Ruthlessness
Who: Delilah and Ash
Where: The Hyperion
When: Saturday Evening, 1/15
Delilah knew that she had to mention what she had seen to Ash, but she wasn't terribly sure how to put it to him, plus she wanted to catch him in as good of a mood as possible before dropping this possible sort of bombshell on him. So, she decided to try and catch him after a training session with Buffy. He usually seemed to come out of those at least in a decent mood, after all. Workouts and all.
Well. Let's see. Ash, when working, got to have the satisfaction of seeing his Slayer improving constantly by leaps and bounds, feel like he was counting for something, AND get to watch a hot blonde sweating and stretching. Yeah. I'd say that would put him in a good mood. After Buffy went to get a shower, Ash quietly started to walk toward the small cafeteria that had been built on the second floor, hands stuffed in the pockets of his black suit.
When she saw where he was heading, Delilah hurried to catch up with him. "Ash?" she called out, walking up in stride with him. "Would it be possible for us to talk for a bit?"
"Hm?" He turned, raising a brow when he saw who was coming up to him. Delilah almost NEVER instigated conversation with him. "Is... everything alright?"
"Well...I'm not really sure how to answer that question." Delilah didn't instigate much of conversation with anyone that she wasn't close to. Just not in her nature. "May we talk in private?"
"Of course." Ash had learned, by now, not to show panic except in extreme situations. So he calmly led her to a table, sitting down across from her. "What's going on? Is there a problem with Cynthia?"
"No, this isn't a Slayer situation. This is more...personal, I guess is the right word." She took a deep breath to try and collect her thoughts. "A girl came into the shop the other day, complaining of having terrifying dreams about vampires. At first, we thought she might be a Slayer, but she didn't show any other signs. I performed a spell to see if someone had hexed her, and I was shown...a vision or something. I think it was one of her dreams." She picked her head up and looked Ash in the eyes. "I saw you, Ash. You setting fire to a vampire who had a mask of human flesh. This girl seems to be a reincarnation of that vampire. When did this happen?"
"....reincarnation?" Oh, no. As feared? That was alllll Ash cared about. "Where is the girl, Delilah. I need to know NOW."
"This girl is a human, Ash. She came to me because she was afraid," Delilah pointed out. "I'm telling you this because I felt that you should know. You are *not* to go after her in any way."
Oh dear. For the first time since helping Rachelle? Ash's eyes went JET BLACK. "I swore to every god I know of that if that bitch ever found a way to live again? I would keep killing her until the end of TIME."
Frankly, Delilah wasn't afraid. She knew now that she could protect herself more than she did before, and wasn't afraid to use it if need be. "That girl's soul was reincarnated long before that vampire died, Ashton. She's only getting memories now because it's dead, horrifically, I might add. Michele found no way to get back. You can swear to every god you know of and only some that you can dream, but I will not help you kill some innocent girl because of your lust for revenge." She sighed. "I highly doubt Lucy herself would want you going after one of her school mates."
"Can you swear to me that there is NO part of that vampire within her?" Ash asked, his calm, scary tone again showing where Courtney likely inherited it from.
"As far as I can tell, the only thing this girl may have from the vampire before is memories in the form of nightmares," Delilah said to him. "Reincarnation doesn't usually work in the way that you seem to be worried about. Remember, the vampire you dealt with didn't have a soul. This girl does. Big difference."
"That vampire..." He sighed... somehow, Delilah was one of the few supernatural beings who had no memory of that whole thing. "Killed the woman I love, Delilah. She murdered my Lucy. When she was brought back... the incident was somehow erased from most people's minds."
While she had no memory of what happened (despite having a supernatural power, she was still human, technically more so than a magic user), she more or less understood what had happened, mainly because of the flashes she had gotten from the girl. "I understand what she did, but this girl didn't do any of that. You have to remember that. I told you because I have more faith in you than most, despite the fact that I should have the least amount. Prove me right in that faith."
"As long as this girl... doesn't BECOME who she was... I swear I will not harm her. If you like... I can try to HELP her." His eyes briefly flashed black again. "But... if I ever fear she's becoming that woman... I will make what I did last time look like child's play."
She gave him a slight smile. "Do realize that, as magically...adept as you are, electricity still kills. If you go nearly as dark as you have been known to do before, *I* won't hesitate next time." This was why Delilah was a good match for Giles in ways that people didn't realize: when needed, she was equally ruthless if needed.
"Understood." He said, his voice never changing in tone. "If I ever lose control again... destroy me. I don't want to hurt anyone I love."
"I'd rather not. I actually kind of like you." She shook her head. "I will if necessary, though."
