Making New Friends?
Who: Teresa and Julian
Where: Regan High School Library
When: Monday, Lunch Time (11/29)
Teresa let out a sigh as she pushed open the door and walked into the library of Regan High School. She was supposed to be doing some exercises and making sure that she stayed in shape for the basketball game on Thursday night, but her head wasn't in it at the moment. She just wanted a more peaceful atmosphere than the school gym at the moment. She walked inside and sat at one of the tables, no even looking at who else might be at the table at the moment, tugging at her skirt to make sure that it covered her legs before reaching into her book bag for something so that she looked somewhat busy.
Julian had, as usual when he and Brandie didn't have lunch together, was hiding in the library during his meal period. He was quietly munching on a ham and cheese sandwich, when his eyes went wide at seeing the girl literally flopping down next to him. "Um.... is... is everything ok?"
Teresa jerked a little and looked over at who had spoken to her. While most people didn't mess with him, everyone knew who Julian Lasher was. You didn't have creepy looking eyes like that without being noticed. "Oh...um...nothing. Just tired today," she said quickly.
"I'm used to not being noticed, but to have you sit right NEXT to me and not notice, well..." He smiled, trying to make a joke to lighten her mood. "That's new even for ME. Want something to eat? I have an extra apple in my lunch..."
"Guess I really am out of it today," she admitted with a slight smile. "Sure. I just kind of breezed by the cafeteria without even looking in it." With as notorious as Regan High School's cafeteria was, though, that wasn't exactly a bad thing.
"Here ya go..." He said, dipping into his bag and pulling out a small red apple, handing it to her with a shy smile.
"Thanks," she said, giving him a smile before taking a bite of it. "Definitely should have at least brought something from home," she said after swallowing her bite.
"Well, we don't always think of stuff like that half-asleep in the morning, right?" He gave an impish grin, looking actually SWEET other than that creepy red tinge to his eyes
Actually, once you got used to it, the eye thing wasn't so bad. Maybe it helped actually TALKING to him? Who knew? "Not at all, really? I even woke up late this morning." And had a nightmare about the sun catching her on fire, but he didn't need to hear that part.
"Lucky. I had to be up two hours early just to get here in time. Mostly because I..." he blushed again, "kinda forgot to do my homework last night."
She smiled. "Well, I'm very glad I remembered to do my homework last night then," she admitted. God, she couldn't even picture getting up that early.
"I usually have it done! I just... I was a little distracted." Who would have thought the quiet, creepy loner was actually a friendly, polite, SHY kid?
She wouldn't have. Just because few picked on him didn't mean that many wanted to hang with him. Too bad for them, huh? "A little distracted?"
"Yeah... I started dating a freshman girl... and I've been sorta forgetting to do basic stuff." He admitted with a laugh.
She giggled. "Yeah, dating will make you forget to do a lot of things," she said. Well, so she had heard, anyway. She usually kept so busy with the dance team that she didn't bother with much dating.
"At least I remembered to put my shoes on before I came to school. That could have ended badly..." He mumbled, rolling his eyes at his own lameness. "It's nice to talk to you, by the way. I've seen you around, obviously.... but I wasn't sure if you had any real interest in talking to me."
"Good to remember shoes," Teresa said with a nod. "And...OK, rumor around school is that you might be a devil worshiper, and, while I didn't really think that, you are actually really nice. So, consider my opinion corrected." She smiled apologetically at him.
"Nah. That's my father." He said with a laugh, even though... that was SORT of true. "I *am* into magic... but no, I'm not a devil worshiper."
"You are? So that's stuff's real?" What? Teresa was sheltered for living in LA, OK? Maybe then he would know about freaky ass dreams?
"I guess it all depends on what you believe, really..." Hey... JUST in case, she could think he was just some typical "love the earth" type of "wiccan" or something, right?
She really didn't know anything about magic, so he could tell her that he flew around on a broom and she might believe him. "Well, I don't know anything about it, so what can I believe?" she asked.
"Well... if you're ever feeling open-minded and entirely brave... feel free to come with me after school sometime. I can show you a world of things you never knew about..." Somehow, she seemed the type that would not only accept things... but not judge him for them. And he was willing to go with his gut.
She nodded. "I think I'll have to take you up on that, actually. When are you free?" With the wacked out stuff she had been dreaming lately, she might actually believe anything, plus she was sure that, if he was for real, maybe he could help her out a bit.
"Well... how about Friday, after school?" That would give him a few days to talk to Brandie, make sure she knew this wasn't what it was SURELY going to seem like...
Teresa smiled and nodded. "Sounds great, actually," she said to him. The team didn't have practices on Fridays, so they would be good for that.
