Christmas With a Vampire
Who: Juliet and Hamilton
Where: On A Flight Enroute to Hamilton's Birthplace, then Hamilton's home
When: Friday, December 24 - Late
Juliet sat in a window seat wrapped in a blanket on a flight that was taking her and Hamilton to the place of his birth after having spent a pleasant Christmas Eve with her parents in Maine. It was Hamilton's Christmas present to her, though she was under the impression that he had planned on taking her to his homeland regardless if it were the Christmas holiday or not. And it was with this knowledge that Juliet had held back giving gifts to Hamilton during the gift giving portion of Christmas Eve at the McConnell house. The one she did present him with was a charmois sueded leather duster, the other she had would wait til after they had arrived at their destination.
Juliet tipped her head slightly to glance over at Hamilton who was seated in the seat next to her. "I think my mother was slightly disappointed that we wouldn't be spending all of Christmas Eve with them." Or at least that Juliet wouldn't be spending the festive holiday with her family. The McConnell's seemed to have taken to Hamilton, but that had been the first time they met the man, and they had heard little about him before Jules had decided to bring him home for the holiday.
Hamilton hmm'd thoughtfully, feeling a bit cruel for leaving the family reunion so short. "We could always go back in a day or two," he suggested with a faint smile. They were currently on a flight to Houston, but that wasn't their final destination. They were almost ready to land now, and luckily they had some time before dawn to get to his family home. Not much, mind you, but enough. He leaned over to place a kiss to her temple.
"We could." Juliet responded softly. "My parents seemed to like you, and I do want them to get to know you." To see what she saw in him, and hopefully they'd be able to get past the whole Hamilton's being a vampire thing should they ever learn about that. Juliet reached slowly over to lay her hand on his when she felt the plane start to make its descent into the Houston airport.
"Then it's settled," he replied, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. He appeared to be a little paler than usual, but that's what happens when one doesn't eat for a few days, hm? He hoped to find something to eat once the day had passed, but he worried about leaving her, as funny as that sounded. The plane finally descended and after about half an hour, they were in a rented car on the I-10 heading east to Beaumont.
Juliet sat up a little bit straighter when the place finally came into view with only about an hour before the sun would start to ascend into the morning sky. "This is it?" She questioned with a glance over to Hamilton clearly impressed by the property and house that stood upon it.
"This is it," he confirmed, pulling the car to the front of the property. A magnificent house on a large lot of land. It was well taken care of. Of course, he had a family of caretakers since the late 30's. Shapeshifter's who lived off of the land. He couldn't bare to sell the property, for some reason. Hopping out of the car, he rounded to the passenger side and opened the door for her, before leading her into the house. The previously mentioned shapeshifter's actually lived in a secondary house a few acres away, so it was all for them.
"This is breathtaking." Juliet remarked as she glanced around the place while walking up to the house with Hamilton. The young woman was used to the big cities with houses almost seeming to close in on her and the constant sound of traffic rushing by. Here it was peaceful. A nice change from the everyday.
"Maybe that's why I couldn't bring it upon myself to ever sell it," he admitted as he turned on the lights. Finding a remote near the front door, he pushed a button, which closed over the thick drapes in every room of the large two-story house. "You must be tired," he realised, really, how truly late it was.
"It was a long day." She answered back with a light smile. Or rather a long day and a half. Rest was actually sounding good to her at the moment. "Do you still use one of the rooms while you're here?" She had to ask wondering if he did or if he had other arrangements set up for him that were better accommodating to his kind.
"I do." He nodded. He had actually set up two rooms for their stay, although he mulled over a proposition for most of the drive to the homestead. "I'd rather not sleep underground when I don't have to. In fact, I think that's true for most of my kind." He smiled faintly and locked the front door out of habit. "You're certainly welcome to sleep for the rest of the morning with me, but if you'd rather not, I have a guest bedroom set up for you."
"I think that's all I'll be able to do sharing a bed with you for the remainder of the morning." Juliet responded with a soft, slightly tired smile. She had hoped he would make the offer to share a room during their stay at his home in Beaumont. And really there was no reason why they shouldn't be able to.
"Good." He smiled faintly and gently took her hand to lead her upstairs to the main bedroom. Everything looked... absolutely beautiful, and every piece of furniture was made around the late 19th-to-early-20th century. "Is there anything that you might need before we retire for the evening?" He asked, sounding just a little bit old then as he took of his jacket and draped it over one of two chairs near the fireplace.
