Trusting Each Other
Who: Janna and Fred
Where: Dana Point Guest Suites
When: Friday, January 21
"I never thought I'd actually find enjoyment in watching a group of whales from a boat." Janna commented to her companion as she slipped the key card into the lock to open the door of the suite she had reserved for herself and Fred for the evening. The whole day had been planned without Fred having a clue to where Janna was going to take her. All the other woman knew was that she was going to be spending most of the day with Janna. With the door open, Janna grabbed their overnight bags, and after letting her date enter first she followed Fred in and closed the door behind them.
"I find them utterly fascinating," Fred replied as she stepped inside, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt that had an owl with glasses on it. "And the whale song is just... indescribably beautiful. Thank you for takin' me," she added, even though she'd probably said that several times already. She turned and smiled warmly at Janna before moving around the room, eyes widening. "You... really didn't have to do all of this."
Janna set their bags down by the door while watching Fred enter the room. "I know I didn't have to," the dark haired were smiled back, "but I wanted to." She stated walking slowly toward the other girl as Fred moved to investigate the room a bit more closely. "I want to show you just how much you've come to mean to me." Stepping up behind the other woman, Janna eased her arms around Fred's waist with a kiss given to her neck.
Fred's smile fluttered as she found herself wondering (not for the first time) if this was some elaborate ruse that her mind made up to deal with being a slave. She quickly remembered what Gunn had said when she first arrived in LA and relaxed back into Janna, placing her hands over the other woman's. "Well, in that case... Thank you. You've come to mean a lot to me, as well."
Janna smiled against the curve of the other woman's neck hearing that. "So, what would you like to do first." Janna was quite content at the moment to stay as they were, but this night wasn't all about her. The way the werewolf viewed it if you found yourself starting to care for someone what they thought or wanted mattered and everything stopped being about yourself. "We have a spa to make use of. A fireplace to cuddle up in front of," Janna stroked lightly at Fred's hair as she started listing the higher points of the room the were going to be sharing for the night. "We can snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie or see if we can have room service bring us up dinner to have out on the patio."
"It all sounds perfect," Fred murmured. Still in Janna's grasp, she slowly turned to face the other woman and set her hands on her shoulders. "I've... kind of developed a bit of an appetite," she admitted with a faint blush, since people didn't have to know Fred for long to notice that she ate a lot. "Not just for food," she added before leaning forward slightly and placing her lips to Janna's.
Janna indulged in that kiss for a long moment before she spoke. "Then we'll dine on the patio and have dessert in front of a blazing fire." She murmured softly against those soft, delicious lips of the other girl with her arms fitting a bit snugger around Fred's waist. Yes this night was taking the course Janna hoped it would and her and Fred being together again would be more pleasurable then their first time on the beach.
"You're quite the romantic," Fred noted with a small, warm smile. It had been some time since anyone had treated her with any amount of kindness (romantically speaking, of course) and right now, at that moment, it almost felt as natural as breathing to her. "But yes, let's do that." She placed a palm to Janna' s cheek and kissed her longingly.
"Any preferences or should I just order for the both of us." Janna smiled catching Fred's eyes and drawing the woman in a little bit closer.
"You can order for the both of us. ...As you've probably noticed by now, I'll basically eat anything that's put in front of me," Fred giggled. Being a slave forced to eat sludge for five years, Fred really did enjoy the smaller things that life had to offer that some people took for granted, sadly.
"Okay." Janna kissed the lovely girl once more. "If you'll be a dear and put our bags in the bedroom I'll take care of ordering dinner." She smiled softly reluctantly withdrawing her arms from around the other woman with the consoling thought that she'd have Fred back within her arms soon enough.
"Sure," Fred replied, smiling warmly. She collected their bags by the door and quickly located the bedroom, her eyes widening at the sight before her. "Wow," she murmured as she set the bags down at the foot of the bed. "Did you have any idea how big this room was when you booked it? It's... three times bigger than mine at home. I'm not exaggeratin'!"
"I had somewhat of an idea." Janna confessed stepping over to the phone. "Just gives us more room to play in." Janna teased picking up the phone to order their dinner.
Fred was about to add something there... but fell silent when Janna mentioned playing and sucked her lip between her teeth. Hrmh. It still seemed that there was one subject that our favorite Texan still blushed about. She moved over to the window and gaped at the view. This was all just... staggeringly beautiful.
After ordering them filet mignon and lobster and bottle of wine, Janna stepped over to Fred slipping her arms around the girl again and set her chin on her shoulder as she looked out at the view Fred seemed captivated by. "Never seen anything with such beauty." Janna murmured softly.
"I never thought that I would again," Fred breathed with a sad smile, realizing that she'd never really brought up her past before. Not even with Maddie or Gunn. It... just hurt too much to think about it. She gently grasped one of Janna's forearms and caught her reflection in the window. "Long story."
