Baby Room Decorating
Who: Pat and Skylar
When: Monday Afternoon
Where: Pay and Skylar's House
Pat and Skylar's impromptu performance at Avarice a few nights earlier had quickly become the talk of the local music scene: it had everything that makes people love to talk: the debut of a new band lineup, a hot new song, and public acknowledgment of a hot romance. Pat was still riding high on that part of it... he'd proposed to Skylar on stage, and she'd happily said yes. So, for now, he stood stoically in the room they had planned to be the baby's room, just reflecting on everything that had happened in the last few weeks.
While Pat hadn't let her lift much more than a bag of clothes lately, Skylar was still trying to move things out of the extra guest room in this place. She had three extra rooms, luckily, so it wasn't like they needed to buy a new place soon. She walked into the baby's room where Pat was standing. "Thinking hard or hardly thinking?" she asked him with a smile.
"Har har." He laughed though, pulling her to him with a grin. "You know... I think we're gonna make good parents."
"You sure about that?" Skylar was never sure about her own parenting abilities. Her parents had been...OK, if a little distant.
"We're both loving people, we're both patient people, and we both love kids." Ok... Pat couldn't help this next part. "Of course, Ben clearly loves kids too, but he's coming nowhere NEAR our child."
Skylar shuddered. "If we have a girl, she is staying locked away until she's thirty," she said. "And no, Ben is in no way allowed near our child alone. I doubt it can be helped if he is around at all, since he kind of is our number one patron."
"Luckily, I think she'll at least be safe until she hits puberty..." He snickered, unable to help teasing her about the Lydia thing now. It'd been long enough for the initial shock to wear off, at least. "Speaking of which... I can't help but notice Lydia's been... avoiding you lately. This morning, she jumped up and left for school as soon as she heard you coming downstairs."
"Yeah, I think she's expecting the worst to come out with pregnancy hormones now," Skylar said with a grimace. She didn't want her little sister hiding from her, but wasn't sure how to deal with her otherwise.
"You know, I really enjoyed singing with you." He smirked, blushing a little. "Kinda turned me on, really."
"Oh, everything turns you on," Skylar said with a grin. "I really liked singing with you, too, though."
"That is NOT true. Everything does NOT turn me on, thank you." He huffed, a little indignant. "Everything concerning YOU turns me on."
She laughed. "Fine, fine. Semantics, only, darling," she said to him with a wink. "So, what colors should we do this room in, anyway? Green, maybe?"
"Green's good... thank god you're not going crazy with pink." He chuckled, kissing her on the head. "So, any idea who you want in the wedding?"
"I figured something a little more neutral that pastel pink," Skylar said. They technically weren't even sure of the sex yet. They just had her hunch as of now. "Well, Lydia, of course. Meredith as well, since she introduced us. So, it'll need to be a night wedding. And Jack...for obvious reasons. Who else do you want? Oh, and Chloe, too."
"Chloe... so.... stock up on candy, right?" He laughed, shaking his head. "You know, I'm not really sure who I'd want. I'll have to put some thought into that. Jack's my only really... close friend."
"We'll figure people out," Skylar said. "Now, the real question. Do you want to have the wedding before or after the baby?"
"You know, I hadn't really thought about that. I suppose if it's alright with you, I'd rather it be before. If you want to do that, we should get a move on though... because I know you'll never forgive me if I plan it late enough that you can't wear some form-fitting thing..." He smirked.
"We can do before, but we'll need to do it kind of fast," Skylar agreed. "I still want to fit into a gown that doesn't have to come in tent size, if you catch my drift." She was sure he'd appreciate that as well.
"Sounds great to me..." He said, grinning wickedly as he squeezed her hand. "Speaking of things I want to get in before you get too pregnant..." He grabbed her, and lifted her up, gently tossing her over his shoulder and walking off toward their bedroom.