Juliet held on lightly to Hamilton's hand as he led her upstairs to the master bedroom. "Just a little something from my bag." Jules answered as she didn't care to sleep in the clothes she had been traveling in for hours.
"Oh, of course," he replied, glancing at the closed drapes, as if sensing where the sun was in relation to the sky at that point. He somehow sensed that he only had a few minutes left before dawn broke. "I'll be a minute. Make yourself comfortable," he suggested as he dashed downstairs and outside to collect her bag for her.
When Hamilton departed the room, Juliet wandered over to one of the windows and eased open the curtain just a crack to allow her to gaze out at the approaching day, which the sun would soon be illuminating.
Once outside, Hamilton too, stopped to look at the lightening sky. It saddened him to think that he'd never really see the sun again (beyond movies and pictures, obviously), but then again, he always thought that if he ever wanted to end it all, that's how he'd go. Shaking out of his reverie, he collected Juliet's bag and was quick to get back inside. "Sorry. I should have thought..." he muttered as he re-entered the room.
Juliet turned away from the window letting the curtains fall closed once more when Hamilton re-entered his bedchambers. "It's okay. I could have gone down to the car to retrieve my things." Jules replied with a soft smile. She knew how close it was to day break and hadn't expected the man to offer to get her bag for her.
"I won't hear of it," he replied as he set the bag down on the edge of the bed for her. "I was happy to do it." If he'd been worried about his immortal well-being, he likely would have gotten someone else to collect her bag for them – but he was also glad that he didn't have to resort to that. He didn't like to put the caretakers in an imposition. He didn't see them often enough for that. He turned his back to Juliet, allowing her the chance to change comfortably. "I'll take you on a tour of the house after we've slept." He offered.
Stepping over to the bed Juliet opened her bag and pulled out a black over-sized tee and pair of black boy shorts. "I'd like that." She said with a smile once Hamilton had turned his back to her allowing the woman to change with a little bit of privacy. It was a gentlemanly act she appreciated, adding one more reason why she was falling in love with the vampire. "It's safe to turn around." Jules said once she had slipped out of her travel cloths and into her 'pajamas'.
Hamilton turned slowly, just in case she might have forgotten something, but smiled faintly when he saw her sleeping gear. It didn't surprise him at all, funnily enough. He was getting used to her sense of style. "I... uh," he cleared his throat, "usually sleep in boxers and a... wife beater. If that bothers you, I'm sure that I can find something else."
"I think the only thing the both of us is interested in at the moment is getting some sleep." Jules pointed out to the man as she moved to pull down the bedcovers. It really wouldn't bother her if he slept in boxers and tank to full length pajama pants and a t-shirt. "Do you sleep on the left or right?" The auburn haired woman questioned. If Hamilton had a preference she'd adhere to that as it mattered not to her which side she slept on, as long as she got some sleep.
"I just... don't want you to be uncomfortable." He explained as he sat down on the edge of the bed. He started working on his laces and set his shoes to one side, before stuffing his socks into them. "Where you are is fine." He was used to sleeping alone, so it was going to be an adjustment either way. He carefully took off his dress shirt and folded it and did the same with his pants, before turning off the overhead light and joining her in bed.
Juliet climbed under the covers and settled herself in the bed as Hamilton shut off the light. "I think this has been one of the nicest Christmas' I've had." Jules stated with a smile as she rolled over slowly to her other side to face Hamilton once the man climbed into the bed. It had been a tiring one spending the earlir portion of Christmas Eve with her folks and then making the flight out to Houston, and then the final leg of their trip to Beaumont made by car, but Juliet was finding it all worth it.
"Me too. ...And I've had quite a few more than you," he added with a small, tired yet cheeky smile as he turned to face her in the bed. He was desperate to stay awake for as long as he could, but couldn't help it when his eyes started to flutter closed when they spoke.
Juliet smirked lightly at his comment. "Goodnight, Hamilton." She said softly giving a light kiss as she nestled up against him after rolling over once more to face away from the man. Though she tried fighting it Jule could feel her lids become heavy and start to droop closed as sleep tried overtaking her.
"Goodnight..." He murmured sleepily. After a moment, he wrapped an arm around her waist and molded her body to his, before sleep finally overtook him.
