Try Picking Up Your Cousin And Get Burned Who: Piper and Mere Where: Avarice When: Dec. 18th, Evening
Suffice it to say that Mere didn't know what was coming to shock the daylights out of her tonight. She was simply waiting for her boyfriend to finish with band practice, and had decided to spend her time here instead of hanging on him at the practice itself. Girl had plenty of other things that she could be doing than hanging on her boyfriend's shoulder while he was doing work, after all. Right now she was sipping at a beer and enjoying the music played by Baily up in the DJ booth. It seemed that she was in a Motorhead mood tonight, because this was definitely the third song by them in the past hour or so. Mere couldn't complain, though. Who doesn't like 'Ace of Spades'? Seriously?
Bored at home alone, Piper decided to venture out that night as her father was working another of his long nights over at Wolfram and Hart. It wasn't like she intended on finding trouble that night when she entered Avarice, but sometimes trouble just seems to have a way of finding a person, or as in this case a relative finding another who they didn't know existed.
As she weaved her way through the crowded club, Piper placed a gentle hand on the band that she had been forced to put on to show she was underage. A band she told herself she was not going to wear the rest of the night she would be at the club. With a few inaudible words the wristlet just seemed to melt away into thin air almost as if it had never been on her wrist.
"Can I get a soda." The young brunette request as she sidled up to the bar. Even with the irritating little bracelet no longer worn, Piper didn't exactly look the part of someone over the age of twenty-one. Why cause problems for herself unnecessarily so early in the evening by trying to order something alcoholic. That could wait til later if she so chose she wanted something more on the adult side.
Mere couldn't help but notice the pretty girl that sat down at the bar near her. Of course, if she had known that she had been previously wearing an under-age band, she might at least play nice. However, she didn't, and the girl was cute. Of course, if she had known that they were cousins, she'd play VERY safe, too. Still, ignorance right now. "Haven't seen you here before," she admitted, looking the girl over. While getting a vague sense of familiarity, she knew that she hadn't seen her here before. "And I'm here far too much to be healthy."
"Haven't been here before." Piper informed the girl who approached her just as her drink was delivered. "They do say too much of a good thing is bad for you." Piper commented with a glance to Meredith. "To which I say if it's a good thing how bad could it actually be for you." The young witch also got that vague sense of familiarity, but Piper chose to brush that feeling aside. If she knew the other girl, Piper was certain she would have recognized her within the first few seconds.
"I agree with that sentiment," Mere said with a smile. "No way that too much of a good thing can be bad for you." And hopefully this girl was good, but she certainly looked it. Mere finally figured that, for the moment, maybe the girl just had one of those faces...or else she was just getting old and forgetful (at 19, of course). "And this place is great. New to LA, or just to Avarice?"
"I suppose you could say both." Piper answered with a sip taken of her drink. "And it probably is if you're really into this kind of music." Not that Piper intensely disliked the kind of music played in the club, if she did the teen would have turned right around and walked out the instant she heard the music. It really was okay as far as clubs were concerned.
"That's true...if you don't dig rock and metal, then this really isn't the club for you," Mere admitted. Of course, most people who just flat couldn't stand it either didn't come at all or left very quickly. She hadn't done either just yet.
"I dig more the rock then the metal." Piper stated. Metal could get a bit too loud and overpowering for the teen and could be the cause behind her getting a headache if she listened to it for too long. But mixed together with the rock sound it was somewhat enjoyable for the teen witch.
"They play a good mix here, depending on a night and the DJ. If you're nice and don't ask for rap, when Baily's playing," Mere started, pointing over to the booth to show Baily doing her thing in it, "she'll play basically what you want."
"I may just have to make it a point to go up there and make a request." Piper commented once her eyes lit up the DJ Meredith motioned toward. Not many of her own persuasion interested Piper, but a small few did, and Bailey just happened to fall into that category.
Mere caught that look. She also knew that Baily had fooled around with at least one girl in the past, so the girl wasn't completely shut out. Good luck to her. "Go for it. She's actually the DJ up there most nights. Amazingly, she loves her job, or is just a general workaholic. I'm not terribly sure which one."
"Everyone needs to take time to enjoy themselves." Piper commented casually as she took another sip of her soda while her gaze seemed to linger on the DJ a brief moment more before the teen directed her attention back to Meredith. "You ever go for it with her?" She asked the other girl out of mild curiosity.
"She's dating someone that's...kind of like a cousin/uncle to me," Mere said. "Plus, I've fooled around with like, half of her family. It wouldn't stop me, but it might stop her." She gave the girl a grin. "I'm fairly certain that the two of them don't mind bringing a third party home, though."
"I'm not a Ménage à trois kind of girl." The teen informed Meredith. But that little bit of info Mere shared with her wasn't about to deter Piper from trying to get Bailey alone. Piper found the challenge to have a certain thrill to it.
"You're missing a hell of a guy, from the rumors I hear," Mere said playfully, but left it at that. "Baily's quiet, but I hear she's a damn animal in the sheets, so, if you land her, kudos to you."
"I tend to like to chose my own partners, not have them selected for me." Piper cited trying not to let herself be offended by the other girl's remark. It was, after all, said in a playful way. "The DJ, though, seems to be quite the conquest to achieve." The witch speaking her thought as her eyes wandered back over toward Bailey.
Well, Mere meant no offense, either way. It was just more of a general comment that she would make. "Well, my newest acquaintance, that is something that I understand." Mere just...well, wasn't terribly picky.
"Name's Piper." If the two were going to continue conversing the teen rathered be referred to by her name then newest acquaintance, girl or some other casual moniker a person put upon another on a first meeting.
"Meredith," Mere said, offering her hand to the other girl. It was best to get on some sort of named basis, after all.
"Does Meredith have a last name." Piper held off shaking hands as she was not liking the feeling that seemed to wash over her. First there was that vague familiarity about the girl, and now finding out her name was Meredith, Piper only hoped that she wouldn't reveal that her last name was Delany.
"Delany, actually," Mere said with a slight smirk. Yeah, she was also getting famous, so saying who she was was starting to get kind of fun. And also, Mere only knew that she had an uncle that she got a card and money from every year. She didn't know about anyone else that he might have, though.
The look of disappointment etched its way over the witch's features. That really wasn't what Piper had wanted to hear. It had been better for her to pretend that her uncle and cousin didn't actually exist since she had never met them, that all now changed as Meredith was there standing before her in the flesh. "Was nice meeting you, Meredith." Piper said suddenly, though not all that sure that was truly the case. The teen quickly downed the remainder of her drink before turning to walk away from the other girl.
Mere snorted as the girl walked away. "First time that's happened without a slap being involved," she said merrily as she finished the rest of her beer. "CJ? I'm gonna need a tequila slammer after that oh so wonderful rejection." As soon as the tequila slammer was on the bar she downed it, she saw Camille walk by. "Already ready for try two," she said, following Camille as she headed off for some table or another.
