Who: Andais & Deacon Where: At Home When: Saturday Evening, November 27th after This
Once they reached the yard, Andais handed the leash to her puppy to the guard (who is apparently so unwanted around that I have yet to name him. LMAO). She told him to hold the dog for her before she tricked him, disappearing out into the darkness that surrounded them. She wanted to be alone, and not in the house. She wiped the tears that had slid down her cheeks as she disappeared down the beach away from the human and the party, leaving a freaking out guard behind. He knew that he was going to get a piece of Deacon's mind for that. and possibly the King as well. It wasn't the first time that she had tricked him and ran off on her own that week, let alone in the years that he had been her guard.
Andais was gone for nearly 4 hours before she came home. She had went down to an empty spot on the beach and sat there watching the waves. She hadn't had to deal with any other people since it was so late. She walked into the back yard, letting herself into the fence and scratched the top of the puppy's head softly as she knelt down beside him. "Did he leave you out here? Well he's just not going to want to have me talk to him about that." she said as she nuzzled the dog's head softly.
Since it had appeared to Deacon that Andais would be spending her evening at home, he'd politely requested if he could spend a few hours out. The guard needed to let off some steam given how...awkward...the had been becoming. Andais was not the only one who was kicking themselves for bearing their soul. Deacon was an idiot for doing so; Honestly, what had he been thinking?
So, of course, his enjoyable evening came crashing down when he'd gotten back to the house three hours ago to find the other guard pacing the living room like a junkie in need of his next fix. The puppy Rozenwyn had bestowed upon Andais was bounding around the guard's feet excitedly, barking now and then. It didn't taken even the most intelligent fae to know that Deacon's co-worker had lost Princess Andais...again.
Sparks, literally, flew from the elemental fae's eyes. Deacon was not the sort to yell despite the fact that he wanted to. Yelling would not solve anything, but his tone was dangerously quiet, holding that underlying rage barely in check, "Why are you still here? You should be out looking for her!" As if to demonstrate his anger, the candles in the room flared high, once. The puppy whined and backed out into the backyard. The other guard needed no other encouragement and fled to search for Andais.
Which lead to Deacon being on his own to worry for the next three hours about his faerie Princess. When he heard her in the backyard, relief flooded him as he stepped out from the shadowed interior and into the lighted backyard. His appearance looked disheveled, his hair more of mess than usual while a cigarette dangled from his lips.
She looked up whenever she heard the door open. She had not ran into the other guard during her walk back to the house, so she had no idea where he was. She took in his disheveled appearance and saw the relief in his eyes whenever her eyes lifted to see him. She did not see what she had done as wrong per-say... perhaps a little dangerous if any of her father's enemies had any inclination where she was. But she did not think about that whenever she had fled... just needing space. She bit her bottom lip as she looked up at him. "I trust you had a nice evening." she said simply.
The cigarette bobbed up and down as he responded in kind, "Yes, Princess." Deacon then stepped aside to hold the door open for Andais. Despite his worries, the guard knew that eventually, the princess would have returned; Knowing her as well as he did, Deacon had figured she needed time to herself, true time to herself. He couldn't fault her for it and therefore said nothing about the duration of her...absence.
She walked forward, her eyes adverting from him as she walked up the stairs. She walked past him and sighed softly as she entered the house. The puppy followed her into the house and she walked past the living room and straight towards her room. She had been holing herself into the room lately. She only came out to take the puppy out and to occasionally go to the kitchen. She walked to the sofa in her sitting room and sat down, her knees up against her chest as she rested her head against the couch.
It was perhaps that Deacon was a passionate individual that caused him to have a sea of emotions roiling within him. He didn't follow after Andais, closing the door behind both woman and canine and instead put his energy into slowly pacing the backyard as he smoked the cigarette. At one point, he paused and looked to the waning moon still hanging in the night sky and murmured, "Goddess, give me strength to get through this." It was an oath he uttered many times over the centuries and it was one that gave him comfort. A moment later, Deacon properly disposed of the used up cigarette and went inside to speak to Andais, knocking on her door.
She arched a brow as she heard the knock on her door. She hoped that it wasn't the other guard. She really didn't want to listen to him scolding her. He had the last time. She had come close to losing her temper and disemboweled him, but then her father had called... Luck had saved him then. "Enter." she called to the door.
