Roaming the Graveyards
Who: Catherine, Kayla and Gabriel
Where: Cemetery
When: Wednesday, November 10th
Since the Drill Sargent had gone off at Gabriel a few days before about them hunting together, Kayla was currently on patrol with Catherine. She felt a little... awkward for it, honestly. Especially for the whole 'attacking her' thing, but if the arrangement bothered Catherine, she didn't seem to show it. Kayla was currently dressed in jeans and a black tank, stake at her side, "Thanks for doing this, Catherine. I know you didn't have to."
Catherine gave Kayla a slight smile. She completely understood that Kayla had been a bit...off kilter when she had tried to pounce last time. "It's not a problem," she told Kayla. "We Slayers should go out in pairs more often, anyway. It's safer that way." Vampires tended to congregate in groups, after all. Unless you were catching one fresh out the ground, you didn't catch them alone too often unless you found one trying to feed outside of a club.
Gabriel hadn't exactly done what he was supposed to. He had followed Catherine and Kayla out on their patrol, keeping a distance between them so that they would not immediately notice him, either. He probably looked a bit strange with his bow and arrow set, but it was the weapons that he was best with. He just wanted to make sure that Kayla was alright.
"That's true. I guess the Watchers still have the mentality of 'one per generation'," Kayla replied, gripping her stake. Huh. Apparently she'd been doing her homework. Good for her. Kayla frowned lightly, sensing something. She would have asked if Catherine had as well, but... that just would have been a waste of breath, as Catherine likely did. Instead, she continued the conversation, just a little more alert than before. "How are things with you, anyway?"
Catherine did sense something, but her senses told her that it was human, or at least half human. It wasn't a vampire, and she wasn't getting malice from it. That's what mattered to her right now. "I'm sure that they are," Catherine said to her. Before she could say anything else, though, she did sense a group of vampires in one of the nearby crypts. Silently, she nudged Kayla and pointed to the crypt. She silently unsheathed her katana and started walking toward the crypt.
Knowing how to read Slayers, Gabriel could sense that Catherine had sensed vampires nearby, and started to follow a little closer. He knew that their senses would be more focused on the vampires than on him.
Kayla arched an eyebrow at the sword, but knew when to keep quiet, instead making her way over to the crypt's entrance and steeling her breath. If the vampire's weren't young, then the might sense Catherine and Kayla right outside, and even if they were young, they were still dangerous. Kayla gave Catherine a curt, military-like nod, before kicking the door open, oddly wishing that she knew a good pun right now...
Catherine personally had a preference to beheading vampires instead of using a small stake in the heart. Plus, what good was a stake if you ran into something that wasn't a vampire? Vampires weren't the only things that played in graveyards, sadly enough. When Kayla kicked the door in, five vampires about to share a feast over a street kid looked up at them, all in vamp face and rather angry that they had been interrupted. Catherine herself hoped to lead them out of the crypt so that they weren't fighting in such a small room.
Gabriel watched as the two girls lead the vampires out of the crypt and started to fight them. If they were able to handle the five by themselves (if things went well, they should), then he would stay back and let them do their jobs. If not...well, that's what he was there for, after all.
The poor street kid had sense enough to scamper off as soon as the vampire's' attentions were focused elsewhere. The vamps themselves were all in metal/punk attire and looked actually happy that they were taking on two 'baby Slayers'.
Unfortunately, three went after Catherine, leaving the other two to Kayla. She spun a high kick at one vampires head, spinning him to the ground and staking him before he knew what had happened.
God, apparently these guys just didn't know who they were dealing with, did they? Catherine was happy to take on three, actually. Two went for her at the same time while the third, possibly the 'leader,' stood back and watched. Catherine sliced one of the vampires across the stomach, distracting him momentarily while she spun, katana still out, and took off the head of the other with one clean swipe. She turned back to the first and launched a side kick to his chest, sending him flying onto a branch of a tree, causing him to basically stake himself and explode into dust. Catherine then turned to the leader with the blue mohawk, motioning for him to come to her now.
Gabriel noticed that they seemed to be doing OK so far. Of course, he knew Catherine would be fine. She wasn't the 'head slayer' because of her good looks or ability to color coordinate her hair with her wardrobe. As Kayla was staking her first vampire, he noticed the second coming toward her while her back was turned. Instead of shouting out, he aimed an arrow at it and fired, the arrow sailing through the air and hitting the intended target, catching the vampire square in the heart.
Kayla whipped around, stake poised... to see the second vampire turn to ash right in front of her face. She blinked and looked past the ash cloud to see Gabriel, a small smile burgeoning on her face before turning to watch Catherine face off against the leader.
While apparently this vampire was their leader, he wasn't much of a fighter. Plus, he was unarmed. Apparently these guys expected Slayers to only pack stakes, but Catherine had grown attached to her katana, so she tended to bring it out more often now, too. After a couple of kicks and dodges on both sides, Catherine managed to catch the vampire in the stomach, then bringing the sword up and slicing him in half. Vampires can live through lots of things, but that ain't one of him. Effectively killing him, she turned to see where the arrow had come from, an amused grin coming across her face when she realized that Gabriel had followed them out. "I thought Ms. Delallo told you to let Kayla go out on her own now," she asked playfully.
Gabriel smirked at Kayla, then turned his attention toward Catherine as he walked up to them, sliding his bow over his shoulder so that his hands were free. "She said nothing about following her out and keeping watch," he pointed out. "Besides, that vampire may have hurt her if I hadn't been here." He had a good point.
"He... Might have," Kayla agreed, still blinking at him, a little dazed, but in a GOOD way. And...well, everyone knows that Slayers get worked up after a fight, so now wasn't going to be any different. "Thank you for stalking me," she smirked, pressing up on her toes a little to kiss him on the cheek.
Catherine simply chuckled. She didn't have the same opinion of Kayla and Gabriel going out patrolling together as Isabella, but she tended to do favors when they were asked of her no matter what in Slayer situations. She could also sense (OK...SMELL) what Kayla was feeling toward Gabriel at the moment, which meant that she was about to make a quick exit and go find her boyfriend. "I think that's the first time that sentence has been uttered anywhere," she muttered to herself. She wiped the ash from her sword and sheathed it. "Make sure to find a crypt that's not occupied," she said playfully as she turned to leave.
Gabriel had somewhat forgotten that Catherine was here at this point. He did blush slightly when Catherine said something about finding a crypt that wasn't occupied, though. "You're welcome," he said to Kayla, choosing to focus on her instead of thinking too hard on the fact that the nearly twenty year old had figured out what was probably about to happen.
"Thanks Catherine..." Kayla muttered after a long moment, although let's face it, Catherine was probably long gone by that point. "So..." she breathed, "did you always want to be Robin Hood?" Cheeky, wasn't she?
Gabriel chuckled. "It was just something that I've always been good at," he said to her. There had even been some talk about going to the Olympics for archery before his interests were perked by the supernatural.
"It's ... Kinda hot," Kayla admitted, sucking her lower lip between her teeth. Yeeeah, it was no stretch of the imagination to see where this was leading.
None at all. He slid an arm around Kayla's waist. "So...maybe we should find somewhere to be a little less out in the open?" he suggested to her playfully. He just hoped that they *wouldn't* get interrupted by any other hungry vampires.
"Sounds perfect," she purred, rubbing a hand across his chest. Hmm, THAT might have been a concern of the Drill Sergent's as well. That they'd be too busy having sex instead of doing their jobs...
It may of been, but that wasn't Gabriel's concern right now, and besides, she had killed some vampires, hadn't she? Then job done.
