Dating Danger Who: Juliet and Hamilton Where: The Streets of L.A. When: Wednesday Evening - December 1st
Juliet couldn't believe she had actually offered to cook dinner for Hamilton on their last date. It wasn't because she was a bad cook, it was more due to the fact that she rarely cooked for anyone much less herself. But here she was anyway at the butcher getting a couple grade A steaks for Thursday's dinner at her loft. Everything else she might be needing could wait til tomorrow as the meat was the most important for the meal and Jules wanted to get the best there was. Thanking the butcher, the young woman gathered up her purchase and headed out of the place to walk the short distance to her car. Juliet, though, didn't quite make it that far when she suddenly felt the bag of steaks fall from her grasp as a hand captured her mouth and she found herself forcefully being pulled into the alleyway she had just been crossing. She had barely gotten out what may have sounded like half a scream before the strong hand clamped over her mouth to silence the woman.
Hamilton had actually been on to his way to the same butcher, believe it or not. Since he'd begun seeing Juliet, he'd wondered about supplementing his diet with something a little less... human. Maybe then he wouldn't find her scent so attractive, hm? Then again, if he wasn't so attuned to her now, he wouldn't have sensed that something was wrong. Hearing a scuffle, he bolted towards it, just knowing that she was in danger. "STOP," he growled to her assailant as he caught up to them, his face unconsciously shifting to its vampiric form.
When Juliet regained her senses, pushing away the shock at being grabbed off the street, the young began fighting against her assailant by kicking and trying to claw at the face hidden beneath a ski mask as the stranger dragged her further into the depths of the darkened alley just as Hamilton appeared. Dealing with a feisty woman was one thing, the guy had come prepared for that with the knife he carried on his person. Having to deal with someone more on his level was something the guy hadn't prepared for. And glimpsing the deformity of the apparent rescuers face, well that was a bit more then the attacker was wanting to go up against. Releasing Juliet by throwing the woman against the wall in a move that hopefully would distract her knight in shining armor for a brief moment, the man turned to flee down the alley in the opposite direction.
Hamilton rushed to Juliet, checking for any major injuries before something deep and primal in him SNAPPED. He chased after her attacker, taking a moment to truly make him HURT before coming back to her, fangs and all. "Are you okay?" He said sweetly.
Juliet felt her head hit something solid and then found blackness setting in by the time Hamilton reached her and checked on the young woman. Her eyes opened at the sound of the familiar voice, but when they focused on the face of the man kneeling down beside her it hadn't the same familiarity that Juliet knew. And it cause the woman to try and scramble back out of his reach. "What happened to your face?" Asking, though the answer was slowly sinking in leaving Juliet confused and slightly frightened for the moment. Even though deep down she knew she should have nothing to fear from Hamilton, her reaction to seeing his true form gave the opposite impression.
"Something that happened a LONG time ago," he said, trying to keep his voice soothing as he looked her over. He worried that she had a concussion, and that wasn't a good thing. The last thing she needed to do right now was loose consciousness. He let his face revert back to his human appearance and cupped her cheeks, looking into her eyes. "Juliet, I need you to look in my eyes for a minute. Please."
She knew she should pull away, and there was that brief moment that she wanted to, but hearing the gentle familiarity of his voice and seeing the face she knew oh so well once Hamilton had reverted back to his normal human look, Juliet just couldn't bring herself to do that and found herself compelled to look into the man's eyes.
When he asked her to look into his eyes, it wasn't for loving reasons. He checked her pupil dilation to see if one eye reacted differently to light than the other. "What is your name?" Always a good question to start with if someone had a concussion, after all.
"Juliet McConnell." She responded making herself draw back from the man to make an attempt to stand, which started off good, but when Juliet was halfway up on her she had a brief bout of dizziness which had her making a reach for the wall the was inches away.
He was quick to wrap his arms around her waist to try to steady her, and sighed sadly. "I'm going to have to take you to the hospital, Juliet. You've suffered a concussion." He smelled the blood in her hair, although it was a minor injury, that wasn't to say that it wouldn't be massive internally. He located her keys and led her to the passenger side of her car, making sure to collect her things before leading her inside.
