Jumping the Gun a *Tiny* Bit
Who: Iris and Jeremy
Where: Iris and Jeremy's Home
When: Jan 24th, Evening
Iris was sitting on the sofa in her living room, flipping through a book with her feet folded underneath her, wearing an oversized white sweater and jeans with bare feet. The book that she was flipping through was one that she had picked up from her work, some new murder mystery where the killer was painfully obvious to her even though she was only about a quarter of the way through it. Still, it was a way to pass the time, so it would do for now. Not like she had much else to do at the moment.
The door slamming JUST a bit too hard behind him (which actually made him shudder, as he hadn't realized how hard he had closed it), Jeremy shuffled sluggishly in, practically falling into a sitting position next to Iris, leaning against her. "I require hugs. And kisses. And possibly the heart paddles."
She had lifted her eyes up from her book as soon as he had walked in, marking her spot and setting it aside, then wrapping her arms around him after he sat down onto the sofa. "What's wrong? Trouble at work?" she asked, stroking his hair.
"Where... the HELL... does Catherine get all her energy?" He laughed, shaking his head. "Lately, I've barely been able to keep up with her. And she's gotten... really aggressive. Not in a bad way, per se... but just... really unlike her."
She arched an eyebrow at him. "That so?" she asked. Usually, Catherine seemed more determined and put together. "Everything OK with her right now, like personal wise?"
"I don't know. She insists everything's fantastic, but won't really... go into any of it. She did accidentally give me a pretty thorough ass-kicking today though..." yeah... sparring with an aggressive slayer? Never fun.
Iris couldn't help but chuckle at the image. "What did she do exactly today?" Catherine had developed what was usually good control over herself, but apparently tonight it had gotten out of hand.
"Let's see: judo flips, grappling lessons..." he laughed, snuggling into her. "You can do the math. Anyway. How are YOU?"
Iris laughed. "I can put it together," she told him. "My day was fine. Not *nearly* as exciting as yours, obviously, but I don't have a college girl to flip me around."
"Oh, har har." He smirked, rolling his eyes. "What can I say... when I have someone looking like you waiting for me? I don't exactly notice other women." Sadly enough, that was true. Jeremy was so completely head over heels for Iris that he honestly barely registered other women, no matter what they looked like.
"Don't notice them enough to get beat up by them?" Iris joked. "Ok, no more making fun of you, I promise. You just shouldn't set me up like that," she told him playfully. She leaned her head against his chest.
"Fine, fine. I'm all loyal and dedicated to you, and this is what I get in return." He said, playfully, kissing the top of her head. "Mean, cold woman..."
She brushed a bit of his hair behind his ear. "You know I love you, too, Jeremy," she pointed out to him. This was why that, honestly, the idea of Iris cheating on his was so ridiculous. She was incredibly in love with Jeremy as well.
"Mind if I'm... really random and spontaneous about something here?" He asked, raising a dark eyebrow to her, looking into those eyes that always made him weak in the knees.
She lifted her head up so that she could look at him a little bit better. "Sure, go for it," she said to him playfully.
"I... I'd be stupid if I didn't notice all the stuff going on with your friend Pat. And all I could think of was... I *have* you, right now, and I keep putting my job ahead of everything. I want to stop that, right now.... and the first step? I want to marry you. This week. We can go and elope. If you want a big wedding, we can have one afterward with everyone you want there."
She grinned at him, getting up and crawling onto his lap. "We can do a big wedding later," she said to him. She was sure that her family would like to watch her get married again, but she was ready to be Jeremy's WIFE, not just his fiance, after all. "Wanna book a hotel in Vegas then?"
"Exactly what I was thinking. Isn't your friend Gwen living there now? We could always stop and visit her and Wesley..." He figured she'd like the idea... but her enthusiasm here? Was surprising. Maybe he didn't quite think as highly of himself as she did?
"Yeah, they're both there," she said to him with a smile, leaning forward and kissing him on the lips again. "I'm sure we can see them at some point." Catching up with old friends wasn't what she had in mind while she was in Vegas, though.
"I'm sorry, Iris. For ever making you feel like you weren't the best thing in my life. It took seeing someone we know lose everything..." he sighed, taking her hand, "But from this point on, I'm gonna do all I can to put you before EVERYTHING."