"We've got time." Janna wasn't going to push her, but she did want Fred to feel comfortable enough to share whatever it was she was holding back. It would be at least fifteen minutes before their dinner was brought up to the room.
Fred sighed and turned around in Janna's embrace again, meeting the other woman's eyes. "I guess... it really depends on what you believe in. I don't want you thinkin' that I'm crazy, even though for a long time I thought I was." She broke out of Janna's grasp and started to pace. "Do you believe in the supernatural? Universes parallel to our own?"
"Yeah I do." Maybe not so much alternate worlds, but Janna had never considered Fred the crazy or not in her right mind type. And as for believing in the supernatural, well there was no debate in that as Janna was living proof it existed. Taking a couple steps, Janna caught the pacing Fred's hand to try and stop her from walking back and forth. "Hey. We all have our secrets and nothing you tell me will change what I feel for you." Janna told her with a reassuring smile.
"Sorry. Just thinkin' about it makes my tummy all rumbly," Fred replied, her accent coming out a little thicker than usual. She gave Janna's hand a squeeze and took a few stabilizing breaths. "Roughly five years ago I was... I was just a physics student, but then I found a book and I read from it aloud... I was always very curious... an' suddenly I'm in a whole different world where the... demons there treat humans like cattle. Literally. They actually had shock collars." She placed a hand to her neck.
"After a while I figured out how to disable mine, but five years. I was there. A fugitive. Starving. I somehow managed to come back... half-mad, but... I still dream about that place." She smiled weakly. "Sometimes I find myself thinkin' that I dreamed you up, that I'm still there, but as smart as I am I don't think that I could make you up." She stopped then, as if remembering how to breath.
"I can assure you that I am anything but a dream." Janna said hands moving to the other woman's hips to turn her slowly so that Fred was now facing her. "You're safe now," tucking loose strands behind the brunette's ear, "and I am very real." And as if feeling the need to prove such to the girl, Janna leaned in to kiss Fred in a way she thought the girl had never been kissed before.
Fred whimpered into the kiss and brought her hands up to tangle into Janna's hair, drawing it out for as long as possible, only stopping when oxygen became an issue. She pulled back slightly. "Mm, yes. Very real." She giggled sweetly. "An' now you know why I'm so neurotic."
"I kind of get that." Janna smiled back. "And I'm sure you'll get over that in time. Cause I'm sure as hell going to try and make sure that happens. Bring you back to the kind of life you had before you tumbled into that other world." Janna then pressed a tender kiss to Fred's forehead.
Fred giggled sweetly, sniffling a little and trying to hold back the tears. God, she felt like a little girl then. If only she still had her stuffed bunny, Feigenbaum... "You have no idea how glad I am that we met," she whimpered.
"I think I'm the lucky one." Janna said kissing the girl once more before pulling Fred into an embrace and gently stroking her hair. Janna could tell emotions were filling the girl and she wanted Fred to feel she could release all she was holding back should she choose to.
"These're happy tears," Fred murmured with a faint chuckle as she wrapped her arms around Janna and breathed her in. "I promise," she added, pulling back a little to give Janna an honest smile. Before the moment could get an sweeter, there came a knock at the door and a male voice saying: 'Room service'.
"As long as they're happy tears." Janna smiled back brushing away the couple that had managed to slip out. "Looks like dinner has arrived." Stepping away from the other woman Janna got a few bills from her wallet before continuing on toward the door. Paying the man and giving him a nice tip, Janna rolled the cart into their suite and closed the door.
Fred wiped the tears from her cheeks and located a maroon knitted jumper from her overnight bag, figuring the ocean breeze on the patio would be a little... brisk. "What did you order for us," she asked, silently amazed with Janna right now. She had taken the whole 'parallel universe' thing better than Fred had expected, after all.
"Filet mignon, lobster and wine." Janna answered wheeling the food cart over to the sliding patio doors. While she hadn't any evidence that parallel universes actually existed, Janna had accepted what Fred had told her as she found what Fred told her to be believable, and she hadn't sensed in the slightest that the woman was telling her anything but the truth. Besides, Janna had her own little supernatural tale to tell and hoped Fred wouldn't turn her back on her once she learned what Janna was.
Fred opened the patio doors up, making it easier for Janna to transfer the food, and smiled at the woman, trying to help her without really being in the way. "Wow. Well, I can tell you right now, it smells absolutely mouthwatering." As for Fred turning her back on Janna? It was doubtful that Janna could do anything right now to make Fred do such a thing.
"Then I'm sure you'll enjoy it like everything else tonight." Janna smiled wheeling the cart out onto the patio and then moved the covered trays, utensils they might need and bottle of wine onto the table. With the table set, Janna took a seat at the patio table.