Juliet made a protest against that, but her words just seemed to have gone unheard as Hamilton guided her out of the alley and toward her car. "You don't have to do this." She tried insisting again once she had been put into the passenger seat and Hamilton was driving them toward the hospital.
"I don't think I'd live with myself if something happened to you," he replied honestly, trying to keep her talking. He was frightened for her, which was all too evident by the stern expression on his face as he drove them down the road, trying to avoid any bumps.
"Why... " Juliet turned her head slowly to look over at him, "why didn't you tell me." She realized the answer to that as the words left her lips. If roles had been reversed, Jules knew that she would have kept that little secret from him.
He clenched his jaw and thought carefully on his answer. "I've been judged by WHAT I am, more often than WHO I am. That's not to say that you would have done the same thing that most everyone else I've ever met does, I just... didn't want that to be a factor as to why you wouldn't see me. Also? It's not very attractive." He smirked, trying to lighten the situation. He briefly thought that he was the first (soulless) vampire to fall in love with a human, but then again, that can't be right.
"Guess I just have a thing for charismatic cads." Juliet said trying to keep the conversation light as she reached up to lightly brush her fingers across the cut on her head that had been trickling blood. Before finding out what Hamilton was, Juliet was sure about how she felt about the man, now she was a bit conflicted on those feelings.
He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, certain that he knew what she was thinking – no matter how foggy she might have been from the blow to the head. He cleared his throat, "If you don't want to see my anymore, I'll understand." He turned them down another corner, slowing the car once the hospital was in sight. "Just let me get you there in one piece, okay?"
"Stay with me." She requested licking at her dry lips. While she might need a little time to sort through her feelings or whatever about Hamilton, Juliet knew she didn't want to be inside the hospital all on her own.
"Okay," he promised as he pulled her car to a park in the lot. He parked and was quick to get out and run to the passenger side to assist her, letting her lean on him as he led her inside. "Is there anyone I should call?"
She almost answered no as she didn't want to add to all Patrick was going through with Patience having walked out on him and baby Cash, she didn't want him worrying about her needlessly. But Jules knew that her brother would never forgive her if she purposely kept something like this from him. "My brother, Pat." She told him as she found herself needing to use Hamilton as support as the man guided her from the car into the hospital. With the slight throbbing in her head and the brief bouts of nausea and dizziness, Juliet didn't think she would have made it all the way to the hospital doors without assistance.
Technically, Hamilton should have left her where she was and called an ambulance, but he had no faith that they'd get to her quickly enough, which was why he had driven. He nodded at her response, "Okay." Before he made any calls, though, he led her to the front desk in the ER and explained the situation to a nurse, who was quick to insist that they get scans done. He told the woman that they were married (just to get around the whole pesky 'only family needs to know' situation), but even so, he couldn't go WITH her to get said scans. "I'll be RIGHT here," he promised, trying to assure her as he made a mental note to call her brother as soon as she was out of sight.
Juliet didn't want to be tended to without someone she knew there with her. She hated being in places like hospitals that smelled of disinfectant, illness and death. And even though Hamilton said he would stay at the hospital, Juliet was a bit reluctant, well maybe a little more then a bit, to release his hand that she had been holding onto as the nurse started to wheel her away down a corridor in a wheelchair. "Promise." Juliet called back when she slowly twisted her head around to look back at the vampire before she had been wheeled out of his sight.
"Promise," he told her with a stern nod, watching her go. It broke his heart that he couldn't go with her, but, as previously mentioned, as soon as she was out of sight, he found a payphone and called Patrick McConnell (he'd found the number among Juliet's things), having the joy of leaving a message on his answering machine.
"Hello, this is Robert Hamilton calling for Patrick McConnell. Your sister, Juliet... There was an incident. She's at Mercy Hospital with a possible concussion. I'm not sure how bad it is, he hesitated to add more, although his voice sounded slightly shaky when he spoke again, "Please come as soon as you get this. I'll try contacting you again soon". He hung up and glanced toward where Juliet had been led off to, hoping he'd get to see her again soon.
