Sharing Happiness
Who: Isabella and Josie
Where: Chloe's Sugar Shack
When: Dec. 27th, Afternoon
Christmas had come and went, presents had been unwrapped, and Josie had had one of the best Christmases in her memory, and it had nothing to do with what she had received (although her gifts weren't that bad, either). She had spent some time with both of her mothers and her father, but had spent the few nights she had been in town at her 'Momma Iz's' home. The two of them had actually done a good bit of talking as well, and Josie found that her and Isabella had a good bit in common. It was strange that, after spending all this time disliking her mothers, now, in a slightly altered timeline where they hadn't ended up together, thus she probably wouldn't be born, she was actually getting along with the both of them. Strange.
Today she was supposed to head back to Vegas, though. She had to be at the gallery for work tomorrow, so now she was enjoying a late lunch (along with desserts, Chloe's Sugar Shack served passable sandwiches as well), plus enjoying a delectable cup of cappuccino.
Isabella smiled faintly as she watched Josie eat her sandwich. She hadn't ordered anything to eat but did have her own cappuccino, which she sipped delicately before setting the cup down on the table in front of her. It was nice to spend time with her AU!Daughter, as well as her surrogate daughters. It felt... normal. Only few people knew how much Isabella had always wanted a family like that. One of them was Josie. Proof of the fact that she did have a heart, even if she kept it well hidden most of the time. "I'm glad that you could spend Christmas with us."
"Glad to be here," Josie said after taking a bite of her tuna melt and swallowing it. After giving her birth mother a grin, she took a sip of her coffee. "One thing I miss about LA is that this place really does have the best coffee that money can really buy." Mainly because of all the damn sugar that the Van Warren sisters dumped into the drinks, but that didn't make it any less tasty. "They should totally open up a place in Vegas."
"Oh, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd thought about franchises before," Isabella murmured. She rather liked the coffee here herself, but had it only occasionally. "Did you get along well with the girls at all?"
"Actually, you're right. They totally probably have." Josie nodded, taking another sip of her drink before eating a little more of her sandwich. "I got along with them fine, but, where I'm from, both were way famous and a good bit older than me." Kind of freaky to see them now, all young and basically her age.
"I suppose that takes a bit of an adjustment," Isabella replied, smiling warmly. Who knew that it would be this specific group of women to breath some life into her? She was sure if it weren't for Rebecca, she'd be as hard on Bethany and Sin as ever. It seemed the woman had melted her cold heart significantly. Speaking of... "I know that it must be... odd seeing me with someone other than 'Momma Meeg?'"
Josie thought on that for a moment. "A little odd...but sort of a good kind of odd," she admitted. "I know it sounds weird. Most kids would kill for their parents to be together, but you kind of drove each other batshit." She shrugged. "You seem better off with the people that you're with now, you know?"
Isabella smiled sadly at that. She thought about Meeghan from time to time, but her heart felt so much lighter being with Rebecca now. "I think... if it's possible, I loved your mother too much, hence: batshit. But you're right. Things are better now."
Josie nodded. "I think you may be right." And Meeghan, in that universe, hadn't quite been ready to stay with one person when she met Isabella, and things just snowballed from there.
"Which why I was thinking... In a few months, when things are more settled, of asking Rebecca to... Well, marriage isn't legal, is it?" She frowned thoughtfully.
"Not yet," Josie said with a smirk, as if she knew something. Anyways..."I think that would be pretty awesome, actually. Guess this means I should actually...you know, meet her."
"Yes. An actual conversation will be nice. I know she'll just adore you." Looks like someone was a bit gushy, hm?
It was actually totally cute to see her mother this way, and she was pretty sure that she'd never use the term 'cute' to describe her mother at all. Learn something new every day, huh? "Hope so," Josie said simply.
"She will." Isabella promised. She took another sip of her drink and set it on the table, silently appraising Josie for a moment. "How are things where you are, anyway? Is everything alright?"
"Things are good, actually," Josie said with a smile. "Job's going good, I might have met a cool guy, I really can't complain much about my life."
"Really now? Do I get details, or ... is that a bit of a strange question to ask?" She knew little of Sin's fiance and Bethany's boyfriend, apart from her own personal observations from meeting them briefly.
"Well, other than meeting in a club and a few phone calls, it really isn't much yet to report," Josie said playfully. "He's actually from LA, so it's kind of a long distance thing."
"That's impressive. Long distance is hard for anyone," she explained, smiling when she realized something. "You seem happier."
Josie smiled. "I kind of feel like I've kind of found my place, you know?" In her former life and in present day LA, she had found herself floundering a little, but she had found her place in Vegas.
"I'm happy for you, sweetheart." Isabella smiled, genuinely meaning that. It really looked like both of their lives were finding some kind of equilibrium, huh? "It usually takes people years to do that."
"Then consider me lucky," Josie said with a grin. Lucky that she got accidentally pulled into the past? Yup.