Fred smiled warmly and took a seat as well, just... letting Janna take the lead. "Can I ask why you decided to take me out to see whales? Not that I'm complainin', mind you," she was quick to add. "It's just not what a girl would expect for a date," she explained, hoping that it wouldn't come across as rude.
"I wanted to do something different and special for our first date." Janna confessed. "Would you have rather done something else?" Janna questioned hoping Fred hadn't been too disappointed with their first official date.
"No," Fred was quick to say. "I'm... really startin' think that I sound like a broken record, but: it was perfect. I cannot thank you enough," she said sincerely, smiling warmly before finally uncovering her meal.
Janna listened to Fred as she filled each of their glasses half way with wine, she then uncovered her own meal. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself." Janna said smiling across the table to her date. "I promise though that next date will be a little more traditional."
"Maybe I could arrange the date next time?" Fred asked with a raised eyebrow. She'd let Janna take the reigns thus far but she'd like to do something similar for Janna, at the very least to express how much she appreciated the other woman. "It probably won't be as extravagant, but... I'd still like t'do something for you."
"I think I'd like that." Janna smiled over to the woman. "Sometimes the simplest things are the best." She didn't want Fred feeling she needed to outdo her. A simple home cooked meal would suit Janna just fine. It wasn't what was done that matter, but who she spent the time with on a date.
"Oh, I don't disagree," Fred murmured as she started on her meal, carving a piece of her filet mignon and eating it slowly, savoring the taste. "You should meet my housemate and her boyfriend. They're ver' nice," she added with a small smile. She still hadn't told her parents that she was alive... but now that she'd found her place in the world, maybe it was time to call home, hrmh?
"I'd like to meet them sometime." Janna conceded. Especially if they were the people her Fred was living with. Anyone a part of the other woman's life now became part of Janna's life. Though she enjoyed having Fred all to herself, Janna wasn't about to try and cut the woman off from those she considered her friends.
Continuing with her meal, Fred eyed Janna curiously, trying to figure the other woman out. She'd been very possessive of Fred, but hadn't really offered anything (beyond the physical) of herself in return, which made Fred curious. "If you'd be willin'. I'd like to meet the people important to you, as well."
"Only family I have here in my brother, Jaycen." Janna told her as she started in on her own meal after taking a sip of her wine. "I think you'd like him." And she definitely wanted them to meet. Janna didn't want to keep things from Fred concerning her life. Which is what brought her to her next question. "What do you know about the supernatural, Fred. Beyond the alternate world you were thrown into."
Fred speared a carrot and chewed it thoughtfully, "I know about demons, vampires, shape-shifters ... clairvoyants and everythin' in between. Well, not as much as I'd like, but I know of them." She speared another vegetable and chewed it thoughtfully. "Why'd you ask?"
"What about werewolves." Janna set her fork down to rest against the edge of her plate and reached for her glass to indulge in a bit more of the wine.
"I know about werewolves about as much as I know about everyhin' else that I mentioned," Fred murmured. She stopped eating for a moment and took a sip of her wine, as well. "I know that they exist, but not specifics." She narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. "Why?"
"There are two kinds," Janna started with the setting down of her glass, "those that are bitten and those that are born. I fall into the latter group." With Fred having be so open about what had happened to her, Janna wanted to return that same bit of trust.
Fred tilted her head to one side thoughtfully. "...Might I ask what makes them different?" She asked curiously, not wanting to make any assumptions. Janna had accepted her history, after all. It was only fair that Fred did the same.
Janna thought on that a moment to try and get the right words to explain as best she could how bittens differed from the borns. "We both have no choice but to change with the full moon, though bittens have a harder time with things and no control over their wild side. Borns on the other hand grow up learning and being guided on how to handle the change every month. They also have a second form they can take."
"...Wow," Fred breathed, just taking a moment to process that. She cut up a piece of mignon and chewed it thoughtfully. "If you'd be willin', I'd like t'see the change sometime."... Her mind worked fast.
"You really are an exception, Fred." Janna smiled softly to the woman. While most, and not that Janna revealed to all that many people just what she was, would be curious about the werewolf thing. They wouldn't necessarily be intrigued enough to want to witness the change after first learning about what Janna was.
"...You've given me no reason to be afraid of you," Fred replied as she continued her meal. She really WAS a hungry little thing, after all. She was also hard to frighten off. "And more than that, I trust you."
"I trust you too, Fred." Janna said in response offering another smile to the woman. And it was due to that trust that Janna had willingly shared her secret with Fred. They seemed to have a bond that connected them after that first night they shared there on the beach. Janna watched the other woman with a lingering gaze a moment longer before she started in on her own meal again.
