Trying to Explain Valentine's Day to a Mergirl Who: Remmie and Donovan Where: Frank's Beach House When: Friday - January 28
Even though the school day had seemed even longer than usual, Donovan couldn't help but not only feel UN-tired, but possibly more energetic than ever. While he'd had classes all day followed by football practice, all he could think of now, as he arrived at the beach house, was seeing Remmie. Because today? He was planning on explaining Valentine's Day to her. Yes, explaining it. When he'd briefly mentioned it to her on the phone, she had no idea what he was talking about. Jeez... did they have ANY holidays in France? Anyway, he cleared his throat and rang the doorbell, straightening his t-shirt a bit.
When the bell sounded Remmie had been perched in a chair in the kitchen trying to work on her homework assignments given out for the weekend. Happy for a brief respite from the school work the teen smiled getting up from the table and practically skipped her way from the kitchen to the front door. "Donovan." Her smile brightening when she opened the door to find her boyfriend standing on the other side.
"Hey, sexy..." He said with an impish grin, rubbing the back of his neck. "So... um... I figured I'd stop by, kind of explain the whole Valentine's Day thing to you. See if it, you know... interested you at all."
Her smile widened further brightening the teens whole face when Donovan spoke, and Remmie went with her impulse stepping forward to kiss the boy standing just on the other side of the open doorway. "I am interested." She said stepping back with that broad smile of hers lingering.
"Good..." He took a step into the house, looking around a little. "Is it ok if I hang out here for a while? I'd kinda like to talk about this stuff in private, rather than take you someplace where people could hear us." He didn't want others to hear her not knowing about these things, for fear that they would mock her, leading to him punching them. See? THOUGHTFUL!
"Yes," Her smile fading slightly as Remmie reached for his hand. "Sometimes my manners are not so good." The teen seemed to apologize for her lack of thoughtfulness as she lead Donovan into the house and toward the kitchen after closing the door.
"Not really what I meant." He sighed, deciding to try explaining his thoughts to her. "I really care about you, Remmie. And people around here... can be kind of shitheads. And if anyone made fun of you, or said something mean, I'd probably kick their ass."
"I care about you too, Donovan." Her face brightening once more with her smile. And for the most part the students at Regan High were nice, or at least cordial to Remmie, and the small percent that weren't. Well, the teen really didn't want to get into talking about them.
"So..." he took her hands in his own, smiling, as he tried to think of a way to explain this all and not have it seem lame. "You wanted me to explain Valentine's Day to you. And... not to sound like a total tool, but I actually stayed up half the night yesterday making sure I thought of a way to make it sound perfect for you."
"It's the day where you give me jewelry and candy, yes." Remmie smiled brightly up to her boyfriend. The teen mergirl had gotten that message loud and clear from the commercials they were started to show on television for the upcoming holiday.
"Well... ok... that's PART of it." He laughed, trying to get this just right. "It's... it's considered a holiday, but the main thing it's for is spending time with the person you love. Showing them how much they mean to you. I wanna show you how much you mean to me. I'm hoping that when this is over... you'll finally understand JUST how special you are to me." He looked into her eyes, pulling her softly in for a hug. "I'm totally in love with you, Remmie."
"It's a day for getting lucky?" The blonde's smile seeming to brighten at just that thought. Being with Donovan was better then the mergirl had ever thought it would be. "I love you too, Donovan." She managed to whisper when he drew her into a hug. He gave her feelings that she had never experienced with a member of the opposite sex before. "And I want to do something special for you on this Valentine's Day people here celebrate." Remmie said thinking she was finally grasping the whole spirit of Valentine's Day.
"You do, hm?" He asked, finding it kind of adorable how eager she seemed to do something special for HIM. Maybe that was part of his draw to her: she made him feel special. Not in that 'popular jock' way that the girls at school tried to make him feel... but as a good, decent human being.
"Isn't that what the day is about?" The teen questioned with a furrowing of her brow thinking for a moment she had gotten the whole aspect of the day wrong. She tried her best to assimilate herself into human society, but the mergirl still got some things and practices in the humans world wrong.
"Yeah, it is. That was..." he thought about his words here. "That was me being flirty. Like... I was just trying to get you to tell me what you wanna do for me."
"Oh." Remmie smiled sheepishly then. She wanted to do something she thought was special for Donovan, but at the moment she had no thoughts on just what that would be. Maybe she could consult Frank about it. He was a male too and would know what he'd like a woman to do for him. "Can I surprise you?" Cause guys liked that, didn't they was her thought.
"I like surprises..." He admitted, laughing, finding her enthusiasm for everything just... infectious. "Plus, I'm starting to think that I'd have a hard time EVER telling you 'no'."
"Would that be a bad thing?" She questioned. Remmie then took the bold move and kissed him with her hand smoothing around to the nape of his neck.
He was going to answer. Really. And it would have been a good comeback. BUT. That kiss? Kind of knocked the wind out of him in all the best ways. "Wow..." he said breathlessly, his hands going to her waist eagerly. "Um... are we... you know... alone?"
A soft smile curved then. "Yes." She told him softly. And though she couldn't guarantee it, Frank more often then not came home from the hospital in the evening sometime. Usually just in time for dinner. "Frank is still at the hospital." The petite blond shared.
"Wanna go to your room? And, um..." He gave a hilariously sweet smile there, winking at her. "You know... 'get lucky'?"
Remmie didn't answer him verbally. The teen simply reached for his hand with a big ole smile and started with hurried steps to take him up to her room. 'Getting lucky' with Donovan topped the mergirl's list of favorite things to do with her boyfriend.
