The Start Of Something Good
Who: Tara and Willow
Where: Chloe's Sugar Shack
When: Saturday Afternoon, 12/4
Tara, after about eight hundred tries, finally managed to call Willow and ask her to meet for a cup of coffee at Chloe's Sugar Shack to 'hang out.' It was something low key enough that, if it turned out that Willow didn't like girls, then it could just be construed as 'friends meeting' thing. OK, so she was chickening out a little, but this had taken her so long to set up just to figure out where she might stand with Willow that it was a near miracle that it happened. Tara looked down at her cup of tea nervously as she waited for Willow to arrive, half sure that the girl wasn't coming, or had changed her mind.
Willow entered Chloe's with a quick glance around, and a cute little wave and smile to Tara when she spied the girl sitting momentarily alone at a table, before heading to the counter to get her usual drink.
"Hi." Her smile seeming to brighten when she did make it over to the table and verbally greet Tara as she seated herself across from the other girl.
Tara finally looked up just in enough time to see Willow walk into the door, giving her a slight smile and a wave as she came to sit down with her. "Hey," she said back. "D...do you want to order something?"
"I think I'm fine at the moment." Willow smiled holding up her cup to indicate just that to Tara. "How have you been?" The red head asked with a sip of her Eggnog Latte. Willow had been surprise, but pleasantly so to have received a call and invitation from Tara to meet the other girl at Chloe's for coffee, which had actually turned out to be tea and a latte.
"I've been good too, and really have been meaning to stop by Ashes To Ashes to replenish a couple things." And hopefully when you'd be working there. Though Willow hadn't dared voice that little thought. "You still work there, right?" The thought that she might have switched job suddenly jumped into the red head's mind right at that moment.
"Yeah, I still work there," Tara said quickly. She partially paid her way through college, so she had to have some job, plus Ms. Zamora let her buy magic supplies at half price. Why would any job be better for her? "You should stop in."
"Oh! I will. You don't realize how quickly I burn through candles." Willow laughed softly, mostly to herself at that fact. "I know I could buy candles most anywhere, but Ashes seem to have candles that are more fragrant then most places, and hold there scents longer.
"Maybe it's a witch thing?" Willow mentioned half asking, half stating to Tara with a casual shrug of her shoulders. Or it could be they were just candle fanatics who needed candles burning constantly in their places of living.
Tara giggled slightly. "Maybe," she agreed. "We have to restock those candles every day, though. So maybe th...they are just great c...candles."
Willow smiled then thinking Tara's giggle was cute and had a nice sound to it. "Or that could be the reason." Willow finding herself agreeing with the blonde's logic. It was probably due to the quality of Ms. Zamora's candles that they were so popular and not just within the magics community.
Tara nodded. She knew of a few people who came in just for picking up candles. "So...wh...what have you been up to lately?" she asked.
"Nothing much. Just being the same old boring Willow. You know get up, attend classes, maybe talk to a friend or two, do a little hocus pocus and then it's beddie by for a certain red headed witch." Willow shared half jokingly. "I really need to get out more." She added kind of sadly thinking how pathetic her life seemed to be at the moment.
"That sounds a lot like me," Tara said. "Except I h...have blond hair." And she worked as well. Still, it seemed that they lived similar lives.
"Which is good," Willow nodded with a smile, "cause I don't think you would look good as a red head. The natural blond color seems to suit you."
Tara smiled and shook her head. "N...no...I think blond is best," she said. "You're much prettier as a red head th...than I w...would be."
"I think it's good then that we're both happy with our natural hair color." Willow smiled. "You know, we should hang out more, Tara. I mean we do have a couple things in common, and well, how bad could it be. Two witches can't be that boring." Willow added teasingly.
Tara smiled at Willow when she said that they should hang out more. "I...I think so, t...too," she said to Willow. She hoped that she meant more by that, but she really couldn't be sure. "I d...don't kn..know...I c...can be pr...pretty b...boring sometimes."
Willow "pffted" then barely managing not to roll her eyes at the comment. "You're not as boring as you might think." Willow actually liked Tara's company and found her to be less boring then the blond thought she was.
Tara smiled at her. "You really think so?" she asked Willow.
"Of course!" Willow smiled. "Just because you're not as outgoing as some people I know doesn't mean you're boring. I find you interesting."
Tara's smile got wider. "Thank you," she said softly to Willow. "I find you in...interesting, too."
"So, what do you like doing when you don't have to work or attend class?" Willow asked with a smile after taking another drink of her latte.
"Well...I like to read a lot," Tara said...and immediately felt boring again. "I also go to a wiccan group on campus once a week." They weren't especially knowledgeable, but it was at least somewhere to go other than work and class.
"I heard about them and considered joining the group til I learned that they weren't exactly practicing witches." Willow said to Tara when a thought suddenly hit her. "You know," the red head taking a sip of her drink before continuing, "we should start up a real wiccan group. One that actually centers around witches and the whole wiccan practice." It would give those true to the magics a place to congregate and socialize. A place were actual magic was discussed.
"I kn...know...but it's a way to get out." She didn't intend for it to sound sad...but it still was. "I th...think s...some of the girls in it may pr...practice, though. It's the only one on c...campus right now." She smiled at Willow. "I think a real wiccan group would be great. I'm sure Ms. Zamora w...would let us use the store for m..meetings."
"You think she would?" Willow perking at the thought of wiccans meeting at the magic store. "Once we get everything organized," which would mean that the two would have to spend more time with each other over the coming days to plan and organize the group, "we can put up fliers or advertise in the paper to get members." The red head said hopefully.
Tara nodded. "I th...think she'd be happy to help," she said. Ms. Zamora was a nice woman, so Tara didn't see why she wouldn't let them hold meetings there. "There have to be at least a f...few more people like us on campus. Maybe open it to high schoolers...too?" It was an idea, anyway.
"That's a good idea!" Willow smiling at the suggestion made by the blond. "I started practicing when I was in high school and I'm sure there are others that age we are just delving into the magics, or have even been practicing before they entered high school." Why should they just limit the group to those of college age when high schoolers might have the same interests as herself and Tara.
"I was practicing then, too," Tara admitted. She was doing it even earlier, since her mother had given her some basic lessons at an early age, but she didn't really get into it until after her mother passed away. "I'm sure we can put up fliers at the store as well."
"Anything to get interest and possible members to our wiccan group." Willow stated. Hopefully word of mouth and the fliers they would have printed up would draw interest from the wiccan community and bring true magic workers into the planned group.
Tara nodded. "I am sure that we'll g...get pl..plenty of interest," she said to Willow. She knew that she would have loved something like this back when she was in high school. She wouldn't have felt quite so alone if she had a group to go to.
"I think so too. I have a good feeling about this little venture we've come up with." Willow smiled over to the blond.
