as she got older, and seemed to genuinely WANT to be a watcher." He said, as somehow... this all sounded less stupid in his HEAD.
"So...you guys brought in someone with all the innocence of Hope but with all of the ability to communicate with people of Andrew? And didn't let anyone know she was coming?" Faith arched an eyebrow at him, reaching her arms and stretching them over her head and then lacing her fingers and resting her hands on her head. "You guys gotta start a school for Watchers before letting the kids wander around us, yo." Which actually wasn't a completely shitty idea. You know, like they used to have.
Was anything REALLY funnier than watching Giles flail when he KNEW he was wrong? Not really, no. "Well... I... I suppose you aren't entirely wrong there... but... it... just... get.... get back to your training!"
She snorted, knowing that she had caught him in a bind. "Yes, sir," she said with a slight salute. "You know, you're all extra hot when you're demanding like that." You know, just to add for that extra flail.