Deacon entered the suite, closing the door behind him. He didn't hit the light switch, knowing the interior inside and out by memory. The guard didn't see her shadowed form on the bed and he took a guess that she'd seated herself on the sofa and again, he paced slowly in front of it while he gathered his thought. Finally, after a while, Deacon finally spoke up, "Andais...I feel this bears repeating." He paused, both in step and words to glance in her direction before he resumed his movement, running a hand through his messy hair, "Your father gave me the task of protecting that which is most precious to him. What he holds dear to him, can be used against him by his enemies. Your death, Princess, could cripple him and it is in your best interest to have a guard by your side, always, from the time you wake to when you retire."
Andais looked down at her hands as he scolded her in his own polite way. His scolding she would tolerate. He was right. She had been a little reckless. She had been wrong in leaving the house without a guard, and had been wrong to be gone for so long by herself. She pursed her lips as she picked at the black fingernail polish on her nails. She sighed softly and looked up at him. It wasn't often that she admitted whenever she was wrong. But she was about to. Someone should mark it on the calendar. She watched him for a few minutes. "You are right. And I was being selfish." she said simply. She sighed softly as she looked back down at her hands.
Deacon didn't say anything for a while, taking a seat next to the princess on the sofa. He pulled another cigarette from his pack and stuck it between his lips, but did not light it. A rueful smile curved his lips and he pulled the cigarette free, "I know why you did it, Your Highness, and...I honestly can't fault you for the reason."
She looked over at him and shrugged. "I don't if my reasoning is as black and white as what you think." she said as she laid her head against the back of the couch. She sighed softly and looked away from him. "I don't like how awkward things have become since I foolishly let you know how I feel... I can understand you not feeling the same as I do. I know what the other guards have said about me... I'm not always the most lucid of people, but I like to think that I can be reasonable."
The guard reached out to push a lock of Andais' hair behind her ear, his finger tracing the curve and brushing against her neck when he pulled his hand away. Deacon murmured, "Andais...I feel the same about you."
Her eyes closed as he traced his finger down the curve of her neck. She glanced over at him whenever he spoke. She stilled, not sure if she heard what he had said right. "I am not sure if I heard you right..." she said softly. She bit her bottom lip. "Did you say that you feel the same?" she asked softly.
Deacon leaned in, pressing his forehead against hers and nodded, "...Yes."
She blinked as she looked at him. She was stunned silent. She hadn't expected him to say that at all. She had been moody and all because she hadn't just asked him flat out. She couldn't fault anyone for her behavior this past week. She moved her hand up to cup his cheek softly, trailing her fingers softly over his skin.
The elemental fae closed his eyes at the Princess' touch, the tip of his nose brushing hers before he opened them to gaze back at Andais. An amused smile curved his lips then and he chuckled, "I should probably check to see if the other guard has returned. I'm sure he's more than terrified that he hasn't found you." Deacon tweaked the royal faerie's nose.
She watched him as he brushed his nose against hers, and couldn't help the smile that spread across her lips. "Is it mean that I am slightly amused that he's out looking for me whenever I just vanished right in front of his eyes... If I wanted him to be able to find me, I would have let him..." she said shaking her head."But I guess it is only right that you go and sooth his worry."
With a grin, Deacon rose to his feet, chuckling at Andais' words about being mean. He then leaned over the princess, his hands briefly pressed against the top of the sofa, "I suppose..." Deacon then kissed the princess.
She couldn't help but smile as he chuckled. She was feeling better about the whole situation. She watched as he leaned over her and leaned down. She felt his lips against hers and moved hers softly against his, almost timidly, a word that would rarely describe the princess
Deacon broke the kiss reluctantly, his forehead resting against her's and he sighed. Of course, a smile was never far from the guard's lips as the corner upturned and he murmured again, "Well, duty beckons..." The elemental faerie straightened, running a hand through his continuously tousled hair and stuck the unlit cigarette between his lips again. He playfully gave the princess a gallant bow and then turned to exit the suite.
She brushed her nose against his as he pulled back. She returned the soft smile. "Come back whenever you're done? I promise I'll be nicer to him..." she said with a small laugh. Her smile widened as he playfully bowed in front of her, watching him exit the room.
