Merry Christmas
Who: Julian and Brandie
Where: Chloe's Sugar Shack
When: Christmas Eve
Brandie had slipped out of the house before her father had gotten home, to make sure that he wouldn't throw some sort of snit fit about her meeting her boyfriend on a holiday. Her mother was SO much more understanding about being in love. Mothers usually were, though. Still, Brandie had gotten out of there and, after making a quick call to Julian, made her way to Chloe's Sugar Shack. She was amazed that the place was open, but she saw Mouse manning the counter and even spotted another girl waiting there that she was sure was Mouse's girlfriend, if only because of the way she saw the two of them looking at each other. So cute. Anyways, when she got there, carrying Julian's present with her, she ordered herself a hot chocolate and sat down at one of the tables.
Julian walked in a few minutes later, and if the diference between he and Ash was never apparent before, it was now. Unlike Ash, Julian WANTED to be happy. He wore his usual mostly-black clothing, but with (cutely) a Santa hat on as well. Sitting down across from Brandie, he leaned in to sweetly kiss her on the lips before setting a small gift bag on the table. "Merry Christmas, Brandie..."
She giggled when she saw the little Santa hat on his head. While she could totally see (and make) him happy, he still looked a little strange with something as festive as a Santa hat on. If he had worn a Christmas sweater, she may have died. "Merry Christmas," she said after kissing him back. "So, how are you?"
"Alright. A little sad for my father, but otherwise just happy to see you on a day like this." He said, reaching over to squeeze her hand. "I brought you something. Its not much, but I tried.."
"Sad?" OK, that was kind of weird, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to bring family stuff up on an otherwise really good day. "I'm sure whatever you brought me was wonderful," she said to him. "Don't worry so much."
"Yeah. He's so... alone. He misses my mom, and he has no friends or girlfriend or anything. He sent me to find you... Because he wants ME to be happy. But I know he's sitting there with a bottle of scotch just sulking." He pushed the bag in front of her. "For you."
Brandie made a slight face. She appreciated that the man was at least warming up enough to encourage Julian to come and see her. Now she just had to work on HER dad. "Maybe we can do something for him for New Year's?" she suggested. "So that he won't be alone." She took the bag from him and opened it up.
Inside was a CD he'd made her, of a bunch of romantic songs that made him think of her, a small notebook full of poetry he'd written while thinking of her, and a silver necklace with a sun-shaped pendant. "That's to represent the sunshine you've brought into my life."
When she saw the gifts, she reached across the table and hugged him. "Thank you SO much!" she squealed, a grin on her face. She picked up her small bag (it was actually a 'Jack Skellington' bag that she had gotten from a Hot Topic) and handed it to him. "Um...mine is...well...I think we were thinking along similar lines, actually." Skylar let her into the home studio and Mere helped her record some songs for Julian by her. Hopefully they didn't sound too bad, since she was kind of new at playing the guitar.
"See? Great minds think alike." He laughed, reaching to place a palm on her cheek as he kissed those sot lips sweetly. "Thank you. I... I really, really love you, Bran."
"I love you, too, Julian," she said back to him with a smile. She took a sip of her hot chocolate after kissing him again. "So, what do you want to do while I still have time escaped from my parents?"
"Well... I dunno if you'd be interested, but..." He gulped, blushing a little. "Your aunt... Rachelle?... She introduced herself to me a few nights ago at Avarice. Said that she owns the bar that's opening soon, the one connected to this place? She said if we wanted to hang there for a little while tonight, to be alone, that she'd have some wings, fries, and drinks ready for us..." He pulled out a key, and laughed. "And she told me if I lost this or didn't give it back, she'd kick me in 'the junk'."
Brandie giggled. "Sounds like the perfect plan." She had certainly spent many a nights with her Aunts Neely and Rachelle in her time. She knew them pretty darn well. "Plus, I know that she knows a fantastic recipe for wings." She finished off her own hot chocolate. "And she's totally not kidding about the part about kicking you in the junk. She will."
