Music Talk
Who: Emmy and Hanna
Where: Shattered Records
When: Tuesday, February 1st
Emmy was in a surprisingly cheerful mood today... actually, it might have been the last few days, come to think of it. Sex? Really did wonders for the girl. She was currently dressed in tight black jeans with rips across the thighs, red sneakers and a tight white t-shirt that had 'Frankie Says Relax' printed across the breast. Why? Because it amused her. STFU. The petite blonde tied her wavy hair back in a haphazard ponytail and winked cheekily at Crystal as she passed before moving over to rearrange the pop section. It seems that someone forgot what the alphabet was...
Hanna had come into Shattered Records in an effort to find some knew stuff to spin at Eden. Sure, she could stick to the basics of 'all goth, all the time plus throwing in anything on Full Moon Records but Haylee James,' but that was just downright dull, and Hanna was anything but into dull stuff. Walking inside, she walked right up to Emmy (she had been here before, so she knew who worked here), and said, "LOVE the shirt. You got anything new that would work for me to spin at Eden?"
"Maybe?" Emmy asked with a faint blush, dropping what she was doing for a moment to lead Hanna over to the proper section. "New... relatively, but since I haven't heard you play them... or recommended them, I'll toss a couple at you that are a little older." Could you tell that she just loved music? "I'm kinda digging Placebo's new album. Avenged Sevenfold are pretty good... maybe a little too metal, though." She rattled off roughly a dozen more bands before stopping and blushing again: "You should probably tell me to stop talking. I could go on for a while."
Hanna followed her over to the right section. "Hey, I don't mind playing a little bit of metal. Might shock the goths into wearing something other than black and mixing in dark red and purple when they want to 'mix it up!'" Really, how did a fairly happy go lucky girl end up DJing at Eden? Anyone know this? "Feel free to go on forever." Emmy was definitely cute, OK? Hanna didn't mind listening to (and watching) her talk.
"If you really wanna mix them up, you should play PJ Harvey's new album." She smirked. "Or Johnny Cash's. He does a brilliant cover of U2's 'One'. Plus, depressing, so the goth's should dig it." She laughed. A strangely rare sound, coming from her. "But my tastes are pretty eclectic, so I'm not sure if I'm a hindrance or a help at this point," she admitted with a faint blush. Yeah, we all know that brunette's are her type. Moving on.
She wasn't too sure about playing PJ Harvey, but some Johnny Cash really wasn't a bad idea, since his cover of 'One,' which she had heard, probably would fit the mood pretty well. "I'll definitely think about both," she said with a grin. "Definitely not a hindrance at all." The goths needed some variety in their lives.
"Thanks. I try," Emmy smirked. "I'll ask. What bands do you typically play, or go back to? It might help to narrow down my field a little." Plus, any reason to keep a fellow music lover around, right?
"Right now I'm playing a lot of Suicide Messiah and Coma White," Hanna admitted. Was it possibly because both of the lead singers were hot? It helped, but they also played really great songs. Had to love that.
"God, I love them both. I'm... fairly certain that Rachelle, from Suicide Messiah, hit on me the last time she came in... Well, okay. She was pretty blatant about it, actually," she admitted. "Her wife owns this place, so I'm sure she was just messing with me." Anyway... "Hole's pretty good. Manson's always a place to go to, too. Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir... maybe Eternal Embrace... they seem more Pop to me, though."
"You do realize they have like, free ass passes or something, right?" Yeah, word had spread to Eden staff about those. Musician talk didn't exactly stay secret for long. Most of LA's music scene at least knew about those. "It may have been serious." No real matter, though, right? "I play a decent bit of Manson, but the others are probably a good thing to add. I get requests for Eternal Embrace. They aren't too bad." It was usually the younger goth kids who asked for them, at least. "The only one I won't play from Full Moon Records is Haylee James, you know, for obvious reasons."
"She might have been," Emmy shrugged. Clearly it wasn't an offer that she was going to take up on, huh? "Haylee James... She's okay but definitely not what you'd play there, that's for sure. It's strange that Bale added her to the family... but I guess she sells records, right?"
Hanna simply shrugged. Who really knew what was going through Rachelle's head, after all. No matter. "I don't get it, either, but maybe they wanted to get someone that was already established on there. Or maybe it's because he's with the singer for Suicide Messiah's brother now. No telling."
Emmy chuckled. "Anyway. I've probably taken up enough of your time as it is. Help yourself to one of the listening booths, okay? Take as much time as you need. I'll... still be around for a while yet, if you need anything."
Hanna nodded, taking the advised CDs. "No problem taking up my time. You know I always love talking music with you." She really did. There really weren't that many people running around knowledgeable in good music, you know?
Very true. Emmy? Loved talking music, after all. She might have admitted that that was the highlight of her day if it didn't sound so utterly sad. "Me too," she said instead. "Like I said, I'll be around."
Hanna gave her a nod and headed into the booth with her stack of CDs. This was going to be fun.
