Cheer Up Train
Who: Skylar and Rachelle
When: Jan 3rd, Evening (Backdated)
Where: Avarice
God bless her, Neely had been trying (several times a night, actually) to cheer Rachelle up. And it had mostly been working. But sometimes, like right now, Rachelle missed Maddie. Avarice seemed somehow... empty without her friend there trying to goad her into doing stupid drunken things. Wearing a pair of black jeans with a Red Sox tee, Rachelle stared absently into her drink, trying not to dwell on it.
Skylar was actually spending the night at Avarice tonight, since Ben was doing some business stuff tonight. Now, what business, Skylar frankly wasn't sure. Maybe Full Moon Records stuff? Anyways...when she spotted Rachelle looking sad, she sat down beside her. "Penny for your thoughts?"
"I'm just an asshole. Don't mind me." She muttered, still kind of... staring into her drink. "Or just take me out back and shoot me or something. I dun' care."
"One option is boring and the other isn't happening." Strangely, she didn't elaborate on which was which. "Not going away until you spill your guts."
"One of my friends... we kind of started getting feelings for each other. But I wasn't about to leave Neely for her. I love Neely more than ANYTHING. So she doesn't wanna be around me anymore."
Skylar actually pouted. "So...since she couldn't be the center of your world, she burned the bridge." What a bitch. "I'm sorry, honey." She reached over and gave Rachelle a hug.
"No... more like... gah. She has a boyfriend. And she was more or less willing to leave him for me. But I couldn't do the same. I... understand. I just miss her. You and Maddie were my best friends." Chelle sighed, grumbling.
"Well, I'm never going to leave you, no matter what," Skylar said, still hugging on her friend for an extra moment before letting go. "And you completely love Neely. Why *should* you leave her?"
"Exactly. I just... I think it killed her that she fell for me more than I fell for her. I get it. If it was reversed, I'd be devastated." She smirked. "As it is, I felt like asking Ben to send Uncle Dave after her boyfriend..."
"Well, probably shouldn't do that," Skylar said with a grin. "Plus, I don't think Dave would do it, since he didn't actually *do* anything but date your friend." Whether or not that was a sin remains to be seen.
"Yeah, yeah. At least me and Neely got a new hobby to keep me distracted." Oh no... this wasn't gonna be good, huh.
Skylar arched an eyebrow. "Do I even want to hear this?" she asked, grinning just a tad, anyway.
"Your buddy Faith? Yeeeaaaah. She and her girlfriend kinda wanna be our personal groupies of sorts." She grinned proudly. "How fucking lucky are WE?"
Skylar snorted. "Your buddy, not mine," she pointed out. While it wasn't the animosity that had gone down between Patience and Skylar, or even Skylar and Iris, no true love was lost between those two. "She's definitely hot, though, I'll give you that. So good for you."
"Oh, crap. Was she more... um... Gwen's friend than yours? Sorry." Chelle almost blushed there, finding that particular fuckup a little... embarrassing. "Stupid drama..."
"No biggie," Skylar said with a laugh. "She never outright attacked me...you know, physically, or wished death on me *too* much, so don't worry. Plus, fun is fun, right?"
"Besides, you and Ben have your nanny. Because seriously, like I can't figure out what's going on THERE." Chelle cracked up. "Lucky fuckers..."
Skylar laughed. "I'm SURE you can put that together easily enough," she said. "Yeah, we're definitely lucky there." She grinned. "I'm not knocking having your own personal groupie. Really."
"Neely said Candi practically BROKE her. NEELY, Skylar." She laughed, shaking her head. "That bitch must be some kind of psycho or something to do that to Neely..."
"Well...Candi kind of IS a psycho," Skylar pointed out. "She's a little...well...does batshit insane cover it?" She shrugged. "Neely can handle her fine, just...don't piss her off, K?"
"Hrm. Duly noted." Chelle said, filing that bit away. It... kind of scared her... yet she also found it kind of hot. Christ. "So... I hear the bane of your existence is back in town..."
"Well, maybe not so bane," Skylar said. Could it be? "She called me and apologized, which was amazing because I was certain that she didn't know the phrase 'I'm sorry.' I was fairly impressed." Then, the truth. "Would have been more impressed if she'd quit trying to destroy Pat in some way or another."
"I barely know the guy, truthfully. Only one in that band I really DON'T know, come to think of it..." She'd actually had a nice time talking to Jack a while back, and clearly she was old pals with Chloe and Lexi...
"He's a great guy, even if he seemingly has rotten luck with women," Skylar said with a shake of her head. "I think he'll be alright if he just sticks with Baily. She may not want to say it, but the poor thing is head over heels. It feels strange calling Baily stable, but, out of the two, she's the one who won't take off at a moment's notice, you know?"
"Well... I don't know Patience well. Just that she's like... Neely's BFF, and that she's damn hot. DAMN hot. Whew." She laughed, fanning herself a little.
"I freely admit that Patience is gorgeous," Skylar said. "You'd have to be blind not to notice that. If we didn't meet under the circumstances we did...and if I didn't divorce one of her best friends, we might have been good friends." She shrugged. "But whatever."
"Well, yeah. And now that me and Neely are doing this new thing where we give each other 'get out of jail free' cards... I kinda wanna use one of mine on her. Tell Patrick and I will shoot you." Chelle said, raising an eyebrow.
"I promise not to tell Patrick," Skylar said. "Cross my heart. If I wasn't the mother of one of his kids, I may try for that, too." What? Patience was hot, and you KNOW the sex between them would be EPIC.
"Awesome. So... you gonna come check out my bar? Grand Opening is this weekend, for the start of the NFL Playoffs. We're gonna be AWESOME." She said with a great deal of pride. "Lots of shit for everyone, no matter WHO their favorite team is."
"Well, I'm pretty sure I haven't followed a football game in years, but for you, I'll wear whatever damn jersey I'm supposed to and cheer with the best of them," Skylar said playfully. "I'll be there."
"Nobody blames ya, babe. You're from New Orleans. Like you got a damn THING to cheer for." Well. She MAY have had a point there, yes? "I'll get you into a real team, like the Steelers or the Colts. There's hope for you, my young apprentice."
"Oh...they'll win a Super Bowl one day," Skylar said. "I may be dead and gone when it happens, but it'll happen. Statistics are on my side." If only she knew it would happen so soon?
"Right. Like how the Sox are gonna win a Series one day. Blake SWEARS it happened in her time, but... I haven't figured out yet if I think she's just trying to make me feel better." Rachelle snorted, still glad her friend had gotten her mind off of Maddie.
"Now why would Blake lie about something like that?" Skylar asked. "That's like taking your soul and putting it through the wringer. That would truly be evil."
"Maybe I grounded her or something in her time, and this is her revenge? She's enough of a little shit to do it, too." She grumbled, which was funny as everyone knew how much she and her alt!daughter adored each other.
Skylar snorted. "Seems more like something MY daughter would do, I think," she pointed out.
"You know? I totally adore Brandie. In whatever the fuck time she's from? You guys raised a great kid." Chelle smiled, leaning back. "Seriously, she's like the best kid I know."
"Brandie is utterly adorable," Skylar said with a smile. "I'm starting to think that her father and I must have gotten a tad bit more normal or something to have a daughter who isn't a complete sex fiend." Like her brother.
"Well... in all fairness, we don't know how she acts around her little Ash 2.0..." Chelle grinned... uh-oh.
"Well, that's just one person, and not the entire female population of LA," Skylar pointed out. Skylar was OK with the idea of her daughter being sexually active. "And NEVER say anything like that in front of Ben. He might go insane."
"Is it wrong that I want SO badly to see Ben go all Ward Cleaver? And by that I don't mean 'punishing the beaver', because I'm sure he does that with you all the goddamn time." Jesus Christ, Rachelle...
"Yeah well, his version of 'Ward Cleaver' is less wholesome and more along the lines of a mafia. He'll send one of his hit staff after the poor boy or something." Sadly, Skylar wasn't joking. She knew the people Be employed.
"I probably shouldn't find that so sexy. God, I really DO belong in this fucking family, huh." Rachelle admitted with a groan.
"Yep, pretty much," Skylar said with a shake of her head. "You fit in perfectly with this family." Sad but true.
